I would like to point out that even after 15 years in the industry they still give their 110% unlike other newer groups (not naming names).
TVXQ is universally known as the biggest and most influential kpop boy group ever.

A lot of artists were actually inspired by TVXQ to join SM Entertainment like Xiumin from EXO! TVXQ are total legends in kpop

Thanks for your reaction. TVXQ is a quite old group so members have tons of experience on stage. They are relaxing and confident when performing and make everyone enjoying watching their show. BTW, I highly recommend you Changmin's solo Rise As One and his Forever Love (originally sung by X-JAPAN) on Nissan Stadium concert. He has really powerful voice and talented high notes.

Yes, they truly are all-time legends in the music industry. Here is some background to help you understand the dynamics of TVXQ better. TVXQ (English and Chinese)/DBSK (Korean)/ Tohoshinki (Japanese), which each are the abbreviations/acronyms of the words in each language that translates to mean "Rising Gods of the East," debuted in 2003 as a 5 member group. But, in 2010 three of their members left SM Entertainment and the group and formed a new group called JYJ (the initials of the members: Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong). However, Max/Changmin and U-Know/Yunho continued as TVXQ as a duo. 2018 was TVXQ/DBSK/Tohoshinki's 15th anniversary and as you have seen, even now as a duo they are so talented that they have the vocal range to cover all the parts of a song between the two of them, including rap. TVXQ has been a duo now longer than they ever where a 5 member group.(All the other dancers you see with them are backup dancers.)

Changmin was 15 and U-Know was 17 years old.when they debuted with TVXQ so even though they are one of the senior Kpop groups Changmin is only 30/31 and U-know is 32/33. The first song of this performance was U-Know's solo song "Drop" I recommend you check out the MV for "Drop." (It's pretty intense, but that is what U-Know is known for. LOL)
The next song was their song"Mirotic." which came out in 2008 when they were still a 5 member group. Its an all-time classic in the Kpop world and every new rookie group -- both boy groups and girl groups -- learn this song and choreography and almost every rookie has performed it on music programs, award shows, at showcases, etc. at least once in their career. This song is pretty much compulsory for everyone in the entertainment industry to know and learn the song and dance to, no matter how young or old they are. Yes, every single person in that audience knows that song, and as you noticed the people they showed in the audience were idols from other groups so they absolutely know the song and dance. I take it you have not seen the MV for "Mirotic" yet either, because you were shocked my Changmin's high note ability. lol You should also check out this MV.
This was a performance from the end of the year SBS 2018 Gayo Daejun award show, so, yes, EXO was in attendance. Most of the main audience are other Idols and Kpop groups. EXO also performed at this awards show. Award shows like this are kind of like MTV Award shows in the U.S. with epic performances from the artists who are nominated for awards.
The third song, "Chance of Love," is one of their more recent songs. it came out almost a year ago, and it was their first comeback in 2 years after they both were released from the military. If you haven't seen this MV either, you should check it out, too.
You should have continued watching the performance because, right after where you ended it, they went straight into their next song which was "Truth." "Truth" is their most recent song that was only released a couple of weeks before this performance, about a month ago now.
Changmin is known for his powerful high notes (even more powerful than Chen and Baekhyun from EXO), he literally has one of the widest note ranges of almost any Kpop artist. In a high note battle he always wins.
U-Know is known for his dancing and his passion for dancing and singing. He is also the rapper of the group. (U-Know truly loves what he does and doesn't hide it. He will tell you he is proud of his accomplishments and he is proud of his work.)
Like U-Know has said before, he and Changmin have lived together for so long that they know each other like an old married couple. They have lived together for almost 15 years. It wasn't until just recently that they decided to get their own places and now they live alone.
The funny thing is personality-wise, Changmin and U-Know are complete opposites in almost every way. Changmin is quiet, calm and level headed and prefers to be alone; and U-Know is loud, high energy, intense and prefers to be with a group of people. They both just finished their military service about a year and a half ago, so "Chance of Love" and "Love Lines" was their first comeback in 2 years that's why we Cassis (Cassiopeia) (or BigEast is what the fandom is called in Japan) -- TVXQ fans -- were so excited for their comeback.
'Chance of Love" and Super Junior's "Black Suit" both came out around the same time, within a couple months of each other, so that might be why, if you hear Super Junior's "Black Suit," you might hear similarities in the two songs. (Super Junior are another legendary Kpop boy group who have been in the industry for more than 13 years now.) Both the members of TVXQ and almost all the members of Super Junior are now in their 30s and both songs were comebacks in celebration of the fact that the members had just gotten out of the military and both groups are second generation groups under SM Entertainment -- so that's why both songs had the same grownup, mature look, sound and feel.
Tohoshinki (TVXQ) are one of the most famous singers in Japan even among Japanese artists. And like SHINee (another second generation Kpop boy group under SM Entertainment who have been in the industry for more than 10 years now), they are so popular in Japan that they are considered part of the mainstream music scene. As you might notice by the number of comments you have on this reaction, TVXQ has one of the biggest worldwide fan bases and they sell out some of the largest concert venues in the world. They are SM Entertainment's top selling group easily selling out concert tours around the world. One of their recent Japanese concert tours included 3 days at Nissan Stadium, and they sold out 230,000 tickets and earned $250 million in those 3 days alone. TVXQ is SM's most senior group, but U-Know and Changmin are still younger than, or the same age as, many of the members of the legendary groups who came after them within their generation.

I'm so happy you reacted to TVXQ(international name)/DBSK(Korean/Chinese name)! They are truly the kings of K-Pop, and label mates of SHINee, EXO, Amber, NCT, Red Velvet, Super Junior and Girls Generation. TVXQ debuted with five members in 2003, but after a descrepancy with SM, three of the members left for another label forming JYJ. So today TVXQ consists of the two members Yunho(U-Know) and Changmin. All SM-artists have a very high quality compared to other labels.(my opinion)

Most, if not all performances from Music Festivals, End of Year Award Shows, etc. tend to be slight remixes of the actual songs, so I think it would be cool if you saw/listened to the original performances for some of the main title track songs.
As for the side tracks, (e.g. EXO's "Sign" and "Forever" performances) you wouldn't see those being performed live on the weekly music shows and they tend to be special additions to the music festival and end of year shows. The side tracks would otherwise only be seen performed during individual concerts :)

No wonder there because EXO is always looking up to TVXQ, and many kpop idols do too. TVXQ is just like fine wine, the older they got their quality showed.
