I liked Ragnarok cycle being broken.
But.,Asgardians are gods.
And have a symbiotic ( or parasitic ) relationship w/ worshippers.
I think it'd be cool to meet survivors from earlier Asgards. Lesser gods that for whatever reason...were not actually in (their) Asgard when shit hit fan and hot wiped out by Surtur or whoever.

I did not like the god city / library / sanctuary...whatever it was.
While I've no problem using biblical heaven as a pocket cosmology similar to Asgard and/or Olympus...
I would've kept it very separate from other god realms...except where needed to interact.
For example
.. a young prince Odin...taking a break from Ancient Avengers...but not ready to return home to his father Bor. Or be ignored in favor of his twin elder brothers Vi and Vili...
So...he goes to explore ancient pre-Olympian dimension...and others. In time exploring Heaven/Haven and some of its subdimensions... and has a fling with a goddess/angel....and leaves...returning to Asgard eventually before learning of his offspring. Angela....

I'm decades behind concerning comics. But have managed to occasionally get little tidbit updates.
* I liked where many Ragnarok cycles...many versions...if Asgard.. were depicted. Each with its own THOR, LOKI, etc. And .. I presume...each with a version of MJOLNIR.
and I had no prob with unworthy THOR and Jane Foster/THOR.
and I liked the God butcher story too.
But not everything I've read about ...did I like.

i wish Walt Simonson had done more with this, as cool as it was. perhaps restore the lands?
I absolutely loved the first arc. Breaking into Helheim was a letdown, but I'm hoping that the third arc (if there is one) goes back to this quality.
@@cheloxmv i agree. it started off great but was a letdown toward the end. it doesn't look like Simonson is going to continue this at this late date. it's been years now. Walt is retired unless he decides to take on a project so perhaps he'll do something new with Thor. Marvel won't like it but you can't copyright Thor like you can Superman.
that's why Simonson was able to do this version of Thor at all. notice that he drew Mjolnir as its been depicted in old Norse art. the Prose Edda for one, not as it's been drawn since Kirby first drew Thor. a more authentic take than Marvel including his own run on Thor. while Simonson didn't change the look of Mjolinr then, he did finally break the "Classic Thor" look of Kirby, and it needed to be broken. it was a dated by the 80's. the comic was stale and floundering compared to what both Marvel and DC were doing by then.
you could easily say Walt Simonson saved Thor as a comic. because he did.

Ragnarok from Walter Simonson. This story isn't from Marvel and is based on the actual nordic myths. The author is the greatest (Marvel) Thor writer so it have some of the superhero flavor.

Credit to Douglas Adams who credited Thor with real power. Based on science. Thunder is sound. The lightning creates the vacuum. The thunder is its closing. OK. What is lightning? Streams of electron plasma. So Thor controls electrons...what other elementry particles does he control? Answer: all of them. He is the god of the flowing particles. Matter transmutation certainly in his power set. Its just a matter of figuring out how to use his power. When not flying into a rage, when having time to think..well what can't he do. A little Imagination goes a long way.
