Hi, not being rude or anything, but could you please do a video on this mod when it’s a little more fleshed out? I’m sure the mod is more developed now, and I’d love to see it!
Id actually love a minecraft mod that mix speculative evolution concepts like All Tomorrows and Man After Man with incomprehensible Aliens and Godlike multidimensional creatures from Lovecraft's mythology. I just love aliens in different forms and shapes
Well, I know a discord server where a tira alien biosphere mod is being made, and there are working versions(though I herd there was some team troubles)
I believe you can datapack that. Ad astra has support for making arbitrary dimensions rocket accessible, and the naturally generating portal could simply be disabled by worldgen datapack files. I was thinking that too, could be a great alien world
Should be easy, the way Ad astra planets works is each planet is actually a dimension. Pretty sure they have some documentation for it on their discord. Should be as simple as a data pack in fact
Honestly this mod looks perfect for using a homemade car or vehicle with valkyrien skies and clockwork. Just imagine driving around this world with your only safety being your truck. Sleeping, crafting. Making sure that nothing breaks down so you don’t end up stranded
I think I saw about a project like this from much earlier that was cancelled, glad to know it’s all back and that I can now experience Wayne Barlowe’s world in Minecraft!
Hi everyone. I'm friends with the creator of this mod and am currently working on a spec evo mod as well, involving other projects like The Future is Wild, After Man, and Serina: World of Birds. It's basically a miniature Alex's Mobs and will be for fabric 1.19.2.
The Alien Planet documentary made my childhood i had a DvD i watched a lot hudreds of times I also never called alien planet i always spoken Darwin 4 instead because this i lost media of the documentary for some time but i found back some years ago and find out about the book wich had even more content that hanst been showed in the documentary Thank you for this
_After all this time, there is _*_FINALLY_*_ a spec evo Minecraft mod…_ _You have proudly earned my eternal respect, and i shall rest in peace, completely fulfilled…_
Hopefully someone makes a Serina: The World of Birds mod someday, ‘cus spec evo mixing with Minecraft is dope. The Darwin mod is very atmospheric & even somewhat creepy in a cool way too. I hope the Eosapiens are included as gentle friendly NPCs you can trade with.
This documentary and the future is wild is what got me into speculative evolution/biology. Great to see it getting implemented into Minecraft as a mod.
Its enough to make a grown man cry, and thats more than ok, the book expedition was one one of my favourites from childhood, and to see it in a mod in minecraft is just beautiful and something I didn’t know I really needed
Very awesome! I really like the concept of speculative evolution mods, especially if it's something _that_ well-made (Well-made for MCreator at least). The creatures look absolutely fantastic! Some points of criticism are the speed at which big mobs turn around, particles appearing from thin air (which, to be fair, also happens in vanilla), rendering bugs with tall blocks (can be fixed by splitting those blocks in two), item models at 4:45 (an easy fix), jetdarter Z-fighting at 8:42 (can be fixed by making the wings 0.01 bigger on the Y axis), boss bars, audio lag (this is about the video itself, not the mod) and some other minor stuff. Otherwise, this is one of the greatest mods made in MCreator!
one thing i wish for this mod to change is the skybox. i know it’s kind of minor, but in the actual book, the skies are clear and sometimes blue (although not all the time. it would be cool if you could have different sky boxes for different biomes)
God, this is so beautiful, I have long dreamed of seeing something like this in Minecraft, thank you for this mod, it is wonderful, just like its creator :)
I used to watch the documentary over and over again when I was a kid. Actually kinda crazy someone made a mod for it. Can't wait till they add the Arrowtongue
I feel like if they want to make the skewer’s flight more accurate they should use something similar to the Phantom’s AI. Phantoms already swoop down, ram into the player and fly away so it’s perfect.
Oh my god!! I watched the video adaptation of the original book in middle school and I was obsessed, then I found out it was originally a book in college and was obsessed again. And now it's in Minecraft! This is so so cool!
I did a double-take so hard when I scrolled past this. I spent no less than 5 hours one week rewatching the cgi "documentary" on early TH-cam. Disconnect seems to take just as much from the books though (which I have yet to get a chance to read) as I'm pretty sure nothing called the Yuma ever came up in the movie.
I think those were a benevolent alien race (not from Darwin IV) that were helping humanity in the book, and took a few of them to Darwin IV as part of an 'Expedition'. I could be wrong, but I remember the name at least being mentioned.
Oh my... OH BOI!!!! THIS. This is not what i expect to see today... But I'm not complaining - quit the opposite. This mod deserves... NO - IT MUST HIT WIDER AREA OF VIEWS. The masses must learn of it, NOW. The book and the documentary adaptation are still one of my favorite specbio stuff by long margen. And now it's get Minecraft mod, which i don't even thick of, and now, when i just woke up, i want to see more of it. The surprise to be sure, but the welcome one indid.
I tried making a mod for this once, I had the same idea for the Yma technology but I used ceramalloy as a block for it instead. I’m pretty sure the sacbacks and beachquills should be in the sand instead of the sea, because that’s what it was in the book. And what’s a spinosa and the saline areas, those weren’t in the book
Incredible...he pulled it off! I hope over time the author will add even more content from the book, especially more fauna biomes, for example, the Pocket Forest with its unusual predatory doggerwist, or the prairie, where unthas and cows running away from the prairie-rem will fight.
HAHAHAHAHA FINALLY, AFTER ALL THESE YEARS! Im not sure if the two amoebic enemies are fresh creations or from the extended Expedition artwork, but they are an interesting addition to the Amoebic Sea and add a uniquely Minecraft touch to the mod. Also, I would be surprised if the Skewer borrows some code from Phantom's if a bit tweaked--primarily soaring high up before diving and swooping in for an attack.
I like to imagine that when you mine into To an asteroid that just shows up 1 day when you download the mod It's just a portal in it that leads to this place
Part of me wishes making everything the sizes they really are would be feasible but then i remember that those two drones are canonically as large as dump-trucks and as such a whole lot of the aliens are, well... massive. The Arrowtongue is larger than a t-tex, not to mention the Grovebacks and Sea Striders being building-sized. Would be kinda spectacular to see things that big... but would be kinda hard to interact with them at all.
Honestly, I think a fun way to get to this world for now instead of the portal would be having a rare treasure item in chests be THE Darwin IV artbook, all tattered-like. Throw it into the end portal like that one infinite dimension snapshot years ago and BOOM. Maybe even have it specifically found in librarian chests occasionally and guaranteed in the stronghold library chests.
woah, never though I would see a mod based on the Book Expedition from Wayne Barlowe, now that is cool, considering it's still in early development, I assume more of the animals from the book, such as the gyro sprinters, will appear, and the possibility of seeing another Villager-like mob with the eosapians. also for anyone who's interested in wanting to know more about Expedition and the animals shown here in this mod, I recommend you get the book, as the mobs in this mod will have their biology and ecology explored in more detail, or watch the alien planet documentary, or if you want a shorter explanation, I recommend the video that Curious Archive has did on the world that Barlowe has made here.
Wait, that's real? Ok, this is amazing, I'm a fan of speculative biology for a while, which is pretty fun. Never thought I'd see someone manage to make darwin IV into a visitable place
