Honestly the only rivalry between Thailand and Vietnam for me is football, the rest is fine. I have many friend working in Vietnam and my brother also worked in Hanoi for a year too and left with good impression. My company in Thailand also employed Vietnamese person (and he's lovely guy too!) So, except in football match, I'm not consider Vietnam as hostile. Hopefully I can take my daughters to visit Vietnam one day. P.S. Myself and my wife, our favorite food is Nem Nướng. We can have it every dinner for 7 days straight with no complaint : )

They did, in fact, invade Laos and Cambodia to support the Communist and Allies Group. The Communist victory prevailed all warpaths in the Second Indochina War during 1975. Please, allow me explain all three Indochina Wars in the nutshell within the Cold War period.
The Anti-Communist Insurgency attempted to restore the French Union after the relinguished territories of French Indochina from the First Indochina War via the Geneva Conference in 1954. The American intervention also support the Anti-Communist Coalition.
The Second Indochina War was the following event:
1.) The Vietnam War (1955 - 1975)
The Communist Insurgency: Viet Minh
The Communist Guerilla: Viet Cong
The Anti-Communist Insurgency: The State of Vietnam
2.) The Laotian Civil War (1959 - 1975)
The Communist Insurgency: Pathet Lao
The Communist Guerilla: The Laotian Neutralists
The Anti-Communist Insurgency: The Kingdom of Laos
3.) The Cambodian Civil War (1967 - 1975)
The Communist Insurgency: The Khmer Rouge
The Communist-in-exile: The Royal Government of the National Union of Kampuchea (GRUNK)
The Communist Guerilla: The Khmer Rumdo
The Anti-Communist Insurgency (The Monarchism): The Kingdom of Cambodia
The Anti-Communist Insurgency (The Republic): The Khmer Republic
The Alpha Communist Insurgencies were Viet Cong and Viet Minh throughout the Second Indochina War. They did, in fact, invade Laos and Cambodia to support the Communist and Allies Group. The Communist victory prevailed all warpaths in the Second Indochina War during 1975.
The Khmer Monarchism and Khmer Republic conflicted between the Allied-Coaliation during the Cambodian Civil War that led to the betrayal between each other. The Khmer Rouge prevailed the Cambodian Civil War at the result of their backstab in 1975, which later led to the immediate Camobodian Genocide from 1975 to 1979.
The Vietnamese military intervention put an end to the Cambodian Genocide in 1979 that later marked the Third and final Indochina War against the Kingdom of Thailand. Viet Cong dissolved its political party to merge into Viet Minh. Viet Minh later became the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, as we know today. Thailand used the tactical defense to pretoect the border raid against the Alpha Communist Insuregencies in particular from 1979 to 1989. The collapse of the Soviet Union ended the Cold War in 1991, which led to the settled dispute to the Third Indochina War by default.
