    Neils best days are way behind him and hes even butchering his old songs. The new songs are mediocre at best. He is still a legend and had a great period of early creativity. Just wish he would not stain that legacy too much.

    • @kencade6544
      @kencade6544 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I bet you haven't listened to anything new and couldn'tname a song without googling...the barn album is killer. A live show where Walsh doesn't know the song isn't the best example of Neil youngs playing.

    • @TheNaturalust
      @TheNaturalust ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kencade6544 Maybe not the best example but I toured with Neil for months in 1997, know him personally and have played with him at his home, very close to mine. I think that gives me a bit more perspective than most. Neil might even agree with me. The Barn record was his best in a while, but I'd argue not because of his playing or singing.....

    • @kencade6544
      @kencade6544 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @TheNaturalust Barn to me is a legitimate great album. Considering he's in his 70s and is still in pursuit of the muse, unlike many of his contemporaries who either just go play the hits and cash out, or who put out whatever they are told to, I have mad respect for Neil. He hasn't ever given a fiddlers fart about what anyone thinks-thats not what drives him. I'm not a fan of everything he does, but I'm always a fan of why he does it. I think this recording from this gig is not great, and Walsh isn't playing the song while Stills if off key. Neil sounds great for being in his 70s. He's still got it.

    • @TheNaturalust
      @TheNaturalust ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@kencade6544 Who knows what drives him. He seems like he's still having a good time. I love Neil, his sense of humor is unique. In general the jokes always on you. I guess I just want to keep my memories of him when he was really good musically, working for every note. At some point he embraced the mediocrity like it was a cool thing. I don't like that. there are plenty of guitarists in their 70's as good as they ever were. I don't cut him any breaks because I've seen him get sloppy and not work hard for it and it isn't very good for me watching or listening. But perhaps he will still surprise me, I hope so. Cheers.

    • @kencade6544
      @kencade6544 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @TheNaturalust I think you're bring pretty harsh.
      I've seen him 5x and each show was a different side of him, but they wee all great. I think he's pretty far from mediocre and sloppy. Everyone has their better days. Take someone like Elton John for instance...he was great, then went Disney, and now he's not challenged himself for 20 years. So no new material, so of course he plays it well...most of Neil's contemporaries don't put out anything new. Neil is putting out 3 to 4 records a year, and in a variety of styles. I'm not always a fan, but he's hardly predictable IMHO.
