You mention TS Eliot several times and listening to the poems and extracts you read I can hear the echoes in Eliot's poems. The Wasteland, as you said but also The Journey of the Magi and probably others. Thank you!
Dr HH enlivens her lecture with interesting anecdotes and digressions which shed a sliver of light on Tennyson as friend, husband, son, a mild-eyed melancholic, a public figure, and above all a consummate artist. She wears her awesome erudition very lightly so as to make Tennyson accessible. even to non-specialist.
This presentation by Dr. Heineman is a newly discovered jewel for me. I've listened to it a few times already, and trust I'll be back again for many more.
