Okay, so, this might be a bad take, Idk it’s my opinion so..
I’m EXTREMELY excited for this game.
The idea of Wii Sports on Switch is a dream for me, so since it exists I’m very, very, excited.
That said, I can definitely see why you would be upset. Releasing an unfinished game just to finish it later with updates is pretty lame.
And miis being shoved to the side for some generic avatars that nobody cares about is stupid.
And the leg strap being unusable at launch is ridiculous! Like, how did they let that slide? The amount of families that will be confused as to why they can’t use their leg strap because they don’t entirely understand software updates is absurd.
But, other than that, I’m still excited for this game.
I think the online demo releases tomorrow (as of writing) so I’ll be sure to check it out.

While I've not played any of the Wii Sports games in a long while, it seems a little annoying to limit sports to DLC/later updates- What helped Wii Sports is accessability, and with a shutdown of Switch service [theoretically], the game, like BDSP's own limit by Day One Patches, would be rendered unfinished.

(not saying that's the only complaint) I also like how you can still use miis, but this time they actually have arms and legs. I personally found it weird that they didn't have arms and legs before. I also think that it's good they at least wanted to put out a demo to try out online, for most games they throw it out and only wait till after to fix it. I feel like a lot of gaming fans do this, they just assume the absolute worst before even trying or they overhype it and are sad it doesn't meet their crazy expectations, like overusing the phrase "cashgrab". Imo I wouldn't really say nostalgia especially after stuff like Miitopia and Tomodachi Life, which aren't terribly old (Miis really did improve past the wii as customization options improved)
Their main shtick was that There was so much more customization compared to other avatar types, just look at online qr codes. Miis competitors can't make Donkey Kong, a Hamburger, the licing desire for death. To me that's why Miis became so beloved, they added alot of creative potential and just sheer silliness, something Miitopia's version I think demonstrates perfectly. It probably wasn't intended at their conception, but Miis being able to do more than be a vaguely realistic human was what made people eventually come to love them.

I’d rather get the 6 games early and then more in updates rather than wait a year and a half to get the game. As long as the gameplay is fun enough and well enough it should be good.
Also, the game is $40 which is $20 cheaper than nintendo average and games like Mario Golf, Aces, and Star Allies. Not much cheaper but props to Nintendo for FINALLY not pricing a major game at $60…
Finally, while I’d obviously prefer a sequel to Resort with that many games and that setting, there’s not much we can do. So as long as the gameplay is fun enough, and the games after launch don’t feel like they were essential (and if the games weren’t already finished at launch, content that wasn’t held back for updates) I don’t have a major problem with it. bruh just because the game hasn’t come out doesn’t mean you can’t form an opinion based on a trailer. criticizing nintendo is OKAY. the games unfinished. plain and simple. they are relying on updates later in the year to finish the game. they are shipping an unfinished product at launch.

@@hanabi64 firstly, I’m okay with criticizing Nintendo, they do dumb shit a lot of the time. But look at the title, he’s treating the game like it’s already came out. I’m not happy with the fact they’re practically releasing the game unfinished, but I fell there’s enough content to warrant a release already. Also, there’s a healthy and unhealthy way to spread criticism. You can respectfully acknowledge others’ opinions and rebuttal them, or you can do what Deemech does and dismiss other opinions and come to a “definitive” conclusion on a game

I'm overall excited for the game. I personally don't hate the new designs, but I don't think their great either. However, one of my favorite aspects from wii sports and wii sports resort is the miis. I'm not talking about the miis themselves, but the characters. Like how Tommy was the final boss for basketball, or Matt was the final boss for boxing. Each character had their own sports they'd be in, giving each and every one of them a character, and you could even use that to give them a personality. I thought this was a very cool thing for both games, but Idk if the new game is going to have that. I have a feeling it'll just pick between the random defaults for every sport, however I will keep my hopes up.

I’m gonna be honest, I kinda like the sports mates. Don’t get me wrong, they defiantly should’ve had the miis front and center in a game that’s a sequel to wii sports, but I kinda like their designs and they fit into the setting well. But the free updates are really upsetting, atleast it might mean more sports later down the line although it’s frustrating to have to wait.
