I don't think it included food since very commonly in medias do pokemon show getting hungry and needing to be taken out to be fed. I think the pokeballs just provide an ideal housing environment for the pokemon to feel happy
Also theres special balls like water balls or whatever if i recall correctly, which work better with certain types. This could be because the interior is nicer for those types and they dont want to escape. Meaning the decreasing escape chance is likely corrolated to a higher comfort level

I definitely think the Pokeballs have different styles to them, kind of like a house. The Pokeball is the most basic, but liveable while the Ultra Ball is more comfortable and extravagant. The Dusk Ball is dark and cave-like to fit in with the theme. Dive Balls being more aquatic and aquarium-like for the fish and sea life. Etc. The Master Ball is hard to describe, but it could be like living in absolute bliss that the Pokemon never wants to escape.

Ash's always went to Proff Oak, so it's likely other trainers went to whichever proff whose region they started in. I assumed all trainers are given a pocket dimension or piece of land (depending on region, since you can visit pelago in S/M/US/UM and legends but can't visit boxed pokemon in other games) with a maximum comfortable amount, and pokemon are allowed to roam freely and interact with each other. I never expected the insides of pokeballs to be bare, at minimum I expected them to be like large island terrariums, but with the ability to have other pokemon "visit" so they don't get lonely, hence the pocket dimension thing

It's been commonly accepted for an entire generation or two of fans so the new anime basically only showed the size of the room rather than reveal something new.

You can even turn into a pretty deep and interesting arc about this and have a story about if it is humane to catch pokemon
I always imagined it more as a data thing. The Pokemon are converted into digital code and the ball acts as a memory bank for that. Thats also why Boxes, Trades and Transfers work since its just transfering data and, in the case of a trade, re-writing the ownership information housed in the ball.
Actually there was an episode of sun and moon where Pikachu captured Meowth in a luxury ball and Meowth was almost successfully caught until the capture failed last second and when he came out he was actually extremely relaxed and happy. Well, at least until he realized what had happened lol.
Actually, that was explained way earlier in the anime (Season 4 I believe) by Lucian. All pokeballs simulate an attractive environment for the pokémon to feel comfortable and discourage them from jumping out of them. The Luxury Ball simply provides the best comfort of all of them.
The Luxury Ball and Friend Ball are the best poke balls for friendship, but the mechanics imply a notable difference in living conditions inside them. Friend Ball is a 1 time Friendship increase that doesn't carry over to children or through trading. Luxury Ball doubles Friendship gains. (I don't remember if it applies to children or traded pokemon.)
Given that the Luxury Ball makes Pokémon caught with it gain more friendship, it actually makes sense for that to be the interior of it. As for the other Poké Balls, maybe they all have different environments inside each of them

I feel like it makes the most sense that all of the pokeballs offer the same amenities. But the theme of the decor inside the pokeball is determined by which type of pokeball, hence why water pokemon would like the dive ball. Luxury ball would be a luxury themed pokeball, and the masterball i imagine would be so perfect and tailored to the pokemons liking that they would never want to leave it.
The poke balls getting better and better explains why it would be easier to catch a Pokémon with an advanced pokeball, because the Pokémon would want to stay

It would make sense that a Pokéball could have a procedurally generated environment to customize itself to the Pokémon contained within, with each special Pokéball having a custom set of environmental assets that may be more appealing to the Pokémon it was made for.

Well actually, we already got an idea that Pokeballs are properly inhabitable because Meowth also almost got caught by Pikachu in a luxury ball and he came out really happy and relaxed since apparently the inside on the ball was really nice. So yeah, question still stands on whether it is just a luxury ball that is nice, but we did get that dialogue from Meowth to confirm that the pokeballs have unique interiors suitable to Pokemon.

the luxury ball is meant to be, well, especially luxurious, and thats why in game they help with the friendship of caught pokemon (though its a mystery why it isnt any better than a regular ball at actually catching if it's inside is so attractive). Each ball has a different setting. A normal ball has the basic comforts. The luxury bally has higher quality or luxury comforts. The Master ball is literally so good that even God will happily be caught.

