As someone who does not agree with most of the political positions taken by MSNBC's commentators I have always respected Kornacki. He seems like a pure statistician and researcher, and his information is fact-based rather than colored by his own political positions. We need more like him in the news business these days!

As a democrat, i think Trump was not hurt by Roe cause he successfully detached himself from that debate. Crazy as it sounds, Trump was the most moderate on the issue, positionally. I think the most Kamala hammered that abortion fearmongering the more she seemed alienated from the voters priorities, that were, consistenly, the economy and immigration.

    • @Calbeck

It's worse than that: the Mississippi law which was at the center of the matter was ROE-COMPLIANT. Problem is that Roe had been outdated already by Casey, which no one talks about, but which declared that "patient privacy" made any and all "unreasonable" impediments to abortion unlawful without defining "unreasonable". Because Roe was also predicated on the notion of patient privacy, the Supreme Court was forced by the adoption of Casey to directly assess whether such a right existed Constitutionally - that being the holding in Roe AND Casey. The Court found it was not; that privacy is in fact regulated by Congressional laws which routinely allow violations of privacy any time there is a "prevailing interest".
That's why the whole thing was sent back to the States to decide on abortion rights - pro-abortion activists kept pushing until the issue fell off the proverbial cliff.

If you were pro-life, 95% of those people supported trump. Among pro-choice it was split 60/40 for Harris. Trump definitely positioned as a moderate on this issue even if he was responsible for Dobbs

Trump was a Manhattan Democrat. It's no wonder you can't attack Trump from the right. The only attack that could work is from the populist side, but the Democrats are the very definition of the establishment elites and turning more anti-working class.

  • @fibonacci112358s

Okay, here are the real reasons:
    1. Kamala was a DIE (Diversity Inclusion Equity) candidate. Through Ocean Gate and Boeing, and Chicago's "super-mayor", we have learned just how dangerous underqualified candidates can be. Kamala might try to paint herself as a meritorious candidate, but if you look back at the Democrat primaries, she was not even a consideration. In any case, her past support of DIE policies is difficult to backtrack from.
    2. She badly squandered the funds that were available to her. If there was any question that she was completely ill-qualified to run the country (c.f. point 1), just look at how she ran her own election campaign, and ended $20M in debt. She refused to do the actual work that was necessary, such as participate in unscripted interviews, and meet the reasonable requests of Joe Rogan.
    3. Kamala refuses to back down from her idiotic "wealth tax" that many, many accountants have repeatedly explained is completely impractical.
    4. Her other economic policies were either ill-defined, or simply bad. For example, a core component of her "opportunity economy" was student loan forgiveness - an idiotic idea that completely overlooks the graduates who have already paid back their debts (because they studied worthwhile degrees). It was merely a cynical mechanism to transfer wealth from tax-paying blue-collar workers, to people who are privileged enough for the luxury of studying a liberal arts degree.
    5. She failed to understand young men, and the concerns that they face. Her "what makes a real man" campaign advertisements were so terrible, they almost straddled the line between reality and satire.

She also had an impossible needle to thread, in that she and Joe Biden utterly blew it in many, many ways that was highly visible to the voters, and then they're asking for more. They drove this nation like it was stolen (hmm), or at least, their handlers did. There simply was not enough smoke and mirrors to cover all that up. The media-democrat complex is ludicrously trying to find all of these peripheral reasons why it turned out this way, as if campaigns are like Rube Goldberg machines, and forgot all about the impact of good old-fashioned governance.

The fact that the blue states took away so much freedom during the pandemic caused an exodus to Texas and Florida. As California loses electoral votes, they gain them. Red states are just better to live in. And if you notice, the blue states they leave don't seem to be getting bluer as a result. Having Florida and Ohio out of play makes for a brutal electoral map for democrats at the national level, and they don't have any easy answers.

    • @leechowning2712

With 1-2 percent further swing, there would no longer be competitive electoral college races. This has happened 3 times in US history, and normally leads to a 3rd party taking over as people quit voting for "the always a bridesmaid" party. Both the DNC and RNC were one of those in their own times. In the much wider electoral world we face now, it is actually more likely we will wind up in a multi-party world as a percent will stay with the DNC, others will join the greens, and others will spread to smaller parties like the libertairians.

Increased oil and gas drilling in Texas, Pennsylvania, North Dakota, and Ohio will further move these states to the right as more citizens'' livelihoods depend on it. And in the 2030s, for a Republican to win the presidency, there is a good chance that the Republican does not need to win at least one Great Lake state (Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania) to win. Because in 2024 in 2028, if the Republican won North Carolina, Georgia, and Arizona, they would just need to win one of the three Great Lakes states, either Wisconsin, Michigan, or Pennsylvania to win the election

I mean no point arguing with Trump voters you guys can enjoy him for the next 4 years or so but don’t you ever come to the blue states you’re not welcome here. This is why Red States are pretty much gonna be absolutely miserable and destroyed if there’s anything bad happens red states only have one working industry while blue states got plenty. Just look at California it has showbiz, tech jobs, renewable energy and maybe even agriculture now compare that to Florida. Florida is practically powered only by Disney, if Disney close its theme parks then that’s it for Florida. Well maybe they can turn Mar a Lago to be an attraction considering it is a literal circus over there 😂😂😂😂

Democrat scolds are a big turnoff. I was talking quietly with a friend in a New Jersey state park, when a woman came up to us and said we can't have that conversation there. She told US to leave, because SHE was eavesdropping and didn't agree with us! I laughed at her and said that if she was going to eavesdrop on private conversations she should expect to hear things she didn't like. Neither of us were shouting, or wearing Trump gear, but she felt she had the right to tell us off! I have been on the reverse side of that at least 100 times, and never said a word to the speakers. Very good points raised by Steve here, specifically on abortion at the beginning of the video and the divide in how people vote based on their gender. Trump won at the national level because he can have checks and balances placed on him by the Senate and the House - abortion, even in 2022, post-Dobbs, only cost Trump-aligned candidates their races, the Governor's races where Republicans comfortably won had popular views on abortion that aligned with their states.

What it tells me that for republicans to win, they need the stars to align and have maga voters and non-maga republicans voting at the same time, like in 2024. And even in that case, the down ballot candidates still performed worse than Trump. We have no idea how all these dynamics will play out when Trump is no longer running for president. Low propensity trump voters may no longer have a hero, and democrats may no longer have a punching bag. Turnout will be unpredictable and interesting.

I do get it that people are generally split ticket voters however I still don’t understand is that especially in the red states where many of these very progressive ballot measures come to pass of why they’re still voting for these Republican governors or Republican senators and representatives that may try to block these ballot measures from being implemented ? I mean if this is not an oxymoron I don’t know what is.

As somebody who has done a lot of research on ballot measures and direct democracy (I even wrote a book on it), it has a lot to do with what they prioritize. For instance, just because somebody supports abortion rights doesn't mean it's their top concern when they pull the lever for a candidate.

2024 : TOO BIG TO RIG .. No chance of lock downs / mail-in ballots / Ballot stuffing / Keeping out counting observers ! We knew your game from 2020 and didn't allow you to play the game ! ... RESULTS SPOKE FOR THEMSELVES. 😜🤣
