- Geddy was surprised by a brief rendition of Closer to the Heart by the Glasgow audience during his stop in Scotland for his 'My Effin' Life In Conversation' tour. Phill Jupitus was the host that evening (also shown in the video).
I was part of the crowd in the Glasgow Apollo when Closer was recorded.
Saw Rush there 77,78,79 & 80
Beautiful 😊❤
G e d d y loves his fans just as much as we love him
Absolutely beautiful throwback tribute!
One other note… He doesn’t seem to be too thrilled with the request for the hug at the end. Lol
Gave this Canuck chick CHILLS. Way to go Glasgow...thank you for honoring one of our national treasures. 😊❤
Geddy is a total dork.
But he is the COOLEST dork ever!
I mean that with the highest regards. 👑
Made this Canuck cry. It was a beautiful moment from Exit... Stage Left revisited. Effin' Glaswegians. Effin' beautiful people
I was in the Glasgow Apollo when closer was recorded.
Saw Rush there 77,78,79 & 80 then followed them when they stopped playing the Apollo & moved to ingilston
I was there!
Thank you Geddy Lee and Rush for 40+ years a big part of my life and RIP Neil we miss you 💖💖
What a tribute! ❤ Rush!
If there's another band that's truly loved like they are....I don't know who
I used to mow the lawn for the mother of the artist that wrote the lyrics to the song. Amazing lady. It's no wonder to me that her son could come up with such lasting lyrics.
I know on a much lower level and locally, when the audience sings your songs, it just feels incredible. Cant imagine, what geddy must have felt. RUSH!!!!
How beautiful. How exquisite. Way to show us how it's done, Glasgow.
I find it amazing that we could understand what the Scotsmen were saying. Good job!!😎👍
Two big thumbs up for the FANS in Glasgow. 👍👍
You Glasgow folks are awesome. Much love from Canada 🇨🇦🍁
Absolutely brilliant! Nice job Glasgow.
REFLECTED IN THIER ART.. FORGED THEIR CREATIVITY, CLOSER TO THIS HEART SINCE 1976 WHEN I WAS 5.
Closer to this heart since 2023!! (I'm a teenager and I discovered Rush this summer... better late than never!)
Reflect it* but close 😂
I was there and one of the crowd singing. It was an absolute brilliant night esp with the Rush pre show at Hard rock cafe during the day.
Well done, Glasgow! Hello from Canada!
What a great way to honor such a talented person. Great love
Was a fantastic night
Got in to the SORELY missed band when HOLD YOUR FIRE came out im now 54 ❤
They’re the most humble and honest people, sure do miss Mr Peart though miss him terribly
me too, he set a high benchmark and opened my mind for me when I was really really young..... left a void that can never be filled by anyone else.
Faith in humanity restored until unrestored again.
Been a fan since 76 when I heard Caress of Steel. Same year I saw them in concert. Makes me proud to be Canadian 🇨🇦
You should also be proud to be Canadian for rock band Big Wreck and Ian Thornley.
That was awesome and also from the Album that got me into RUSH!
Rush fans are the absolute fucking best
I was there. That was a fantastic moment!
Very Touching! ❤ Showing Dirk what Glasgow Nice is all about!
Outstanding Glasgow!!🍀😉

Gotta' luv' that "Sudbury dinner jacket"!! CANUCKS RULE!! 🖤♠
Living legend right there.
This video has just made my 2023. Love you, Geddy! Good on ya, Glasgow!!
Freaking awesome!❤
Getty is a class act.
Along with most Rush fans...RESPECT!
I was being undecisive. A bit of an effort to get there and back. This brought me Closer to the Heart. Now have a ticket for London on 18/12.
Been to Glasgow twice and all of the people I meet were extremely warm and friendly. I would go back to Scotland again in a heartbeat!
Saw Geddy in Vancouver, he’s awesome. Reading his book is a treasure of a life
okay that was cool
Beautifully sung, Glasgow.
That just about got me.
That was amazing. It's good to see Geddy smile. That was really nice of that man and the crowd..
Rush is one our lifetime Legends. I’m still so heartbroken of Mr. Pearl passing. RIP
I love Glasgow!
I love the Scottish people!
That was beautiful...
I was there it was great night. 👍
Bravo 🙌
Been a Rush fan since seeing the Farewell To Kings tour when I was in high school, loved ‘em ever since!
The audience was great and you could tell it really meant something to Geddy! Thanks for sharing!
Mad respect to 1 of the greatest. Forever & always. Very nice.

Very cool.
Total class, very poignant.
Well done!
That was just plain beautiful!
That was freakin awesome!! Great idea!! He has talked SO much (as you know) about that crowd that night. Incredible tribute, well done.
Typical Glasgow audience, I would have loved to have been there. Well done to my home city of Glasgow.
OH MY GOSH THIS WAS SO WHOLESOME
nicely done glasgow.
Wow....tears
wonderful
There’s no longer musicians that put so much into their craft. The epitome of music with substance, in a world of EMPTY-V.
Ah, but there are- Porcupine Tree/ Steven Wilson, Manchester Orchestra, Umphrey's McGee, Big Wreck... There is a LOT out there, it's just not on Empty-V
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Big Wreck
Brilliantly done , I was there at the Glasgow Apollo when it was recorded
That's amazing! Beautiful!
That's sooo awesome
Brilliant ! thankyou so much for sharing!
Cleveland Ohio loves RUSH.
WMMS 101 FM Home of the buzzard. Chanel High School gym Bedford Ohio May 1974. Fly By Night tour. Unfukinbelievable.
🍻
"ONE, TWO, THREE..."
❤this
That was really great. Rush didn't do a farewell tour so it is nice to see Ged touring and getting the love from his fans.
👍👍👍👍Glasgow!
Currently listening to his book on Audible... it's great to hear Geddy reading it because it really makes a difference. I just wished Rik Emmett did the same with his.
yeh i love stuff like that from the actual artist
Got the hardcover but this makes a lotta sense to me. might have to do the audible thing now
@@Tempusag the jokes are funnier plus you get to hear Alex as well say his peace
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy! ;)
Looking at the thumbnail , for a minute there I thought Alex Lifeson had eaten a little too much ham this Christmas.
The blacksmith and the artist reflective in their art…..
Canadian Rock Star...all dressed up. Way to go, eh?
Im not crying. No. Im not
Well done Glasgow!
I legit thought it was Alex onstage with him for a moment lol
Rush is infinite.
At first glance at the thumbnail I thought “wow! Alex really needs yet another new exercise trainer.”
Never heard any Rush even though I was born on 21st Dec (2112)..
Phils massive
❤❤❤🥰❤❤❤
First time I ever seen the audience would sing to the singer of the group. Singalong? Sure, many times. This? Never.
Shoulda fuckin' been Bubbles up there. Jesus fuckin' Murphy!
know what would have been even cooler? singing lyrics he wrote, like 'in the end' or 'tears'.
Read his book…there’s a story attached to this.
I feel like this was click bait. I so wanted the fans to sing this complete to the bass master
Geddy: "The singing was very nice, but dude, stop groveling! " 😆
I haven't seen Phil in a while. I had nonidea hed gone so white in the hair!
I bought his book "My Effin life" and all I have to say is BUY IT and you will see how Geddy grew up and the kid photos of him are great and the book is a great read.
I can honestly say maybe the best book I've ever read.
