My guts were churning until Boise got their 2nd TD. For a defense that held Hawaii to 7, and had 8 sacks, it sure seemed like it should have been a lot worse. On offense, Boise had great moments like the 4th down conversions, but moments where I was wondering what the problem was. Finally, that end of half punt was a bouncing bullet. Trying to field that was highly risky. Could have been a fumble with a scoop and score which would have put Hawaii up at the half.
That was a battle!! I knew it would be tough on the islands because it always is. Hats off to Hawaii for playing us close they were only giving up 12.5 pts a game so their D is good. Jeanty earned every yard and they found a way to slow him down a little. He still had 217 yards on 31 carries and our D had 8 sacks!! We have an incredible team still and not all games are going to won easily. Now we know we can win when our backs are against the wall. I hope we rest up but need to be focused and ready for UNLV because sloppy play won’t get it done in Vegas. I think we lose Tuebner first half now too right? Madsen and receivers seemed off a bit and Jayden Virgin Morgan was on fire!
Teubs will be back for the whole game vs UNLV since he was ejected in the first half. The punishment for a targeting ejection is to sit out the remainder of the half in which the call is made and the full subsequent half. Having sat out the second half at Hawaii he's good to go after the bye week 🤙

Offensively they have massive holes and it holds them back as a team. Overall we did what we needed to do, i dont think alot of MWC teams are going to be putting up 40, 50 points on this Hawaii defense.
I understand Mad dog had some rough plays this game but this is his most important game. While he did hold back the offense at times, he was also trusted to toss the rock on some crucial crucial plays and he converted every time we needed it. While it can be tough to watch these are the games that will boost his confidence in crunch time vs future big time opponents. When BSU goes out to accomplishes their lofty goals this year mad dog will have to step up just like he did on the island hopefully he continues to do his thing.
YES! The trust shown in him was huge! Boise State throwing on 4th and short with Jeanty in the backfield was unexpected and now defenses will need to account for it!
Great road win Broncos! Not easy to travel far and come away victorious. I was hoping that last drive that scored and made it 35-7. Let Jeanty punch in another TD
Still staying with the being a 4th Qtr. team (which is great), multiple Kneel down's to end the game in "very close" scoring range, so really red zone stats and scoring offense even better, but being classy and respectful of huge value in other ways.
I thought it was MM second best game of the season. It was so huge to not have any turnovers and convert on those 4th downs. That was probably the deciding factor
My biggest concern, was only scoring 3 pts over 2 quarters. The Broncos arrived 2 days prior to game day, don't think you can argue jet lag. Lastly, when will your UNLV live preview air? Thanks for another great review.
Definitely an issue, Hawaii ball control definitely played a key part. There were only 7 drives in the game that didn’t end in kneeling downs and Boise State scored on 5 of those which isn’t bad but their offensive potential was definitely limited by Hawaii’s play style. UNLV preview will air 7pm MST on the 17th.
You got my name right, or very, very, close. The “s” is a bit softer. I’m a bit sad I was close, but what I thought would happen did happen. Jeanty carried the team, the defensive line stepped up, but our passing game simply couldn’t function well enough to let this team score the way it wants to! I want to be clear, Madsen is our best qb, and I support him, this is why folks are nervous about this team.
Glad I was able to finally pronounce a name correctly for a shout out! Disagree on Madsen as again I think he played strong and if not for 2 dropped passes we’d be having a very different discussion about his performance.
@@BroncoBleymaier we can disagree. I see the strong plays he made that you point out. I’m also of the opinion that he should have thrown a couple picks and his inconsistency and inaccuracy largely caused the lull in rhythm of the first half. He’ll get there, but I thought the island game exposed his weaknesses more than his strengths, especially when the opposing quarterback looked so much better. I really felt for that kid, if he had what Madsen has, or if we had him, the combo would be unstoppable.
Great analysis. Personally I felt this was the most sluggish and slow this team has looked. It seemed like they just didn't want to be there. It feels weird that the defense gave up only 7 points but it feels like they gave up a lot more. The offensive play calling was weird to me as well they just giving it to jeanty up the middle everytime, when It seems he is better in space, like in the first half they handed it to him on the outside and he scored from 54 then they never tried it again. Just a weird game.
To Hawaii's credit they did a great job stopping him at the line. He actually does run up the middle alot but just bounces to the outside once he breaks the line. Gotta mix it up to keep the defense honest.
Why do you think there are no sweep calls for Jeanty? Everything was running up the middle where Hawaii stacked box. A sweep gives Jeanty space to run. Head scratcher for me on that play calling. Mix it up with sweeps, but I never saw one sweep play for Jeanty.
Issue with those kinda plays is that if it gets stopped its almost always a loss of yards. Jeanty is a battering ram so pointing him downhill is a sure way to stay ahead of the sticks. I agree they should have maybe tried a few more outside runs but I thought the gameplan for him was fine even if it was a bit safe. This was maybe the best defense BSU has faced all season, I think they didnt wanna risk putting Madsen in too many 3rd and longs.
