    Pete's GU called Doug is a stock 3.0 diesel. Stock manual & gears. Arb air lockers front & rear. 2 - inch lift on the rear & 3 -inch on the front. 35' Mickey Thompson tyres beadlocked. Springs & shocks Idk what brands but the steering damper is OME. I've never seen a detailed walkaround anywhere on TH-cam so hope this helps someone a bit.

    Fantastic series. Nicely done Tyler 👍 3-4yrs ago now, a crazy (some might even say "stupid") mate and his girlfriend tackled Billy Goat Bluff track on an almost stock standard Subaru Outback. The only (very slight) modification was a set of mild AT tyres. Photos proves they made it. But they were lucky as they went when the track was dry and looked like it was recently grated.

    • @tracknotes6562
      @tracknotes6562 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is believable, I drove my 1989 Subaru DL Wagon up Billy Goat's in the late 1990s. It was dry, but hadn't been graded, I got hung up once on a rock ledge and required a push from some blokes on bikes who were a little inquisitive as to how I had managed to get so far. All I had was low range and some decent snow tyres and youth on my side.

    Another great clip and what a trip mate, I'll get down there one day ! 😉.
    The only thing though, - cutting firewood in a National Park, it's a no go. From what I understand, and I happily stand corrected, you cannot collect firewood within all National Parks in Victoria, the same rule as here in NSW. I checked a while back with Nationa Parks here and they said it's a definite no, even to collecting small sticks etc to get your fire started - you MUST take all wood in with you if you intend to have a fire. You're not allowed to use chainsaws either in National Parks either so cutting firewood off the end of fallen trees with a chainsaw, mate they'll be onto you. Hefty fines apply. We all need to remember to follow the rules and regulations, no matter how much we may disagree with the logic behind it, otherwise it just adds more nails in to the off roading coffin and we all lose out. Keep up the good work mate and safe travel.

    • @TylerThompson90
      @TylerThompson90  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah as far as I'm aware that isn't correct mate, in Victoria National Parks you allowed to collect firewood for campfires, you just can't remove fire wood from the park. Someone else commented this same thing on this video if you scroll down and multiple people corrected him saying that is not correct

    • @4WheelingInNSW
      @4WheelingInNSW 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TylerThompson90 yeah I appreciate what you're saying, as I said, I'm happy to be corrected if I was wrong.
      I know though they do have certain times when you are and aren't allowed to collect firewood and I think, if you went in December 2020 / January 2021 ( guessing by your usually editing / releasing time frame ), you would be outside of their "allowable window" of seasons of Autumn and Spring so just be careful that's all. Their fine is $660 odd - ouch !!!!
      Either way mate, keep up the good work. Cheers bud

    Hi Tyler, I am planning to do some of the high country in a week or 2, enjoyed you video with your boy.
    Pete from EVC throttle controls with the Patrol, 35 inch bead locks, 3 inch lif in the front & 2 in the rear. I have heard mixed info on bead locks, 35 on patrols & lift kits.
    I am in Victoria & I know the rules differ from state to state. The engineer I am using for my "partly" GU build, has told me no Bead locks, the biggest rim I can legally go is 33inch with a limit on tyre size, I think it was 275, & a max lift of 2 inch lift, that is engineered certified with a GVM upgrade to 3.5 t.
    So once Pete is about to drive off the dirt on to the bitumen, to go home, does he have a support crew waiting with a change of road types in the trailer for him???
    & with a 3 inch lift in the front & @ in the rear, I am thinking he must of done more to it to get it to sit level.
    You did not ask the hard hitting questions Tyler which just invites trouble makers like me her want to know!
    :0) So did you ask him off camera?
