- I did not make this, Workergirls did, but that channel seems to have been closed down (a shame) so I'm re-upping this one.
The song is called the Ballad of Ho Chi Minh written by the late great British protest singer Ewan MacColl in the 1950's hence why the song references the Viet Minh rather then the National Liberation Front (or Vietcong as the Americans popularly called them) and there conflict with the French.

America didn't lose the Vietnam War. Instead, we can say America's involvement in the war was failed but it was failed by American leftist anti-war fanatics, not by the Vietnamese communist army. It was failed politically but not militarily. American soldiers annihilated almost one million Vietnamese communist troops at the cost of about 58,000 sacrifices, this is by no means a lost war for America. During the war, the U.S. Air Force's bombing North Vietnamese military and industrial targets in Hanoi and Haiphong forced the North Vietnamese to attend the Paris Peace Talks and to sign the Paris Peace Accords. But the North Vietnam Communist regime violated the accords and attacked South Vietnam again after the US withdrew all its troops from Vietnam. Even worse, the new Congress controlled by the Democrats used their majority to de-fund the military aid the U.S. had promised to South Vietnam, while the North Vietnam Communist regime had full support from the Soviet Union and China, which led to this whole failure. This is a tragedy for Vietnamese people and all peoples of Indo-China countries, not for Americans.
If we compare the Vietnam War with Korea War, we will get some ideas. There is actually no essential difference between the two. The reasons, the causes, and the purposes are all the same in both wars, the only differences are the results and consequences. In both wars, the Communist North, supported by Russia (then the Soviet Union) and China, attacked the South first, which led to America's involvement in the wars. The purpose of involvement in both wars was not for conquest and occupation, instead, the purpose was to help the South fight against the Communist North, to prevent the South from the occupation by Communists, and to prevent the Communists from spreading all over Southeast Asian region.
American and its allies' involvement in the Korea War was somewhat successful, at least it prevented South Korea from occupation by the Communist North and eventually led South Korea to become a democratic and developed country. But failing to do so in Vietnam led millions of Vietnamese refugees to risk their lives fleeing the country and a much less developed Vietnam we see today. Even worse, almost 2 million Cambodian people were oppressed, tortured, and killed by the vicious Khmer Rouge regime out of its 8 million population. So, the biggest losers are the peoples of those Indo-China countries, not Americans. The peoples of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos suffered the most, they lost everything, even their lives during and after the war. American soldiers' sacrifices are not worthless. At least it significantly weakened and deterred the Communist further expansion into other Southeast Asian countries. If America had not participated in the war in the first place and let the Communists take the South so easily and quickly, there would be no such a place called "Backpackers' Paradise - Southeast Asia", instead, the whole Southeast Asia region would become a hell ruled by Communist dictators, just as if America had not participated in the Korea War, there would be no such a country called South Korea, no Samsung, no LG, no Hyundai, and no Kia.
I'm not saying all things Americans did in the war are righteous, and I'm not saying Vietnam is exactly the same as North Korea and Kamer Rouge, the main point here is to point out that America's purpose is not for conquest and occupation of Vietnam just as America had no purpose to conquer and occupy Korea, Iraq, Afganistan, Japan, Germany, and other countries in all those wars we know. America wanted to help Vietnam during the war just as it is doing now to help Vietnam develop its economy, to help Vietnam heal the wounds of the war, and to help Vietnam to face the threats from China in the South China Sea.
Many people from the West, especially those younger generations with the leftist mindset, only know there are Communists in Indo -China countries, they don't know there were Communists in almost every Southeast country during the Cold War. Actually, there were Communist insurgents in Thailand, in Malaysia, in the Philippines, in Burma, even in India and Nepal. In 1965, the Communists in the Indonesian Army almost took power in a coup. The leftists are so naive and ignorant that they failed to realize the hash situation that Southeast Asian countries and the whole world faced during the Cold War. They just oppose any war blindly. This cost a lot for America and elsewhere in the world. I suggest people go to Cambodia to see S21 and Killing Fields, not those propaganda sites such as the Cu Chi Tunnel and the Independence Palace if they really want to understand the Vietnam War, Indo-China War, and whole Cold War.
