in 1960, I was 6 years old, and one of my jobs was to roll cigarettes by hand for my dad. when my dad bought this machine, I was in heaven no licking to moisten the cigarette wrapper.
I bought the original when these came out back in early 2010’s. Lasted 14 years now and still works like a charm, with minimal maintenance work. Truly a great product.
I have the original 😂. And, with tobacco being what it is today, using 752, I have to pack pretty well. And, tap, tap & tap. With shake flying everywhere. I make 100'S, even tho my machine is only for Kings. You can only make 1 cigarette at a time with any machine 😂, so I didn't want to start out with the most expensive. I've bought the Powermatic 2, which stays in the box. It was a nightmare. Rarely did I ever get the tobacco to reach the filter. Picking out the wood sticks & clumps is what makes it so hard. Let's not forget the Gnats LOL- which might as well be family members now! I love this little machine & it gets cleaned, oiled & back in it's box each time I use. I do daily B/C my back is in excruciating pain & the repetitive pulling is too much. Thanks
i used a top o matic for about 10 years. Switched to an electric machine called the Hawkmatic about 4 years ago. Ive rolled over 200,000 cigs on it with no problems.
@@joseph5348 I have used the Powermatic 2 and hated how much it jammed . I much prefer the Hawkmatic (HK2) that I got on Amazon. Only 50 bucks, never jams and comes with a 20,000 roll warranty.
Georgiabridgman2850. I have the opposite experience. The first one lasted three years. The second is supposed to make 100's but makes less than kings. A lot of our tubes are wasted when we use it. I bought the second version for PowerMatic II+. I bought it used and it worked really well. But the last few days it has failed in getting tobacco to the filter or tearing one side of the tubes. On that note, I am going to try our PowerMatic Top-O-Matic manual machine again. From what I've seen here, I've been pulling the lever towards me, which causes stress on me. I'm going to try it the way he shows to do it.
The original ones were pretty good the new ones they sell now are garbage. Do not waste 50 bucks on one. I have had 4 and the latest one is thrown out in the back yard.
Ah, memories. I was thankfully able to finally quit smoking in 2019. Don't miss it at all, but still have a fondness for nostalgia. That Top-O-Matic was a part of my life for almost 10 years. $5 for a pack of Marlboros was the breaking point for me in terms pre-rolled cigarettes. I got a T-O-M and started rolling my own for less than $1 oer pack.

@ check the moving parts, my most recent one had burrs of metal on the hinges that needed to be shaved down
