Mate. I'm so proud of you. The hard work paid off with amazing miles and smiles, right to the finish line. You're keep the flame alive for me, and hopefully, I'll make a return to form. Huge well done, mate. Enjoy the rest, and I look forward to the next adventure.
Thanks, Pickles! I love you, man! Keep that flame alive!
Massive respect for the long journey and dedication to complete this distance. Also the aftermath shows that you were very much prepared and fit to complete it 💪🏼
Thank you, my little Norwegian dove! It was largely with your help, advise and inspiration, so again: muchos gracias, amigo! Let's do this together next year 🥳
@@MaartenOverwegthat’s too much credit. You set the goal and did the work, but you CAN thank your stubbornness 😂
Now we’re waiting for your next public goal to be announced!
@@smrsn I can be super stubborn, I know...one of my super powers 😂 I can feel the outline of a new goal forming in my head.....first focus on FTP and keep a strong base through the winter and then.....
Wow! You made that look easy. Well done, buddy, you should feel be super proud. All your hard work paid off. And your Ultra Endurance Maths is awesome. 🤣
Thanks mate! Of course I suffered, but it wasn't too bad actually. I still want to do some maths on how many hours I trained for this event. Ultra maths for the win! 😅🥳
Chapeau mate - absolutely smashed it. And I love your lesson in Ultra Maths - mate, that's a YT short, in its own right. Top work fella.
I studied ultra maths 😅🧐 thanks, mate! I did think about you during the ride. You are my spirit animal after all 🥳
Wow... Congratulations on going the full distance and finishing. Massive satisfaction I'm sure - well done sir !!!
Thank you very much!!! Yes, super addictive too. Can't wait to do another one 😅😂
I admire your determination and grunt you put into this ride absolute well done so much res0ect matey.
Thank you, sir! I know I did it but at the same time don't, if you know what I mean. In a year of so I will watch this video and be: who is that guy? How are you doing btw, all good I hope?
Fabulous ride Maarten, looks a super route. Chapeau to you!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Yeah, it was a very nice route. Hard nowadays to plan a route in this area that isn't completely flooded 😅
Wat. Een. Prestatie.
Echt top man!
Amazing performance Maarten. Congrats for that. 👍🏻 I don’t know what to say. I think I just can’t ride such a long distance. But maybe I… next year. Looks like a lot of fun. 🎉
Thank you very much, Mario!!! And if I can do it, so can you! It just take months and months of training 😅 I still want to see how many hours I have trained in total, I should look that up. But I'm pretty sure that (almost) everybody can do this, it's not rocket science: train for long hours and be too stupid to quit 😂
Super well done! So looking forward to seeing a video from you in nice weather, so frigging hard to keep spirits up in crappy weather. My longest ride (250km) was last year, but butt and neck were so painful that I still wait to do a 200 miler, so kudos to you💪
Thank you! Me too on the weather 😅 it's even hard to remember when the last time was that I had a full day of riding without rain or anything 😂 I trained for this for 8 months and tried to get everything as dialed in as possible (bikefit, bib shorts, etc etc`), so in the end: it is doable, even for me, but it's definitely hard work. I hope you do it though, it's very fulfilling (afterwards) 😂
@@MaartenOverweg thanks, your adventures can definitely push me into the proper direction. Love them
@@hansthijs Thanks! I really appreciate that. I say this all the time but these videos are just a little extension of the cycling hobby. I'm always amazed people actually watch them 😂
Awesome ride Maarten!
@@dirkgatsby Thanks Dirk!
Klak af man! Dikke kudos!
By the power of the beard! 😅 Ontzettend bedankt! Je berichtje betekent echt heel veel me, dank u, dank u! 🙌
Well done. 👍 😊
Thank you very much 🙏 couple days later and I'm still on a high (and a soft pillow 😅)
Congrats mate super effort much respect from a guy far far away.
From another guy far far away: thank you so much! I'm still buzzing (and sore) 😂
Video was great until 3:46 in , then some bearded guy appeared , that was scary.
Keep your zwift head for zwift , stop chasing fast guys.. amazing ride dude❤❤
Thanks uncle! Zwift head got triggered by the nerves, was very hard to be sensible those first 2 hours or so 😅
Congrats!
Thank you very much! 🙏🥳
Hats off for you buddy 👏👏👏 I had no doubt that you would make it, but great effort nonetheless! Would like to try out this event myself 🙂
Thanks, Snorre! Same here, I was quite confident but still nervous...Next year we could do an ultra together, Hansee is also interested!
@@MaartenOverweg That would be great, if it fits my schedule/holiday plans 😀 I’m doing a 140 kms gravel event/race this Saturday, but since I have been on holiday for two weeks I’m quite nervous. Might have to do it as a social ride!
@@VeloViking You'll do great, mate. We all know how strong you are! Good luck, go out there and enjoy! And for next year: the 2 ultra events I've found so far over here are both in June (because of the long days, I guess). So, keep your calendar free that month 🥳
You are the man!!! So happy for you.
Ah mate, thank you sooo much! Yeah, I'm super happy too! Who would have thought I could do this? I was in such a different place the same time last year....I couldn't even ride my bike to the end of the street without being tired 😅
How are you doing? Got any nice events planned?
@@MaartenOverweg Took me a good 10 days, but I'm back. No big plan for this year, maybe few bikepacking trips and longer rides. And about you, any events coming up?
@@ctouzelet Wow, 10 days! I understand though, you did some tough stuff 💪🙌 You feeling okay now?
I don't have any big events planned for the rest of the year. I will join a team at work for Mystery Mountain in September, but that's it. And I will do some local gravel events. For next year, I might try an ultra bikepacking event. So if you have any good tips, please let me know!
@@MaartenOverweg Yep - feeling good. we'll stay in touch!
Wow… that’s a far ride. Well Done. Glad you prepared yourself, more importantly you had fun out there! So Traka in 2025?
Thank you! Not sure if Traka or something else. I kinda want to do an ultra bikepacking event, maybe like the Taunus one in Hermany or Bright Midnight in Norway. Too many fun things, the bucket list is too long. Got any tips?
Ultra Math: Once you cross the start line, you are on the way back.
Preach, brother Baardy! 😂😅🥳
I had a DNF after 110 km (Leendertbos near Valkenswaard) due to a ruptured read tire. 😢
Oooh noooooo! I was already wondering if I would bump into you. What happened exactly?
@@MaartenOverwegNot sure. I have something that resembles a cut where the tire meets the rim. I was riding in the sand section in Leendertbos and all of a sudden I heart a sound resembling a blown up shopping bag that slowly deflates. And then a kilometer onwards I had a flat. Tried pumping it up, but didn’t work at all. So walked to Valkenswaard where the organizers picked me up to bring me back to feed zone B where they had technical assistance. Only thing they could do was put in an inner tube, which would also have been risky. So I DNF’ed. Which still feels horrible.
next year ur doing the route twice right? 😛
Popper! How did your exams go? Nah mate, I'm getting to old to do the same thing twice. I want to focus on my FTP for the next couple months and then maybe try an ultra endurance bikepacking event like the Taunus bikepacking in Germany or the Bright Midnight in Norway. There are just too many fun events and I want to do as many as possible 🥳
You’re a legend mate! It was great meeting you at smugglers. Gr. Seger
Thanks Seger! Yeah, really great to meet you. I’m sure we’ll see each other at future smugglers events 🥳