America returned to Vietnam for many years. Vietnamese people are now embracing America. America and American people are the most respected and admired by Vietnamese people now. The first country in the world that Vietnamese want to go is America. Vietnamese people are now embracing capitalism and the free-market economy. They pursue richness, prosperity, and happiness. All these good things are the exact things that America wanted to protect during the Vietnam War. Vietnam's success in achieving richness, prosperity is largely dependent on the aid and support from America and its allies. Ameican Navy warships visited Vietnam. Vietnam's capability in facing the threat from China in the South China Sea is largely dependent on America's help and cooperation. All these mean that America eventually wins the war peacefully. That's a good thing too. And communist Rusia and its allies collapsed a long time ago, they achieved nothing. America and the whole free world finally win the Cold War, which means freedom triumphs over totalitarianism eventually.
Big liar. Vietnam never asked for America's help. We were preparing for general election and America came and make Ngo Dinh Diem the President of South Vietnam. Vietnameses were robbed freedom and chance to elect their leaders from you. Who want a divided country? Ask that yourself.

Bài viết trước - “Cuộc chiến biệt vô tăm tích” - đã đề cập đến một nét đặc thù của cuộc chiến tranh ở Việt Nam. Bài này lại nói đến một nét đặc thù nữa, chỉ người trong cuộc mới có thể nhận rõ, Đây là một nét không thể bỏ qua khi nghiên cứu, tổng kết về cuộc chiến tranh này.
Trước hết là những màn kịch của đảng. Rất điêu luyện, cao tay, tinh vi. Xin kể vài thí dụ.
Năm 1940, phát xít Nhật bắt đầu tiến công xuống phía Nam Châu Á, đe dọa Việt Nam. Đảng CS Đông Dương liền tổ chức ra Mặt trận Việt Nam Độc lập Đồng minh là tổ chức quần chúng của đảng CS, bao gồm các tổ chức Hội Thanh niên Cứu quốc, Hội Phụ nữ Cứu quốc, Hội Công nhân Cứu quốc…để che dấu kỹ bản chất CS của mình, thực hiện sứ mạng của Đệ Tam Quốc tế CS là nhuốm đỏ ba nước Đông dương thuộc Pháp.
Đây là màn kịch đầu tiên dấu kỹ tung tích CS, đề cao lòng yêu nước dành Độc lập để mở rộng thanh thế của đảng CS dưới chiêu bài chống Pháp đuổi Nhật. Lãnh đạo CS hiểu rất rõ là nếu trưng ra chiêu bài CS thì sẽ thất bại to vì nhân dân VN vẫn còn dị ứng với phong trào Xô Viết Nghệ Tĩnh 1930-1931, một phong trào tả khuynh nguy hiểm đề cao khẩu hiệu «chống trí-phụ-địa-hào, đào tận gốc, trốc tận rễ». Chính do màn kịch này mà phong trào Việt Minh lên cao, lên nhanh để Đảng CS cướp được chính quyền tháng 8/1945, lợi dụng lòng yêu nước của toàn dân.
Khi thảo ra bản Tuyên ngôn Độc lập 2/9/1945, Hồ Chí Minh đã hoàn toàn có ý thức dấu kỹ tung tích CS và lập trường CS của mình, chỉ trưng ra tinh thần của cuộc cách mạng dân chủ tư sản, chỉ dẫn ra các tuyên ngôn cách mạng tư sản của Hoa Kỳ và Pháp, dấu kỹ Tuyên ngôn CS mà ông ta luôn coi là kim chỉ Nam cho mọi hành động của mình.
