    Bots are always a good addition to increase the shelf-life of the game, there are a lot of games that you simply can't play anymore because the servers are gone, or the player-base has moved on to something else, or sometimes you have to install mods/user-made patches to play online, like with the older Battlefield games. Also for some more realistic games with complex mechanics [Project Reality, Forgotten Hope 2] or games with a veteran player-base [like Red Orchestra] playing against bots makes for good practice. The stakes are low because if you screw up, you're not screwing over your entire team and getting kicked from servers all the time. You can learn the mechanics of the game without ruining an entire round for the whole lobby. Ultimately I think it's good for a game's community to have bots so people can at least learn basic mechanics, plus once the player-base starts to disperse you can keep lobbies alive somewhat longer by adding bots to sparsely populated servers.

      You forgot to add 'playing offline with bots is just as good as, if not better than, playing online with humans. Playing offline with bots is fun.' Yet you still somehow tie them to online multiplayer. Shame.

    I think bots are good for the longevity of a game. Growing up I didn't have many friends and the one I played games with lived 20 miles away and our parents did not want to drive or agree on who drove and when. Games like killzone were nice for me because I had multiplayer but with the computer sure they weren't amazing but it helped simulate multiplayer for me

    I think bot matches should be an option for all FPS/TPS games.
    I love chaotic shooter action but at the same time I sometimes prefer playing with the same modes and weapon loadouts by myself.
    Not to mention that online-only games that fail tend to be unplayable due to closed servers. Meaning that I can't be able to play MAG, Lawbreakers, The Punisher: No Mercy, or Battleborn even for curiosity.

      bots in any kind of multiplayer game are necessary, not only First Person Shooters or Real time strategy games, not only versus but also coop as well

    • @FoxParasyte

      I would agree. My biggest gripe is when games are online only with no bots like MAG, socom confrontation, I think overwatch? Because what happens when the servers are gone. The games turn into paperweights. So what now?

    Ill be honest, I still play quite a few games that I used to online when I was younger. But living out where I did, internet was often divided up into times of day in terms of usage, so bots always came in hand for me, games like counter strike and team fortress classic had bot mods that were near impossible to beat at best and at least competent at worst. Lately I have seen bot mods for older call of dutys i used to play on my playstation back in the day, like modern warfare 2, cod 4 and world at war, and they play act just like tryarch's bots do, plus being able to do some extra things like dropshotting and all sorts of player created tactics, this mod has even been implemented into the combat training for black ops 1, making the ai much better, and allowing you to prestige with the bots. The reason I go on my tangent about these things is because i missed out on a lot of hours playing some of these games that didnt have bots, and now that i can play them with bots, and complete challenges and get unlocks as well, it adds a whole new dimension to the content I can play around with in these old games, and the fact that these bots are being updated currently really makes me happy to see that other people truly do care about a good experience offline, because what if im on my laptop at 30,000 feet in the air and want a good match of dom? what if a storm hits and our router is unable to connect for a few days, now I dont ever have to miss out on some good fragging action in these classics, and with some bots that can truly wipe the floor with me and make it look totally fair, I owe the creators of these mods more than they could ever imagine for this!

    I asked this question about 14 years ago on my old channel, but now there are way
    more games with bots, when I posted a video on my old deleted channel they had
    pertty much stopped making games with bots to prevent piracy and focus on multiplayer
    back then, I got 100's of comments saying bots are pointless and stupid and only newbs
    and people who suck at fps want to play with bots, but fortunately that has changed in the
    last few years, with Battlefield 2042, ready or not and so many others trying to make
    more advanced A I and finaly realizing that without A I or a dedicated mutliplayer fanbase
    a fps game is just some empty maps and a selection of weapons - useless.

      Activision spent a lot of money the late 2000's so it would have drm protection that would force you to play online with bots in MW2 and BO 1, most devs did not have that kind of money. Im speaking about PC, consoles versions there are more games with bots. because its more of an offline device.

    Yeah I feel this hard.. I don't really enjoy playing online or trying to grind for stats/ranks anymore. Gaming is supposed to be about having fun, not about feeling anxious or unhappy dealing with other players, cheap tactics and stressful rankups. Battle Royale used to be my favorite when it first came out, but I quickly realized I didn't enjoy the feelings of stress, negativity and anxiety you get from hiding or trying to win the game. I much prefer games with bots for this reason. I mostly play Ravenfield, which is a bot only, high customizable FPS on PC/Mac. Otherwise,I try to play games like CS, Quake and others that have bots readily available. Great video, I like your channel; you seem to have some great, original ideas.

