  • We'll learn how to write formulas for ionic compounds that contain transition metals. The transition metals are unique because they are elements are able to make multiple ions with different charges. We use roman numerals to indicate the charge of a transition metal ion. To write a formula for an ionic compound with transition metals, we make sure that the positive charge of the cation and the negative charge of the anion balance out.

just wanted to leave you a note saying thank you for clarifying this out! My INTRO to chem college prof likes to think that his common sense is the same as ours, so he doesn't clarify anything to us & expects us to just know even when we ask for help. He tells us to "refer back to his notes" but the notes are just based on the history of chemistry & not on the actual work/calculations. I will definitely be thumbs upping this video. Better yet, I'll even subscribe to your channel!
