30 years since Gripen first flight

December 9, 30 years ago, the first Gripen took off on its very first flight. The designated test pilot was Stig Holmström. Last year test pilot Marcus Wandt took Gripen E on its first flight. Today we want to share with you the heartfelt moment when these two pilots met up for a talk. #Gripen30

I'm from indonesia and seeing this video touched me as a Engineering major in a way, today if a country like brazil, India, China, Japan and even dare i say those small plane builder in africa might start with a failure or even a flawed design that most may call a trash at start but give the support and time 40 to 50 years its not hard to see that they would achieved the same capability to produce aircraft that would at deserve to that stand together in the ranks of what mostly produced by European, US And Russia or what we see here with the grippen.
All we had to do is to start somewhere i guess, and the question is wether we are willing to take the plunge and commit our self to create our own mark.

I “flew” the simulator at Flygvapenmuseum in Linköping yesterday. I obviously cannot say anything about the flight characteristics and feel of the real thing, but the civilian unclassified sim was incredibly easy to fly, and at the same time, very nimble.