    They should include bots for three reasons:

    this is what brought me to play the new star wars battlefront 2, counter strike, bf2 heat of battle mod and angels fall first
    bot matches are fun bc i actually get to try everything without paying microtransactions

      @FoxParasyte  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @FoxParasyte
      @FoxParasyte  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the progression thing because it raises the replay value, giving players a reason to play more of the game. So that they can unlock everything and rank up to the highest level. i've never stopped playing left 4 dead 2 even though you have everything from the start, and if i just want more content i'll just install some mods
      multiplayer games with progression tend to not have mod support also which is part of the fun because its "cheating"
      i just want a sandbox experience where i play the game whatever way i want because its fun instead of playing it just a certain way just to unlock certain items

  • @clover4522
    @clover4522 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Without even watching the video first, absolutely. Almost every multiplayer game should have bots. Not only will this help newcomers, bots are also good to test mechanics, relax and have some fun, and ensures that if the game is low on playerbase, bots will make sure the game NEVER dies. Some good examples of games with bots: Call of Duty games from Black Ops 1 to even Cold War, Brink, CSGO, almost any fighting game on the market, etc
    Edit to a 2 year old comment: The WW1 Game Series is also perfect for offline bots. Verdun, Tannenberg, and Isonzo all have offline modes with large scale bot battles.

Long time ago I was playing resident evil operation raccoon city and was getting hate messages and dude talking crap in the lobby before the match. Like people love to be mean or something.. and I was playing battlefield hardline the other day and was getting wrecked. But I learn the map and started to do good the people who own that seriver ban me from there. They only wanted me to kill but, when i started to get better they where like nope BAN.

    Bots are important than just allowing "easier play for newbies"
    Bots help retain a games value, replay ability and supports *Game preservation*
    Games that rely on corporate servers and services, eventually become inaccessible to everyone and diminishes game ownership.
    Which is why, alongside advocating for game ownership i.e. physical discs AND DRM-free digital.
    We can advocate and push for the following multiplayer components to be made common standards as they can be made independent of corporate servers and services:
    - P2P
    - LAN
    - Adhoc
    - Splitscreen
    - Bots - especially now with the advent of AI - AI Chatgpt mod in Skyrim is an example of the potential of AI bots in games.

    Honestly I tend to only spend my money on video games that can be played and enjoyed both online and offline.
    Bot support adds to the shelf life & the appeal of a video game for me, the only reason I didn't by games like the crew and insurgency sandstorm, is because I'd have to be always connected to the internet just to play and experience these games firsthand.
    Most of the games I love most can be played both online and offline
    The borderlands franchise , the doom franchise, battlefield bad company 1&2 the halo franchise, wolfenstein franchise the forza horizon series, left4dead 1&2 and I even enjoyed back4blood oddly enough.
    I also enjoy cod 2019 cod black ops 1,2, &3 the original modern warfare trilogy, prodeus and the street fighter 30th anniversary, street fighter IV, king of fighters XIII , dragon ball fighterz, need for speed hot pursuit remastered and the list of games goes on and on.
    Single player games and multiplayer games that have offline bots support and games that are capable of being played both online and offline are still relevant and much needed in the gaming industry & the growing gaming community as a whole.
    During the covid pandemic gaming was a means of stress relief & relaxation for me when so many of us where stuck inside during the early stages of the pandemic and travel was restricted but I was a gamer even before then.
    So many people would've lost their minds during the pandemic without having the option of playing video games to reduce the stress such a situation could have a person.
    So I'm all in favor of more video games having an offline single player mode and offline bots support for games like rainbow six seige which sadly cant be played offline though it's a good one.
    Also I wish halo infinite added offline bot support that could actually be played offline so you could more options than just the single player campaign which is fun to play.
    But that's just my opinion sorry for the tldr.

  • @videogamersadvocate9925

    Honestly, every multiplayer shooter should have a bot option and it should not have to take anything away from the PvP experience. For me, I don't even care if the bots are the smartest or greatest, I just want them to be present and serviceable. They provide a safe learning environment for new players as well as a potentially fun environment for those who do not prefer PvP. By including bots, you're giving players choices. And by allowing offline play, people who do not have internet or have an inconsistent connection can still fully enjoy the game.
    I personally only purchase multiplayer shooters that have bots. No bots, no purchase. And I have made a concerted effort over the past few years to reward those companies that do provide bots in their games with my money. I'm just so thankful for the developers that keep gamers like me in mind because I prefer to play against bots.