My theory is that the difference between each Pokeball changes depending on what type of ball it is. For example the heal ball is a standard Pokeball that has a one time use of a max potion and ether for the pokemons health.
Something not many people noticed is that Starter Squad was the first to predict this in the episode where bulbasaur says “this pokeball is so comfortable” when charmander begs him to get out of it.

When I was younger I remember seeing something about them living in a type of wilderness, or had enough free space to roam inside the ball.
That is sort of what is implied in the manga, the pokeball appears clear and the pokemon seems to be able to look around when inside of it.

I definitely think the Pokeballs have different styles to them, kind of like a house. The Pokeball is the most basic, but liveable while the Ultra Ball is more comfortable and extravagant. The Dusk Ball is dark and cave-like to fit in with the theme. Dive Balls being more aquatic and aquarium-like for the fish and sea life. Etc. The Master Ball is hard to describe, but it could be like living in absolute bliss that the Pokemon never wants to escape.

Yea. Technically what happens in anime canon, anything after your team of 6 gets transferred to a professors lab. Ash's always went to Proff Oak, so it's likely other trainers went to whichever proff whose region they started in. Can't speak for all of them, but Oak had an awesome ranch where everything was free to roam as it wished until the trainer needed them 😸

I assumed all trainers are given a pocket dimension or piece of land (depending on region, since you can visit pelago in S/M/US/UM and legends but can't visit boxed pokemon in other games) with a maximum comfortable amount, and pokemon are allowed to roam freely and interact with each other. I never expected the insides of pokeballs to be bare, at minimum I expected them to be like large island terrariums, but with the ability to have other pokemon "visit" so they don't get lonely, hence the pocket dimension thing

I always imagined it more as a data thing. The Pokemon are converted into digital code and the ball acts as a memory bank for that. Thats also why Boxes, Trades and Transfers work since its just transfering data and, in the case of a trade, re-writing the ownership information housed in the ball.
Actually there was an episode of sun and moon where Pikachu captured Meowth in a luxury ball and Meowth was almost successfully caught until the capture failed last second and when he came out he was actually extremely relaxed and happy. Well, at least until he realized what had happened lol.
Actually, that was explained way earlier in the anime (Season 4 I believe) by Lucian. All pokeballs simulate an attractive environment for the pokémon to feel comfortable and discourage them from jumping out of them. The Luxury Ball simply provides the best comfort of all of them.

I feel like it makes the most sense that all of the pokeballs offer the same amenities. But the theme of the decor inside the pokeball is determined by which type of pokeball, hence why water pokemon would like the dive ball. Luxury ball would be a luxury themed pokeball, and the masterball i imagine would be so perfect and tailored to the pokemons liking that they would never want to leave it.

Master ball must be every Pokémons dream place since they immediately want to be captured after only a few seconds being in there.
The standard pokeball is probably like an economy seat. Sure you have some room, but you wouldn't want to be there for more than an hour.
It would make sense that a Pokéball could have a procedurally generated environment to customize itself to the Pokémon contained within, with each special Pokéball having a custom set of environmental assets that may be more appealing to the Pokémon it was made for.
In middle school I used to draw what I thought pokeball looked like using my favorite Pokémon. I designed it like a little doll house with multiple rooms

Well actually, we already got an idea that Pokeballs are properly inhabitable because Meowth also almost got caught by Pikachu in a luxury ball and he came out really happy and relaxed since apparently the inside on the ball was really nice.
So yeah, question still stands on whether it is just a luxury ball that is nice, but we did get that dialogue from Meowth to confirm that the pokeballs have unique interiors suitable to Pokemon.

My theory is that the difference between each Pokeball changes depending on what type of ball it is. For example the heal ball is a standard Pokeball that has a one time use of a max potion and ether for the pokemons health.