Let's not forget that every MWC team that BSU plays is going to treat this as their big bowl game. Regardless of the team's record, they are gonna bring it against BSU. BSU will need to stay focused each and every week. Especially those team's we are leaving behind in the MW. Just my opinion.
In my opinion there were a lot of delays in this game that interrupted momentum. Seemed like there were continual delays due to injuries, play reviews, etc. It was a frustrating game to watch. Hard to keep momentum going when there were continual delays. Yes, it was a good enough win all things considered.
AP poll means zero (as you have said), CFP poll coming out soon I think?, and really the only thing that matters is finding some way to go 1-0 in 2 weeks against UNLV. Go Broncos
We held them to 23 total rushing yards with 8 sacks?!?! That is dominant even though the game didn’t feel that way. This was a weird game. It felt close for most the game. I even fell asleep for a few minutes at the end of the third quarter. And then wake up to…ohhh we are doing pretty good. Good stats. Hmmm. Good game. I am not going to complain about a 21 point win with 8 sacks. Hard fought game. Good win. We need these kinds of wins. Challenged. Win.
If this is the team that goes up against UNLV, we are going to get steamrolled! Then again, we did start seeing our usual team in the 4th. Hopefully their energy was just off because of the travel.
@@BroncoBleymaier , I’d like to think so as well. I’m sure all of our other dominant performances were not flukes! We are so much better than last year. I also feel that Madsen is coming into his own. He’s been doing better than earlier this season.
A smaller mix of blitzing 5+ would be good...we get burned almost ever time. Sending 4-5 we plenty of pressure but obviously we need to keep 6 players in coverage
When 2 out of 3 drives stall out in the red zone and they are driving late in the third with only a 6 point lead it definitely doesn’t feel like a guaranteed win. The longer you let teams like that hang around the more likely they are to beat you.
He was good, had some bad moments but also some awesome moments and was clutch when it mattered most. However, unlike the fanbase in general I’m always going to be fair and balance in my analysis. I will point out both the negative and the positives and the summarize the overall output. He was good but definitely had a lot of learning points from this one
Definitely not the win we expected but I think there will be alot of positives that come from it. What did you think of my reaction/analysis to this performance?
@@BroncoBleymaier a little disappointed tbh(not at your reaction), was just hoping for a big win after Oregon knocked off Ohio state which would’ve boosted our street cred a ton , but now I feel like the media and general public will point to this instead
@Cper14 like I said, I do think we maybe missed an opportunity to make a big jump in the rankings but that can come next week and at the end of the day the AP poll doesn’t matter. The CFP committee will look at our total record and what Oregon has been doing and this win was just enough for it not to have a negative impact even if it doesn’t give us a boost. We’ll get our chance to benefit off Oregon’s win in a few weeks when the CFP poll comes out
The secondary is gonna kill me. I do not understand what on earth is wrong with the them. The look lost. So many throws completed right in the middle of so many white jerseys. Unbelievable that we are so slow and many players are not improving. I saw only two players actually turn around. No interceptions upcoming if we don’t turn around and see the ball. Pretty much every time Hawaii lines up to throw, I knew they would get a completion. REMEMBER that Hawaii made so many mistakes. This should have been an easy win. I’m conflicted today but last night was completely frustrated
We are having some players stepping up. McCoy is starting to hit his peak, Banks is really stepping up and Zion Washington had another good game. I think more than anything it is defensive scheme but even with that Boise State had 8 PDs and stopped Hawaii on nearly every drive mostly because of the secondary
I went overkill my prediction I think I said 56 to 14 or something like that, just by looking at the score you can see that our defense stepped up a little bit, but they had some crucial mistakes Hawaii did on offense . Was just a very AVERAGE game
I think offense should be lower because it failed to find a rhythm in the first half, so I think it gets a solid B I think the defense gets a higher A-. The sacks won that game.
@@BroncoBleymaier no doubt. I’m much higher on our defense than our passing game. I trust this defense to go undefeated, and as long as we can keep relying on number 2, I trust the offense, but what I saw when we couldn’t run on Saturday was discomforting.
This game was prep for UNLV in a few weeks. Itll be the same grind it out game. Unfortunately Boise st QB is gonna get smashed all day if he doesnt get the ball out fast enough or become mobile. Unlv too fast and intelligent on defense. Unlv is the 4th ranked rushing team in the clu try with also a positive take away ratio. 32-35 Unlv wins.
@BroncoBleymaier , you haven't played anyone of significant value except oregon. How do you explain the turn over ratio of UNLVs defense in the same period of time? Your QB is mediocre at best. Qb has little running ability, that won't be enough to slow down the defense. Your a Boise Homer, I'm a realistic gambler with a 72% win ratio. I'll take my ratio against the spread and in certin spots outright wins against your podcast any day. No one wants to hear the truth when it hurts man, I get. This is why Bosie st went from 12 down to 17 or 18 in the polls, including BYU which will win in Florida next week by a very small margin.
