Me and my colleague both bought 2 dt 990 250 ohm Beyerdynamic.
Each of those brand new 990’s sounded quite brighter than a the extensively used old 990 (250 ohm), tested independently by both of us.
    And:
Exchanging old pads with the new ones did NOT produce any discernable change at least not to the ears of my colleague who also heard the new 990 as brighter…
Now I’m trying to burn them in with a various music playing 7/24🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️👋

Just received a few different IEMs Out of the box, one brand sounded poor and not anything like the quality that reviewers had given it high praise on. Burned in with 6+ hours of playing at medium loudness and then checked them - sounded far far better. I'm ok with the "rumor" that burn in is needed on some speaker drivers as I'm finding that it helped at least in some IEM cases.

My personal anecdote is that I have had Audio Engineers with gold records informing me that diaphragm elasticity is a factor to consider. Sometimes the diaphragm can stiffen over time when not in use.
If you take a speaker/monitor out of storage after not being in use for a few months or years, Its important to warm it up at lower SPLs as to not damage the diaphragm.
In my personal opinion, warming up a diaphragm is a short process. 10-30 minutes.
Its important to note that audio is very subjective and if you find that burning in your drivers helps, then that is all that matters. Everyone hears differently.
I think its awesome that you found a solution that works for you.

I bought my 1st pair of headphones recently and saw this Smart Burn-in function when I started to play around with the App, but then forgot about it. Now, a month later, I decided to do it: I started the Smart Burn-in but it says that it will take 12hrs to complete phase 1! So it seems I'll have to do several sessions of 12hrs each! That's just crazy!!!

Hi, I bought today an Audio Technica M50x headphone and right after opening it from the package, I played some songs for like 5/10 minutes from Spotify at Max full volume using it through a Focuriste sound card which was also at Max volume. Later I found out on the internet that playing music at Max volume can damage the headphone speakers. Is my headphone damaged? I am really worried.

If it sounds bad, then it’s broken.

Never burn-in using harsh /high sounds, you should burn-in using sounds like white noise & other related sounds.

Burn-in isn't max volume. It is massaging the diaphragm into being more flexible. Just playing any program(Music or white noise) at a medium volume is good enough to be considered "Burn in".
It is unlikely you damaged your headphones unless you hear distortion at lower volumes. It should be fine.

So it exists but doesn't. Got it.

No no no, you are totally wrong. The actual truth is that it doesn't exist but it exists, not that it exists but does not exist, get it? basically, its existence exists within the non existence of such an existential facsimile identical to the reproductive subsonic inter-circumference of the focused elaboration of theoretical burin-in effect.
I hope my explanation cleared things up for you and made it easier to understand.
