The beauty of the entire thing is that he's now the Oga at the top. The great lesson to everyone that's reading/watching this piece is that we may mess up or goof at some points in our lives, we shouldn't feel downcast. Pick yourself up, learn from your mess and keep moving. We shall all get there... Cheers to Oga at the top
This man was the first to experience the real hit of social media, today he is smiling over it, but I believe it was not easy for him then. Very strong character OGA AT THE TOP
To someone watching this and reading this, that challenge won't break You; IT WILL MAKE YOU! Pain to POWER and mess to MESSAGE!!! Keep going! God's got You and You've got this!!!
What we didn’t realize by then was that the man is a courageous leader. He has turned his mess to a message that people will talk about for generations. Great man!
Channels TV just scored a goal with this interview. It is refreshing to see this happen after so many years. He still exhibits the traits of being loyal to the 'oga at the top'. Glad the negativity from that famous interview was mild on him.
I just learnt something from his experience.....in those moments we mess up and feel like having the ground open and that we vanish, we always need that caring and trusted voice that will utter those golden words, healing words and encouraging words to us.....reminding us that we are humans and we can live or do better next time. Many people have committed suicides or remained depressed for the rest of their lives because no one came for them. There are moments when your humanity will embarrass you and crush your high levels, it takes a mature and good fellow to hug you and tell you it is never the end of you and there are more good things about you than those faults
I very happy to see how the Oga at the top Saga turn out for Mr Shem. Now that he has retired he has an opportunity to leverage on his the same social media to cash in on the popolarity... skits, adverts, movies and more options are on the table
Such a nice touch. Welldone Channelstv. After 10 years, two of the three interviewers invited him again for a fresh chat. This is what life should be about. Don't ever feel that a mistake no matter how costly should mark the end of your career or even your life. Setbacks can be overcome. Don't give up.
You can see the lifelong discipline and resilience of a true military man. A dedicated and loyal servant to the core and clearly contented in himself and life. He said; we are in that age. We cant go to back the 70's. His only sin was he was not in quote a big talker The lesson is; people may try and magnify your weaknesses failures or lack of it but look what came of it. God bless you Sir
Kudos to Channels for bringing him back, this will mean alot for him and his family, interesting interview 🥰🥳 One of the key learnings from this, is having support systems that will be there for you when you screw up, it means alot 🎉though I'm not supporting mediocrity but have correct people in your life especially family members.
Good to see this Oga at the top again turning up for another life interview after that momentary lapse of memory when it was most needed. That is life that we all go through including moment of temporary insanity. Thanks to channel tv for showing us the true brilliant officer who had a moment of temporarary memory lapses when it is most needed. It is great to him redeemed himself with this display of confidence and his brilliant self.
tbh i never saw him as mediocre from a one minute gawk up in an hours interview, he spoke really well as a civil defense operator was very articulate about all that, only gaffed when thrown outside his knowledge zone, also we born in a digital age shouldnt be so nose up about people that had a different background a lot of them with the same exposure would be way smarter than most of us in the mainstream internet
This man rode the wave but he is here as sort of a victor now, it mustn't have been easy. While I don't commend mediocrity in anyway, it is good to see that that is healthy and jovial enough to come back on the program. Kudos to him
We are all forged from our own human frailties. The only difference is that his was only amplified by the new media and heralded by the fools. And yet he survived all the negativities and lived to teach a life lesson to those who never had the courage to step out of similar failings. Good job sir.
Omoh 😂. I salute your courage sir. Criticism especially coming from Nigerians, we can mock ehen especially on Social Media. Love the humurous way Chamberlin and Maupe handle the interview. Congratulations to him
To be Frank, I never knew this man is this well spoken. I thought he was one of the beneficiaries of nepotistic and incompetent promotions in the institutions. I hereby apologize for calling you " my oga at the top." You are a wonderful man❤
What I deduced from the interview was: #1. He was suspended for a month. #2. Thereafter reinstated to Oyo command. #3. His promotion was pegged till retirement. Lessons from Mr. Shem. #1. He is a very loyal man. He doesn't even want to go into details of the negative mistreatment he received. Not ready to "spill the beans". #2. He maintained a positive outlook during his ordeal.#3. HE MARRIED A GOOD AND SMART WIFE. She trademarked the phrase- "Oga At The Top". In all, marry a good and smart wife.
The fact that you granted this interview means you have overcome your ordeal. Thank you, at least, you made me happy too. I could remember how sad I was when media and some people were taking solace in your ordeal. It was unfortunate. We are all peccable but not everbody is knowledgeable or matured enough to understand that. Stay brave my brother.
It's only a few people who can turn adverse situations around and make light of it in the end. Congratulations Mr. Obafaye on your well deserved promotion and retirement. Best wishes.
One thing I learnt from this man success journey is that … he was surrounded by good people family & friends. His cousin motivated him to be strong with quotes and his wife turn the embarrassment to profit…closest people support needed to help reduce suicide rate. Kudos to all Unknown people that support this man. Aswear social media cast hurt more than cane.
This is a great turnaround and very examplary to the experience of a man's life. He went through a tough phase and kept pushing . Today he is smiling over the same issues that brought so much ridicule to his personality. I'm happy for him. 😁💯👍
For this gentle citizen to come back on air and spoke about the same issue that made him a laughing stock and brought so much disgrace him. I admire his resilience. AND I SALUTE HIM. He surely my OGA AT THE TOP.
Am so happy to c him and hear good news about him again..all glory be to God Almighty..I feel so bad about the previous interview they had with him then..he was so confused when giving answer to the question asked about his organization website but later referred to his oga at the top who he said to be in the right position to give the answer..
Thank you, Channel TV, for inviting him! A lot of people will be able to learn from his story that the reward for mistake is to get up, try to perform the task carefully again (second chance) but not to commit suicide. I am sure he felt like the ground should open and swallow him. I am also sure that his colleagues played a huge role in his wellness or else, he will not be here today. We should cease from dwelling on people's errors, it doesn't speak well about us as a Nation.
Kudos Shem, kudos channel's. Each time I call my wife " Oga @ the top we both smile & acknowledge she's day @ channels because we watched it together as a young couple then
The golden voice of his cousin marked a turnaround in his low moments. As professionals (sociologists); depression is never a reason for suicide but lack of solidarity.
He made our youthful days 10 years ago 😂😂😂❤❤e no easy to face chamberlain, maope, seun, Rufai and Ayo unprepared omo u go collect. Thanks for bringing him back more prepared and composed.
I'm so happy for this man. He's such a great personality. Glad he came back stronger and threw more light on it. Special kudos to his former commandant (the original oga at the top) for doing his best preserve his dignity. That said, that old video has continued to retain an unrivalled comic value. I still laughed so hard when it was replayed.😂 Good old days when things were much better.😢
Your inability to speak English fluently does not mean you are unable to do your work properly. Public speaking is not his strong point,he may have been a fantastic officer.
Also, people need to learn to treat people better. I don't jump on trending issues to mock people because I do not want to be on their shoes. So many people enjoy mocking others, may you not be on the negative side of a mob because it can push you to suicide. Humans can be terrible. Thank God for this man, good to see you are doing well, lightyears better than those who were mocking you.
One of the best, energetic and gallant oga NSCDC had .... he is a practical field man and always leds operations which most times comes with success. Congrats on ur retirement sir.
"FOR THIS MAN TO COME BACK TO THE STUDIO, I SALUTE HIS COURAGE & CONFIDENCE" (MY OGA AT THE TOP)
Honestly, I salute his courage

