- A very short video featuring the sound of all the bells ringing at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France.
The visuals and the audio were recorded separately. The bells were recorded on the evening of Christmas Day as they rang to mark the start of evening Mass at 6:15 PM. The images were recorded on the afternoon of December 28, mainly just to accompany the bell recording.
The bell with the lowest tone is Emmanuel, the 13-ton bourdon bell in the south tower of the cathedral. The other bells are in the north tower (on the left in images seen here). The bell audio is part of a complete 9-minute recording, but I haven't uploaded the whole thing because the upload takes forever and I doubt that anyone would be interested in the whole thing.
I recorded the bells with relatively fancy audio equipment, which is why they sound a bit fuller than most recordings you hear on TH-cam (more low tones, for example). This is how they actually sound, insofar as TH-cam is able to reproduce. The audio recording was made about 100 feet southwest of the south tower, where the large bell is (the other bells are in the north tower, which is on the left in these images).
When I lived in Paris,1968, we had a friend that worked at Notre Dame.One fullmoon night he snuck us up the South Tower. Emmanuell ringing and a moonlit Paris is something i will never forget.

I had to come here after the recent news. It’s such a devastating loss of history, art, architecture, hopes and dreams... 800 years gone up in flames... Sleep well for now, Notre Dame. Hopefully one day you can be restored to your former glory. My prayers go out to Paris. 04/15/2019

Notre Dame is one of the most amazing things humans could have done. It has stood there since 1345 and, up to this day, the cathedral rings its bells to awake Paris. It is more unbelievable when back then humans did not have the things we use to build today. That is why you cannot say anything when you hear the bells ringing. It is truly incredible.

for those of you who are unsure, the bells did used to ring by manual labor but thanks to modern technology, electric motors ring the bells, just like the bell in Big Ben
Big Ben is the name of the bell itself. The bells in what is known as 'The Queen Elizabeth tower' are hung dead and are struck by hammers run by a clock mechanism while Notre Dame bells are swung by motors and chains

Templars were Christians. A monastic order of knights to defend the pilgrims heading to the Holy Land. The greed of the French King and his power over the Pope caused the Templars to be slandered and executed and decommisioned after they confessed to ridiculous allegations under the merciless tortures of an inquisition in their elderly years because the King wanted their wealth which was bequeathed to them in reparation for sins and funded their crusades in the Holy Land. After all that the Pope granted their wealth to a similar order, the Hospitallers, so they were martyred for nothing. Those who confessed to the allegations later recanted, then recanted their recant to live in shame rather than be burned at the pyre. Those who recanted without shame died with honour in tact in the flames. Those that lived in shame are perhaps the originators of the false remnants spreading heresies today - helped along by those who are either ignorant or malicious.

Thanks everyone. When I posted this, they were saying the towers might not make it. I'm so thankful they did. But I thought I read that all 10 bells were in the South Tower.

I can't wait to hear the new bells, but this is sweet! I used to live in Ville D'avret just north of Paris, so church bells were a regular sound in my life. It's a shame that we don't hear them here in Atlanta, because there's a noise ordinance! So, how is it people can complain about church bells, and yet they allow loud vehicles, horns, and that God forsaken hidious loud bass & rap noise?

Except for the biggest bell, the others are being replaced, designed by computer to be melodic, they say. They are supposed to be in place by March 24, 2013 for the Palm Sunday services. Although a TH-cam video shows the new bells downstairs in the church with a mass being said. And a couple of exploratory clangs. The new ones may turn out to be melodic, generally the ones on TH-cam just have the giant church bell clang.