@kimoBotelho we were never #12. If you do this little research for your gambling you must be very lucky. By the way here is a number to call if you ever decide you want some help with your addiction 1-800-GAMBLER
Just clarifying. You said that BSU didn’t score on their first drive of the game and that Hawaii was driving on their first drive of the game and that was part of why there was worry about which direction the game would go.
40 min and no talk about the targeting penalty? This is Teubner's 2nd this season... Getting disqualified halfway through these close games is unacceptable. I get that he is an aggressive player, and I like that about him, but he can't do that to the team. Good analysis overall but the defense has been straight up unreliable so far this season. Not bad, just unreliable.
I had it written down to mention and I ended up forgetting to. However this is only his first as the first one was overturned. Just a mistake and not a trend
@@BroncoBleymaier Doesnt matter if it was overturned after the game by the NCAA cuz it still happened and he missed almost the entire 2nd half. Having that questionable one against Oregon and now a clear one against Hawaii makes it a trend. He was the MWC championship DMVP last year and is now losing playing time cuz he cant control where he puts his helmet.
Silence the gun specifically was a C+ I believe because he still had 260+ yards passing but the defense overall benefited in their grade from the low points total 😁
It is nice to know they can win when things are not going 100% their way. This was the ultimate trap game with a bye-week coming and potential to overlook them. I will be at the Vegas game, expect to see a totally different performance.
Very uninspired, unmotivated football. Ugly and weird all the way around. Considering who we played against I’m worried. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Jeanty dropped a bit in the Heisman.
He underthrows cuz he's afraid of the INT yet almost every game the defense drops an easy one. He played good but not great.
Gonna be honest, terrible game but i don’t see this being a pattern or issue, good to get it out now rather than against unlv
We’ll get our chance to benefit off Oregon’s win in a few weeks when the CFP poll comes out
I was suffering A.A. so much last night.
You hit it, the lack of speed! It's jarring.
We are having some players stepping up. McCoy is starting to hit his peak, Banks is really stepping up and Zion Washington had another good game. I think more than anything it is defensive scheme but even with that Boise State had 8 PDs and stopped Hawaii on nearly every drive mostly because of the secondary
Anyone else concerned about the injuries, seems like every game there’s 10 players missing
Part of pretty much every season but what’s impressive is how well Boise State is managing to overcome those injuries and still be elite
Football is a violent game. Next man up. Glad to see we got some players ready to play.
I went overkill my prediction I think I said 56 to 14 or something like that, just by looking at the score you can see that our defense stepped up a little bit, but they had some crucial mistakes Hawaii did on offense . Was just a very AVERAGE game
Hawaii defense is also just simply very surprisingly impressive
Bro, they had 8 sacks that's not even close to "average". The offense, maybe. But the team dug deep and came up with a win on the road.
I wouldn’t call 8 sacks, 8 PDs, and 7 pints allowed average 🤷🏻♂️
I think offense should be lower because it failed to find a rhythm in the first half, so I think it gets a solid B
I think the defense gets a higher A-. The sacks won that game.
Sacks and the secondary standing strong when it mattered. 8 PDs
Madden has just 3 sacks on the year for a reason 🤷🏻♂️
Boise got caught looking ahead to UNLV. Need to preform at an elite level as they don’t have high caliber opponents left.
I’m not sure that’s true. I think it’s just always tough to play in Hawaii
#15
Hawaii went 3 and out on their first drive and BSU kicked a FG on their first drive…
Yes…?
Just clarifying. You said that BSU didn’t score on their first drive of the game and that Hawaii was driving on their first drive of the game and that was part of why there was worry about which direction the game would go.
@tjbingman7871 I meant didn’t score a Touchdown. Sorry if that was confusing
I blame the game it on jet lag
You rated "Silence the Gun" as a C! They only scored 7. How about a B!
Silence the gun specifically was a C+ I believe because he still had 260+ yards passing but the defense overall benefited in their grade from the low points total 😁
Keyshawn trashy butt said jeanty should get it cuz of the school he plays for said baylor and colorado were bigger more well knoun brands
It is nice to know they can win when things are not going 100% their way. This was the ultimate trap game with a bye-week coming and potential to overlook them. I will be at the Vegas game, expect to see a totally different performance.
I think it will be made for TV viewing 💯🦾🦾👀
Very uninspired, unmotivated football. Ugly and weird all the way around. Considering who we played against I’m worried. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Jeanty dropped a bit in the Heisman. I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but while I think he’s good, I'm not sure if he's Heisman worthy.
Overall just an odd, concerning, lackluster game.
He didn't drop at all betting odds are overwhelming Jeanty
Interesting take….. Jeanty had 217 yards rushing
If you haven't noticed, Hawaii has played close to everyone including ucla. They have a killer D, best in the conference. Bsu expected tough game. They got it.
