Thank you so much for posting these videos!! I'm in North Carolina, and find your style of painting exactly how I wish I could paint. The perfect cross between realistic and loose paint strokes. Very, very helpful!

You asked for opinions of your first “full” length video, so here goes. It wasn’t long enough, needs to be 2 hours plus , please. Believe you should be doing longer teaching videos, and I won’t be the only one willing to buy them I’m sure. Know they take way longer than what the final version is. I really enjoyed watching you paint, seeing great artists create is such a joy. Thank you. Loved your palette... Loved the finished painting. Have questions though, you spoke about alla prima but also passes, so were the “passes” touch dry because of the use of your medium, or did you just keep painting, layer over layer? Because especially in the foreground it looked wet over wet. Yes I heard you say light touch with the brush and watched your skill with the brushes you were using. Looking forward to seeing your next video release, And did I mention the video wasn’t long enough 😁

Ha ha thanks so much for the feedback !!
This made me smile I’m super excited about putting out more tutorials and it was actually really hard editing this one down to 28 min with 8 passes !
Yes during each pass or painting session you are working wet on wet towards the end of the pass ( each pass was a days work )
Also the lean medium which is just odourless solvent and stand oil does speed up drying time a bit ... each layer is basically touch dry over night but Some time’s it would be 3 or more days between passes as I have small children so don’t work weekends .
      Thanks so much for watching
I’m looking forward to producing some more tutorials soon .

Awesome job Freeman! Do you adhere the linen as well as staple it to the plywood? Just curious how u like it. Seems easier than gluing it like I do. Have u ever messed around with Lead white in place of the zinc? I find it fantastic replacement, and MUCH more durable. Your boy Tischler turned me onto it and I've never looked back since. Non stop research on materials has led me to Alot of lead colors. M. Harding makes fantastic Naples yellows and Lead Tin Yellows(just ordered several tubes %20 off on Jerrys) including Genuine Chinese Vermillion, 😍 anyway...love your work and technique

      Hi Derrick
I stretch the linen quite tight then when I size it that also glued it to the panel as I use unprimed linen the size sinks through .
I do use lead white and infact I introduced Andrew to lead white , before he met me he only used titanium white ….
You are right it’s abs the best white in many ways and superior to zinc .
It has been very difficult to get lead white here in New Zealand until recently and although I had a small stash of it I reserved the use of it for portraits only .
I have now found a good supplier of MH paints and have stocked up on Chemnitz white !
Just be careful not to get it on your hands as it’s super toxic .
      Thanks for the comments!!

Great video Mr White! Could you explain in the future something more about Plein Air oil painting? I am an absolute beginner and I would love to develop here as my plein air painting are clearly lacking. Especially ones containing trees close ups with bark details etc. I would absolutely purchase a video like that!

@@freemanwhiteartist6927 mold is a kind of fungus which grows on oil painting while its get damp or get moist.

Ahhh yes this problem would be worse in a humid climate .
Cotton canvas is more prone to mould growing on the back
If there is any use vinegar to kill the mould .
Traditionall restorers would use a wax solution to impregnate the canvas from the back . This will make it water proof
You could try a wallpaper paste on the back as many of these have anti fungicide in them or there are anti fungal sprays available
I seal my canvas using a water based glue which soaks through the linen, you can also use such a glue to seal the back of a canvas before painting on it ...
Linen tends to be less prone to mould growth
