I want to make a (crappy) wafer lock key retaining and this gave me some ideas. Thanks

I just put my plan into action and so far so good! I even used a beverage bottle but it wasn't very thick so I cut the strips 2x as long and folded them in half. Unfortunately there is nothing to really retain the strips in this lock so I'm hoping they just jam in there or else I'll have to find a glue.
I went to two locksmiths and neither would touch this project! Their loss I guess!

What are pros and cons of each?

Question I work at a small motel and we have some breaker boxes that are unlocked but the keys were lost with the last owner we just want to be able to latch them clothes. We don't need them locked with a specific key. So if we remove the pins and springs, will that still allow it to turn without requiring a specific key?

Not if the lock is fully assembled-PJ