There is nothing to celebrate him for. What he portrayed during the "Oga at the top" interview was pure mediocrity
I love this man's Humility. 👍

He’s always cheerful. Well done to him.
I like this man. I think he should really go on the public speaking circuit. He should get a good agent; he has much to teach us.
A while lot. I have good bumps already. See how the wife turned lemon into lemonade stand
This man rode the wave but he is here as sort of a victor now, it mustn't have been easy. While I don't commend mediocrity in anyway, it is good to see that that is healthy and jovial enough to come back on the program. Kudos to him
I cannot categorically tell you one now and my Oga @ the top will tell you another 🤣🤣 memories

Men... He is a great man with so much courage. I salute you sir!
I love this Man Courage to come back here and his Smile.
No matter how life hits you bad, you can recover & even get abundant compensation for your losses, thats the lesson from this man's story.

No apology for stupidy
At least the man has added a phrase to the Nigerian dictionary "My Oga at the top". Congratulations on your retirement, sir!
God bless you sir, my oga at the top

I never knew he got suspended, which isn't right.
Hmmm, but this man didn't say he was suspended in this interview, how did you come to that conclusion🤷🤷🤷🤷
He wasn't suspended, but removed from the scene because a negative heat from the public was on him
The fact that you granted this interview means you have overcome your ordeal. Thank you, at least, you made me happy too. I have always respected ChannelsTV but that has gone miles higher for this gesture. I have learnt lessons from both parties🎉

He became more polished and soft-spoken
He's still addictive to that his "YES" repeatedly 😂
Lol 😂😂😂
There are phrases or words people say repeatedly while talking. For me, it's 'do you understand?'
For this gentle citizen to come back on air and spoke about the same issue that made him a laughing stock and brought so much disgrace him. I admire his resilience. AND I SALUTE HIM. He surely my OGA AT THE TOP.
Proud of you Sir

Absolutely!
that's turning lemon to lemonade. I salute you sir, well done. Next time they should direct such questions to admin officers, not field commanders.
Thank you, Channel TV, for inviting him! This man is a beautiful soul. He is also loyal. Even at home, he has an oga at the top. The wife did a patent. Smart one.
The golden voice of his cousin marked a turnaround in his low moments.
As professionals (sociologists); depression is never a reason for suicide but lack of solidarity.
He provided us with the one of the greatest meme in nigeria

Your inability to speak English fluently does not mean you are unable to do your work properly. Public speaking is not his strong point,he may have been a fantastic officer.
His own was not about good spoken English
Exactly!
Yesss
It was about not knowing the Nscdc website off hand. Try and get the information right.
He speaks good English and he could be an expert in public speaking after
Welldone Channels for inviting our oga at the top.
Wow! I'm happy for him really! DCG in paramilitary organization is not beans oh!

Lmao, first of all, you can ‘patent’ a statement.