Đây là màn kịch cao thủ thứ 2, khi ông ta đóng kịch với nhà báo Pháp: «Tôi không phải CS, đảng tôi là Việt Nam». Trong 3 bức thư gửi Tổng thống Hoa Kỳ Truman để mong tranh thủ sự ủng hộ của nước Mỹ trong cuộc kháng chiến chống thực dân Pháp, ông đóng kịch như không dính dáng gì đến cộng sản. Thế nhưng phía Mỹ đã hiểu rõ Hồ Chí Minh là nhân viên kỳ cựu và trung thành của CS Quốc tế, không thể tin là người quốc gia, đó là nhân vật nguy hiểm cho cộng đồng quốc tế, cần xếp ở bên kia của trận tuyến «chiến lược be bờ chặn đứng chủ nghĩa CS» (Containment- of-Communist Strategy).
Ngày 11/11/1945 khi bị lộ tẩy đich danh là CS rồi , ông Hồ và lãnh đạo đảng CS lại dựng lên màn kịch «tự giải thể đảng CS Đông Dương», sự thật là chỉ rút vào bí mật và còn phát triển đảng CS mạnh hơn trước.
Mặt trận Liên Việt, Mặt trận Tổ quốc, Đảng Lao động VN cũng là các màn kịch làm bình phong che dấu bản chất CS. Học thuyết Mác - Lê đề cao Đảng CS, giai cấp vô sản thế giới, tinh thần quốc tế vô sản, trong khi hạ thấp, coi nhẹ và phủ định các khái niệm quốc gia, đồng bào, tổ quốc, xã hội, gia đình, tôn giáo. Cho đến khi toàn thắng rồi họ mới hạ màn kịch, lại công khai tự nhận là Đảng Cộng sản. Mặt trận Tổ quốc bị phơi bày cái mặt nạ bằng mo không còn chút giá trị trước nhân dân, do một ủy viên Bộ Chính trị Đảng CSVN chăn dắt một cách thô thiển vụng về sau khi kịch đã hạ màn.
Cho đến nay, vào ngày 30/4 lãnh đạo Dảng CS vẫn còn đóng kịch. Họ vẫn viết trên báo chí đây là «Ngày toàn thắng chống đế quốc Mỹ xâm lược», «Ngày kết thúc vẻ vang sự nghiệp chống Mỹ cứu nước», «Ngày đánh bại ngụy quân ngụy quyền tay sai Mỹ». Họ không nhầm lẫn đâu. Họ biết rõ Hoa Kỳ không xâm lược. Chính họ là kẻ rắp tâm thôn tính, xâm lược bằng vũ lực, chà đạp «quyền tự quyết của nhân dân miền Nam» do các Hiệp định Geneve và Paris đều long trọng khẳng định, mà chính họ đã ký tên cam kết. Họ phải bịa ra kẻ xâm lược để tự nhận là người chống xâm lược, phủi trách nhiệm, tự nhận là chính nghĩa, trong khi quân đội Mỹ chỉ hành động để bảo vệ thế giới dân chủ, trong đó có VNCH, theo chiến lược «be bờ chặn đứng thảm họa quốc tế cộng sản». Chính CS Việt Nam mới là một kiểu ngụy quân ngụy quyền do CS Moscow và CS Bắc Kinh nuôi dưỡng thành một tiền đồn của Quốc tế CS, một quân tốt thí. Lẽ ra lúc này họ phải bỏ đi cái trò đóng kịch nhầm vai, lộn vai như thế, nói lên đúng sự thật, khi chính họ đã bình thường hóa quan hệ ngoại giao với Hoa Kỳ 20 năm chẵn và đang cần sự đầu tư và hỗ trợ của Hoa Kỳ và phương Tây.
