@@arottie4097 No, I don't. I just have an inkling. It seems all of the sailing channels are making babies during the COVID lockdowns. Time will tell if I'm right or wrong. 😁
What a pleasant surprise catching this new video so soon after your previous one. Sorry Isabelle that you've been having to deal with the sea sickness, but Kieran keeps you in good hands. Absolutely loving French Polynesia! Much love to you both, and again thank you for taking me along. Doc
Like# 398. Capt. Flaco don't worry about oversleeping as long as that jem mamasita stays beside you, what a dream. It helps when you see the horizon when sea sickness comes, better to be outside than inside. Atos look amazing, just like yours eyes, you can swim in them. love from Antigua Guatemala, OsoYolo.
So for the Hydrovane: Carry extra bolts. And maybe a Z bracket with two more bolts outside the casting to hold down the Z with the Hydrovane bolts going through the raised part of the Z. This way the extra bolts support the two key bolts. (I've found in a wide range of applications that two bolts/screws/nails support each other, dampening movement and stress.) They shouldn't have sheered off, so they were either over tightened, or undersized; or as you point out better the bolts than the casting. Of course once you get the right bolts, replace both of them. I've got a Hydrovane on my boat, I keep docking into it. Not hard, but I shouldn't be doing it. So definitely get a couple more spec'd bolts before I sail away. thanks.
What a contrast from David’s bay to Tuamotu. Both stunning locations for different reasons. You guys are really spoiling us. It’s such a shame Isabelle suffers from seasickness, but the rewards are well worth the discomfort. Can’t wait for next weeks vlog.

Isabelle, bless your heart with the sea sickness….awful. I heard the comment about not taking medicine for it. I’ll just mention this one that works for me. Well done with this video - would this be the longest you've ever posted? My impressions (and my apologies if I sound a bit blunt): maybe don't push _Merewether_ that hard? As you say, the boat pushes back; and two things happen: things break, and your lady gets seasick and doesn't enjoy the trip as much. Wind back on the speed and the risk of those two things happening reduces. The hydrovane bolt: I'm guessing you'll be looking for 316 stainless, and I'd be going for zinc-plated clear-passivated as well, which is what we always installed on land installations near the coast. (Before that it was cadmium-plated, but that got banned years ago in the EU, Australia, etc, on environmental grounds.) But you might find that hard to get where you are ... might have to go with what you can get there, get a replacement mailed to your next destination, and once you reach there be prepared to remove a corroded fastener set and replace it with stainless?
I believe it is one of the longest we’ve posted haha we really didn’t want to turn this sail into two movies. What did you think, should we do more long videos? Great thoughts your putting in you comment. The both of us definitely didn’t enjoy this sail and normally we’ll sail quite slower than this. On this particular occasion we had to be at our destination by a certain time otherwise we would have spend 24 hours heave to outside the atoll in the ocean and waves. Definitely will be trying to plan better next time. Thanks for your comment
@@SailingMerewether It wasn't quite clear from the video, but should I assume that someone is always on watch? When I single-hand I sleep but get up every 25 minutes to check the horizon and sail trim. But that includes sleeping during the day as well.
@@SailingMerewether I am binge watching your channel (and very much enjoying them) but jumped to the Hydrovane one since you are not the first voyager to have problems with the lower mount of the vane.

@@SailingMerewether When I started paragliding, every time I went into a cloud I got motion sickness. Then I added a big Silva marine bubble compass to my cockpit setup, and discover that if I kept my eyes on the compass while maneuvering into the cloud, I didn't get sick. Just some basic points that might help you with your Hydrovane; 1: Balance your rig to reduce the work the hydrovane has to do 2: From the footage it appeared you had the Hydrovane sail rigged vertically, considering the conditions you may have increased the rake of the Hydrovane sail to reduce its sensitivity to the stronger winds. 3: Not sure if you tried to adjust the Hydrovane steering ratio......maybe 1:1 would have been an appropriate setting You probably already knew these, just trying to help ..... not teach you how to suck eggs, cheers
