He's best known for creating and starring in the Broadway musicals Hamilton and In the Heights.
He has won a Pulitzer Prize, two Grammys, an Emmy, a MacArthur "Genius" Award, and three Tony awards, among others.
He's Lin Manuel-Miranda and here is my take on his Top 10 Rules for Success.

1. Push through
During his time at Wesleyan University, he co-founded a hip hop comedy troupe called Freestyle Love Supreme.
2. Be motivated by rejections
He wrote the music and lyrics for the musical In the Heights, which opened on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2008.
3. Act on your crazy ideas
He a co-wrote the music and lyrics for Bring It On: The Musical with Tom Kitt and Amanda Green.
4. Experience life
He read Ron Chernow's biography of Alexander Hamilton on vacation and, inspired by the book, wrote a rap about Hamilton.
5. Seize every moment
Hamilton, a musical based on the Hamilton Mixtape, premiered Off-Broadway at The Public Theater in 2015, directed by Thomas Kail.
6. Do what you love
He has been engaged to write songs for Walt Disney Animation Studios' 56th feature, Moana.
7. Make your dreams a reality
He also contributed music for the film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the invitation of director J. J. Abrams.
8. Don't compromise
He's to star in the Mary Poppins sequel Mary Poppins Returns, directed by Rob Marshall.
9. Master your craft
For his performance in the lead role of Alexander Hamilton, he received the 2016 Drama League Distinguished Performance Award.
10. Perform amazingly
He also won the Tony Award for Best Original Score and Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for Hamilton.

NUMBER ONE: Demand satisfaction. If you finish up your work, no need for further action.
NUMBER TWO: If you don't grab a friend, that's your judge. A rejection is motivation, don't hold a grudge.
NUMBER THREE: Meet with your close ones face-to-face, tell them your ideas, or at least what you have already. Telling you 'you're crazy' isn't always right. Most ideas die, and never come to light.
NUMBER FOUR: If you get too caught up in your work, that's alright. Time to take a break and to go outside. You think about your life and the people who love you; Give them a hug to remind you love 'em too.
FIVE: Do something with your life before your soul is in the sky- Go and live your life like you're going to die.
NUMBER SIX: Pick an occupation that you love to do, make it time well spent- pray that it's gonna pay your rent.
SEVEN: Create your dreams, recreating the creative ideas in your head, when you finally get motivation.
NUMBER EIGHT: When at last, your work is in someone's eyes, stick with what you got, don't make a compromise.
NUMBER NINE: Master what you love, you're on the wire- practice as much as you require, then sing!

Lin is a genius. I was lucky I got to see and meet him when I saw IN THE HEIGHTS. Sad I didn't get to see him as Hamilton. He left too soon but I know he did mention, he does plan to go back. Like Lin, I always dreamt of wanting to write and cast myself in my own Broadway show. He's a great role model and is truly a mentor to all fellow writer/actors out there.
My ultimate dream show I want to create is a musical version of the film RUDY. I relate to this character especially we both have big dreams and people think we're crazy and we don't have what it takes. In the end, Rudy made his dream a reality playing football at Notre Dame.

For me, I want to turn the iconic film which was a true story and make it a musical but I don't know where to begin. How to I get the rights to turn an ultimate underdog story as a musical? Who knows maybe RUDY THE MUSICAL will get HAMILTON and DEAR EVAN HANSEN a run for it's money.

"Do what you love". I'm doing that right now. I'm in my second year of working on my MA in Popular Culture. Yes. I'm getting a master's degree in how to analyze and talk about the importance of popular culture in our lives. I want to be that eternal student. What better way than go into academia? So I'll teach college, that's how I'll get paid, but I'll also be doing research about the things I love.

the first thing on the list reminded me of what my French teacher told me about Honoré de Balzac, which was, when Balzac was with his friends he would physically be there but in his mind he's writing the next story of la comédie humaine.
People like him and Miranda just inspire me so much and remind me of the phrase: "why do you write like you're running out of time?"

Also, #2 reminded me of this genius line Adam Driver casually dropped in his Actors Roundtable Interview, something like *"You can kind of know what your potential is more than anyone else".* And dude, that's so true! You might have this sort of very vague idea and be super excited about the concept, knowing it's a sort of cloud at the moment and that it has no substance, it barely has a shape, and you might share it with someone (#3, "be careful who you let in when you have an idea") only to have them totally swat that puff of smoke away, and you're like... *WELL, IT WASN'T FINISHED!* Know your own potential. And believe in it all the way while you're working at it. Whatever "it" is.

Im really gonna try to do something with my life..but how would i start out as an 11 year old??
Just start. that's how things get rolling. Take long walks, write down ideas, read. Start. I don't think age matters. Remember that success doesn't come right away. Don't worry too much and do your best.