Do CS chuyên nghề lừa dối và bịp bợm như thế nên cả xã hội VN một thời gian dài cũng nhiễm phải thói đóng kịch một cách trầm trọng và rộng khắp. Đây là một hiện tượng chưa được phát hiện, nêu lên thành hệ thống để nhận rõ thêm bộ mặt xấu xa của chủ nghĩa CS hiện thực. Nhà thơ Chế Lan Viên, người được coi là nhà thơ xuất sắc bậc nhất ở miền Bắc, khi chết đã để lại Di cảo nói rõ rằng ông ta đã lừa dối, đóng kịch ra sao. Trong bài «Trừ Đi» Chế Lan Viên viết: «Sau này anh đọc thơ tôi nên nhớ, Có phải tôi viết đâu, Một nửa cái cần viết vào thơ, Tôi đã giết đi rồi!». Trong bài «Ai? Tôi!» Chế Lan Viên viết: «Mậu Thân, 2000 xuống đồng bằng, Chỉ một đêm còn sống sót có 30, Ai chịu trách nhiệm về cái chết 2000 người đó? - Tôi !- người viết những câu thơ cổ võ Ca tụng người không tiếc mạng mình trong mọi lúc xung phong… ». Đó là sự kiện ở Bình Định, Tết Mậu Thân đảng tung 2000 quân lính và cán bộ từ căn cứ xuống đồng bằng kêu gọi dân tổng khởi nghĩa và tổng nổi dậy, nhưng thất bại thê thảm, chết gần hết.
Chế Lan Viên viết Di cảo để lại, khi sống ông không dám nói ra. Ông có dũng khí nhận tội ác về mình, thật ra tội ác thuộc về lãnh đạo đảng CS đã coi sinh mạng thanh niên quân lính cán bộ như cỏ rác, ném vào cuộc chiến một cách mù quáng. Cả một lớp văn nghệ sỹ cũng như nhà báo của đảng đều đóng kịch như thế để có kế sinh nhai, về hùa với tội ác mà cứ ngỡ mình là chính nghĩa. Chính tôi cũng đã phải đóng kịch trơ trẽn như thế.
Người dân thường hồi ấy cũng đóng kịch. Tôi xin dẫn chứng sống về 2 bà chị tôi. Bà chị ruột tôi ở Hải Phòng có con trai cả là Hưng, sau khi học xong trung học, cháu 17 tuổi được gọi đi nghĩa vụ quân sự. Ở lớp cháu trước khi hết học kỳ cuối cả lớp hơn 30 nam sinh là đoàn viên Thanh niên CS Hồ Chí Minh đều làm đơn tình nguyện 100% đi nghĩa vụ quân sự. Trong đơn gọi là «tình nguyện» còn nêu rõ sẵn sàng đi đâu khi Tổ quốc cần, ngụ ý là sẵn sàng vào Nam chiến đấu. Thư tình nguyện còn được ghi thêm ý kiến cùng chữ ký của bố hoặc mẹ rất đồng tình với ý tự nguyện của con mình. Bà chị con ông bác ruột tôi cũng có con trai là Hiệp học rất giỏi, chuyên là lớp trưởng. Cháu cũng đến tuổi làm nghĩa vụ quân sự. Cháu cũng được quận đội Hoàn Kiếm tuyển mộ, lớp cháu hầu hết đều tình nguyện nhập ngũ, chỉ trừ các bạn quá nhẹ cân, có cố tật. Hai bà chị tôi đều lo âu, buồn khổ, nhưng tuyệt nhiên không dám lộ ra ngoài. Với láng giềng, với chính quyền khu phố cứ phải tươi cười đóng kịch trong khi nước mắt tràn ra khi đêm xuống. Các chị dò hỏi tôi có cách nào xin cho các cháu được miễn đi quân dịch để vào học tiếp Đại học, và nhất là làm sao nếu vẫn phải đi lính thì không phải đi Nam, vì câu chuyện «sinh Bắc tử Nam» là một cơn ác mộng khủng khiếp dai dẳng cho các bà mẹ đó. Có thể nói các bạn trẻ 10 đi chỉ chừng 2, 3 phần trở về lành lặn. Vậy mà các bà chị tôi vẫn thản nhiên đóng kịch dự lễ tuyển quân, rồi sau vài tháng lại dự lễ tiễn đưa đoàn quân có con mình lên đường vào Nam, với những vòng hoa vàng đỏ choàng quanh cổ. Đó là thời kỳ chiến sự miền Nam sôi động 1965-1970. Các bà chị tôi đau khổ biệt tin con mình hằng 3,4 năm trời, có khi được tin láng máng là cháu Hưng vào khu 5, Quảng Nam hay Quảng Ngãi, cháu Hiệp vào Tây Nguyên, Kontum hay Pleiku, để rồi cuối cùng 2 bà đều thót tim nhận giấy báo tử, chậm đến hơn một năm. Cháu Hưng hy sinh ở huyện Đức Phổ còn cháu Hiệp hy sinh ở chiến trường Tây Nguyên, cả hai đều mất xác, không biết chôn ở đâu. Sau này các bà đều đi vào Nam, lặn lội nhiều nơi, dùng cả những người có ngoại cảm đi tìm mộ, nhưng đành chịu. Các tấm bảng tuyên dương Liệt sỹ, tuyên dương Mẹ Liệt sỹ, Gia đình vẻ vang, được vỗ tay chào đón trong các cuộc họp khu phố không hề an ủi được các bà chị tôi. Nỗi xót xa đau buồn khôn nguôi kéo dài hàng chục năm, vẫn không thể biết 2 cháu hy sinh như thế nào, ở đâu, lúc nào, cũng không có một di vật dù nhỏ làm kỹ niệm. Hàng triệu gia đình, hàng triệu bà mẹ đau khổ dằn vặt khôn nguôi.
