Happy New Year Lou. I'm a long time viewer/subscriber, first time commenter. I look forward to Friday nights because I know you will be posting another video. Your builds are always interesting and beautifully done. Plus, I always learn something new.
David Sisson is a scratch builder and makes brilliant replicas of studio miniatures. He shows the build process on his website including his UFO interceptor.
@@aztekdummy None taken, dear man. David, Phil Rae and Martin Bower are the best resources on all things Anderson. I spoke to David recently about trying to obtain crepe pinstriping tape, as I am building a UFO Skydiver, but alas, nobody seems to make it any more, but I did find someone that had similar 1mm and 2mm PVC tape, made, of all things, to decorate ladies nails.
That looks so cool. You did a fantastic job on the new cockpit. Definitely has an authentic look to it. Can't wait to see it completed. Happy New Year and can't wait to see what you're involved in for 2025! ✌️❤️😀
As a Brit, Gerry Anderson is considered a god of the 1960's and 70's. UFO is my personal favourite of all Gerry's shows. Not being a resin-builder in any way, shape, or form, I am on tenterhooks waiting for the MPC models coming soon(ish)....
You're right Lou - once you see that row of doorbells behind the pilot, you're never going to unsee them (and to think they were embarrassed by the lemon squeezer in the Thunderbird 1 launch bay....)!!! From the thumbnail I thought you'd got your hands on a pre-release from Round 2 but we all know Christmas miracles only happen in the Movies. Time to spend the money stashed away for these on some 3d prints...lll
Wow, what a subject. I am a huge fan of this craft, possibly my favourite sci-if design, well at least equal to the Space 1999 Eagle! It’s looking fabulous and loving how you’ve made the cockpit more accurate to the studio design. Very much looking forward to part 2. 👍👍
Happy New Year Lou! Interceptor is looking great. Practical, maybe not but still a cool, iconic design. I think you forgot to mention the Ornithopter that you did at the same time as the Rhedosaurus. Best wishes for a healthy and productive 2025.
Happy New Year Lew. A great subject to start the year with. For a moment before I started watching the video I thought you might have gotten an early test shot of the new proposed injection plastic UFO Interceptor. Lovely looking model though.
Happy New Year from me to you, Lou. What a lovely build to see in the New Year with....nothing too challenging....well not enough to dissolve the grey matter ! The Interceptor took me back some, I remember having the die-cast model of this craft ( it fired the missile too ) as a kid. The same as the Eagle Transporter, Thunderbird's 2, 4 & 3 ....oh happy days......kids today have nothing compared to what we had as kids. Have you seen the Hatchette Partworks DALEK that is coming out starting this month ? ( fully remote control. It has all the bells and whistles ( apart from actual flight ) ) Wayne has done a bit on this kit over on his channel. I'm looking forward to this build...which will also be my Baptism by Fire shall we say..... in addition I'm going to do my own Paint scheme on this model....it's a Time War version anyways, so I'm going to paint it deep metallic blue casing and silver dome and sense hemispheres to replicate a Member of the Eternity Circle
One thing I really like about Alain's models is that on top of the quality level he also invests effort into making sure we have toom for electronics. What people then do from there is their choice.
This is so cool! I took advantage of the discount on Gambody and DL this kit along with one other. Going to love seeing this built up. Happy New year btw. Stay warm these next couple of weeks.
I thought you did a couple of Wacky Racers last year also, that is an impressive count considering you in no way rushed any of them. And you took time for trips and to be with family and friends.
Happy New Year Lou! 🎊🎉 Many thanks for all the information, ideas and entertainment you have given us during 2024. It was great to meet you and Phil at Telford. Here's looking forward to a healthy and fun 2025 👍😁 (PS. Since you mentioned "Enterprise" and as per my comment on your last video - any chance that you can have a word with your friends at Round 2 and get them to finally produce a new 1/537 Refit to replace the 40+ year-old inaccurate one?!)
I don't see it happening. Tooling metal is the most expensive part of the process, and that money is better spent on new kits rather than fixing old ones.
@@aztekdummy Yes, I realise it would be extremely expensive. I feel it needs a completely new tool rather than reworking the ancient moulds. As with any kit there would be high up-front costs but I think that if it was accurate and high quality it would sell like hot cakes and quickly recoup the investment, after all, the Refit is a very popular subject. How many people are spending as much as the kits cost just to get accurate parts and decals from various suppliers. If the kit was accurate in the first place the manufacturer could still charge a premium and people would be prepared to buy it rather than go to the expanse and hassle of hacking the kit around and fitting aftermarket parts to get something at least reasonably accurate. It's this lack of accuracy and extra cost and hassle that is stopping me building one, so there's one lost sale for a start. Oh, well - I live in hope 😞
Just added a similar comment but hey, we're just kidding ourselves - the Round 2 UFO kits (first announced in 2022 - let that sink in) will never see the light of day. However, there are some fantastic 3d printed versions currently doing the rounds and there's a Japanese company releasing a large pre built saucer imminently.....
For a moment thought it was going to be a test-shot of the mobius planned UFO release. But this is still good. (UFO series 2 was in pre-production when it was cancelled. So Gerry Anderson re-tooled it as Space 1999)
Considering the interior and landing gear inaccuracies of the kit you've pointed out, it makes me wonder, what reference material was used when designing the Interceptor kit?
Great work on scratch building a more accurate cockpit Lou. The kit part was far too modern jet fighter looking and way out of Gerry Anderson style of models. I was wondering if you have ever built or have the big 1/144 scale Thunderbird 2 resin kit in your stash of kits, I need to get round to building my kit one day. Happy New Year to you.
Have you built the Dragon's Domain (Space: 1999) Diorama that there are 3d files of Lou? I haven't seen it in your past videos, I'd love to see your build of that particular subject.
Always Good to see some good old Gerry Anderson shows getting some love. Thanks Lou👍
Great year Lou. I appreciate you and all you give to our model community. Be well sir.
Late 60’s to mid 70’s, Thunderbirds, Star Trek, UFO, and Space 1999 were a staple of my youth. Awesome kit.
love it, beautiful kit! Look forward to seeing it completed. Have a fantastic new year Lou!
Thanks for all the entertainment in 2024, Lou. Looking forward to more great stuff in 2025!
HAPPY, HEALTHY.l, WONDER-FILLED NEW YEAR, LOU and thanks for another year of enjoyable videos! Here's to your successful building and showing in 2025!

Love the looks of the paint as well. Good find Lou. Gonna try that out as well. It's really adding to the look of this model.
I’m so excited to see this , I love the interceptor. I wish I had one of my own

I just don't understand how he got the cockpit so wrong when there is such a wealth of good references.
Looks like an Excelsior saucer donated a section of the impulse deck to the excellent cockpit scratch build. 👍
Good call!
