It’s not new. Postal employees pride themselves to be the rudest and meanest people on earth. It’s standard practice to hire the nastiest people and the most rejected people to work for them.
I’ve worked for USPS for 25 years…it was a small problem back then..now it’s rampant today..new hires over this time is so atrocious, workers and management!!!
This is another example of what I see in society today. People seem to have realized that they can do pretty much anything they like with no fear of ever being punished.
Sister-in Law sent a card with cash and even insured it. It made it as far as 20 miles from our home ( it had a tracking number ) and then magically disappeared. Saw this happen many times during my years with the USPS. And they always got caught.
Birthday card envelopes stand out, and are obvious. I usually send them inside a padded envelope, if I’ve enclosed cash/gift cards. I’m glad the USPS takes theft seriously. The USPS is supposed to be a reliable, trustworthy institution.
I used to work for the children’s place in their distribution centers. We weren’t allowed to bring anything to the back with the merchandise with us. No bags no nothing. It’s amazing that people who handle our mail are allowed to have backpacks with them. They don’t need a backpack for an 8 hour shift.
I have lost more mail since August than I have all my life (age 43). I have a tracking system on all my mail, and it will say my packages are with postal employees waiting to be transferred, and then they aren't traceable anymore. If most of my stuff wasn't from Amazon, it wouldn't be able to be replaced, and it would be more money lost. I've lost almost $800.00 in packages this past year. Lost packages can't be tracked anymore. Then, all of a sudden, the packages are completely removed from my USPS account.
That post office should be investigated by inspectors. Make sure you have all the proofs and photos. And make a report on the Postal Inspectors website
Tampering with us mail is a federal offense punishable by imprisonment, not termination or resignation. Who are letting these crooks off the hook, that’s the major crime
This happens often in third world countries. We’ve had politicians aligned with corporate interests trying to turn the US into a third world country for 70 years to drive down labor prices and increase profits, while they go home to safe gated communities.
This is another of the many examples that I see where people have figured out that they can do pretty much whatever they want without fear of ever being punished.
Suddenly this is all over the news. If only the USPS paid the employees a living wage. And it also includes supervisors like in Costa mesa ca. Stop hiring anyone with a pulse to save money and bring back top tier workers.
This happened to me in OHIO. I work for a small business and funds were being dispersed from an escrow account - The escrow company sent a check over night first class and the postal worker stole the check and repacked it and delivered it to my business without the check. Upon opening the package the paperwork had all been rummaged through and I instantly knew the check had been stolen by none other than a postal employee. The escrow company stopped payment on check immediately and notified police. Nothing is ever done.
Thefts occur in all shipping companies. My DHL driver stole my prescription last year (cholesterol meds) I have him on camera, pretending to drop off my package, then putting it in his pocket and walking off. I contacted DHL, twice. They never even replied to my complaint.
When I worked for the Postal Office, I complained about all the junk mail. And they told me that it has to be delivered, it's important for their business. It makes money for the Postal Service
I’ve had valuable mail stolen in California. Unless you pay extra for tracking, you can consider it gone forever. What a huge disappointment in the United States Postal Service. In my 70 years I have never seen so much theft in America. I never mail anything now.
I noticed that since COVID, the tracking never works correctly anymore. Almost never shows when the package or letter gets accepted. And mostly says moving through the network.
Actually happened to me recently! Had a special card ordered and it was stolen. I’m glad eBay refunded me but the tracking never came to my university mailroom
Liar. I ordered shit load of stuffs online and only had 1 missing package and it probably got delivered to the wrong address. I've received my neighbor package before and one of my neighbor received one my packages.
@ I’m not a liar! It was here in the city I live, even on the local news several times that there is an investigation going on with USPS stealing a lot of packages and mail in our city. I live in a gated community and many neighbors have the same problem with USPS. I’m housebound and order almost everything. I never had a problem with FedEx, Amazon and UPS. FedEx once delivered my packages to the wrong address. I opened a ticket and approx after two weeks they were able to find out where they had delivered my packages to, picked them up and delivered them to me.

USPS needs cut already! Its fucked that i can order something from japan and fedex or ups can get it here in around a week on average, yet it took usps almost two weeks to get a check in an envelope from arizona to idaho 🙄🤦
My Jan 1 2025 rent check mailed inside the PO and to a PO box in a neighboring town got stolen. Thief attempted to cash it. Fortunately a credit union employee caught it and called to alert me that the person may have copied the check and been trying to deposit it, and duplicates of it into multiple accounts. I stopped payment on it and it did stop one, so far, that made it as far as my bank. So glad I had my phone number on my check. So sad to hear this is happening so often. Take care.
I still have not received my grandmother death certificate my cousin in Texas mailed to me in October last year. This makes me mad these people have a great job with so much and look what some of these people do.
Sent a check from New Mexico to Washington D.C. for a jewelry purchase. The envelope got there but, the check was missing. Also, lots of greeting cards sent never got there. The USPS needs a house cleaning.
Change the laws. Mail theft (checks, packages, bills, medicine...) should equal Felony; jail time NOT just a slap on the hand!!! Backpacks and large bags should not be allowed with the person while sorting mail.
Usps has delivered some of my packages open. Cards missing looking for money i assume. I had earrings stolen they just delivered an empty open box. I know this cause i was home when delivered. I was under the impression intentional mail theft was a felony. Why were workers just fired and not arrested? Craziness!
Postal management are desperate to have sufficient staffing no matter if they are criminal or not to push the mail.
protected classes in unions
I came to make the same comment. I also want to know the answer to that question.
Because the 13%er rule
Just because they were fired that doesn't mean charges wont be coming. Come on, use your head
Fired or resigned? They were supposed to be arrested. As a former postal employee, we were all made aware that stealing mail is a federal crime.
Not surprising if you've seen the individuals that the postal service has been hiring the past five to 10 years