Có thể nói hàng triệu gia đình có con vào Nam chiến đấu đều bị cưỡng bách một cách tinh vi như thế, đều buộc phải cùng đảng và theo đảng đóng kịch như thế. Các thanh niên đều 100% bị «cưỡng bách tự nguyện» như thế để bị cho vào lò sát sinh, vào bộ máy nghiến thịt khổng lồ mang tên «cuộc kháng chiến thần thánh chống ngoại xâm» phục vụ cho tham vọng quyền lực vô biên của Đảng CS tuân theo lệnh của Quốc tế CS do ông Hồ Chí Minh dắt dẫn suốt 85 năm từ khi thành lập Đảng CS năm 1930.
Cuộc đóng kịch dai dẳng về mọi mặt, cuộc lừa bịp chết người, hủy diệt oan uổng vô vàn sinh mạng trai tráng của dân tộc giữa tuổi thanh xuân cần kết thúc lúc này đã là quá muộn. Tất cả các «từ ngữ» liên quan đến màn kịch hủy diệt con người này cần xem xét và vĩnh viễn từ bỏ để thay vào những «từ ngữ» chính xác. Ai xâm lược, ai là ngụy quân ngụy quyền? Ai cứu nước hay gây tai họa cho nước? Ai chính nghĩa ai phi nghĩa? Toàn thắng cái gì? Giải phóng cái gì? Công lao nỗi gì? Vẻ vang, vĩ đại gì?
Sao tiếng nói riêng của Đảng CS lại vẫn cứ mang cái lốt giả là báo «Nhân Dân», sao Tòa án Nhân dân lại kết tội những người dân yêu nước chống bành trướng, sao Ủy ban Nhân dân quận Hoàn Kiếm lại có quyền cấm nhân dân thủ đô biểu tình bảo vệ cây xanh, sao Công an nhân dân lại ngang nhiên buôn sinh mạng người dân để kiếm cơ man nào là vàng khi bán bãi, bán tàu, thuyền, bán chỗ trên các tàu thuyền ọp ẹp trong thảm kịch «thuyền nhân» 40 năm về trước. Tất cả đã đến lúc phải sáng tỏ rõ ràng, minh bạch.
Cái tội cực lớn của Đảng CS là đã lấy dối trá làm lẽ sống của mình, rồi làm gương dối trá cho toàn xã hội - nhà nhà dối trá, người người dối trá, nhà trường dạy đối trá, học trò học dối trá - phá hoại nếp lương thiện, cương trực, chất phác của xã hội, phá hoại nền đạo đức và văn hóa thuần khiết của dân tộc, đến bao giờ mới hồi phục được.
Đảng CS phải hạ ngay các màn kịch đã kéo dài và nhân dân cũng không còn ai muốn cùng đảng đóng kịch trơ trẽn hay bi thảm ở mọi nơi mọi lúc như xưa nữa.
