I think the most important thing they can do is focus on the marketing, do ALOT of ads, advertising is where it's at, because seems a lot of people don't even know this game is in the works and exists, I think that's the main focus.
Honestly they're on a good route, this game actually has potential, obviously there's bugs, the upgrade system is kinda predictable I know but that's something that shouldn't be an issue to get it right
I think for alpha the game is performing as it should. They gave us the bare bones and that's all we have to comment on. It is a good effort so far and I'm excited to see The beta phase come live soon. Obviously there will be more cars and upgrades to come but for now I think it makes sense. One concern I have is bracketing system. At the moment there is none. I hope they apply it so the upgrades that will follow make sense. It's exactly what you concerned about.

For my comment, I think the developers should add the custom front bumpers. They only have the rear bumpers, side skirts and others
