While I understand there are grants available to help, I really don't understand why municipalities aren't doing a lot more to provide incentives to those who are working and putting their hard earned and raised money into saving these historic homes. Cut property taxes for the folks like you by like investment into property and if that means no taxes for a number of years, then so be it. Or set limits. We need to do the same here and every nation needs to put requirements on owners of historic sites to maintain the dang roof because that is the main key to preserving these homes so they don't need so much work over time. I am not one to nose into private property but that one requirement can go so far. Failure to maintain should have consequences and there should also be ways folks could get help if they find themselves struggling to keep up the roof.
What you are doing was amazing and loved that this was in French so I can brush up on my rusty French. Thank you for sharing your journey! ❤️

The family reunion was so special to watch. I love that this massive project doesn’t overwhelm you both. Your parents scored well on their accomodation 💕

Oh my God, the renovation project you have taken on is so massive and will be so rewarding when it's finished. Giving yourself a ten-year window is a good thing, a strict and quick timeline is never a good thing, so many unforeseen things come up and then the frustration starts and so does the anxiety and anger so many emotions, slow and steady wins the race as they say. Good luck to you and I will be watching. love from N.Y.

I'm enjoying following your work on the chateau. As an architect and historic preservationist it's quite interesting. I just bought an 18th century townhouse in the south of France and will be relocating from the US to France in two months. Your project is much larger than mine. Keep up the good work. Cheers-

In a nutshell : An Australian couple buys a castle and it needs a lot of work, but if they wouldnt have bought it, it would crumble in a few years and be lost forever. Cost 10 million euro of which the DRAC (governement) will help with 2 million. They hope to get it completely done in 10 years. Their family comes to the château to help after 2 years they had bought the château in covid times. Such an endeavour !!

Click on the "CC" button in the TH-cam taskbar at the bottom of the screen. You will see the English subtitles. Enjoy!
