Thanks for this. My keys got wet for my S2 and my car didn't want to start. Think this will be my job today.

you're welcome. if you still can't start the car let me know on my other channel th-cam.com/video/IwJHK6Cp-kE/w-d-xo.html and I'll take you through the troubleshooting sequence to find the fault. I don't monitor this channel much now.

Please help, I’ve been working on a 1990 Porsche 944s2 for the last few weeks, bodywork and repaint. The battery was disconnected for maybe a week or so while the work was being done. Now after all repairs the car cranks but won’t start, everything to me points to the original factory immobiliser not reading the little fob next to the ignition barrel. Can you lend any advice if possible as I’ve no idea where to begin to fix this issue? Thanks

I'm trying to put a new after market alarm in to replace the old Clifford alarm
I can't get my car to turn over anymore but it cranks.
So I'm guessing the factory alarm and an immobilizer is not the problem since my S2 is cranking.

      not necessarily.
Do you have a spark at the spark plugs ? do you have any fuel at the fuel rail ?
Remove the DME relay and check that you have 12v+ at terminal 30 of the DME relay socket with the ignition switched off. If you do... fit a 3x wire bypass in place of your DME relay. (see Clarks-Garage.com shop manual).
This bypass can be made with 3x short lengths of wire joined together and will supply 12v+ to your fuel pump, ECU, Injectors and Ignition system with your ignition switch off.
Try starting the car. Watch the tacho for a very slight bounce when you crank the car to show your crank sensor is working.
if you still can't start the car contact me and we'll do a full troubleshoot..

Edit: I just got it to start, it was just loose wire pack connections in my fuse box. Thanks for replying.

blimeyolriley yup, recently I went to a mechanic for an oil change and a squeaky belt, ended up quoting me $5500 for an engine rebuild because of leaky oil . He wanted to do the motor mounts, water pump and timing belt as it would save money. I would rather leak oil and just put a little in every now and then for now. Lol
I ended up tightening the auxiliary belts, crossing my fingers that the squeaky belt goes away as the belts don't look cracked or worn. Jerk mechanic didn't even do that for me. He even did me a 'favor' by showing me the leaks with the bumper cover off, but couldn't tighten some bolts?
I think this jerk screwed up the timing cause I can hear this soft clicking sound in the engine when it is running that I did not hear before.

if the ticking is from the cylinder head area then its probably one of the fuel injectors they frequently make a ticking sound especially when the engine is still cold. it usually dissappears when the engine warms up.
The squeak or belt squeal will probably be the Alternator bearing . Again this will come and go according to the air temperature humidity and how often the car is run.Mine has been squealing on cold start up for about 20 seconds or so over 2 years now but I don't do much mileage. I just leave the engine on idle until the squealing goes away.
You can remove your alternator and replace the bearing yourself . You don't need a Porsche bearing its just a standard generic bearing. Measure the width the external and internal diameters and buy a bearing online . You'll need to replace the alternator belt too whilst you have the alternator off.
There are plenty of companies that will sell you a reconditioned alternator if you'd rather not do the work yourself.
