KD was suppose to be with Luka tbh, KD messed up going to the Nets. He could've had tax free money in Texas and Luka would've had a new unicorn. Hope to see KD make a move soon
Mavs fan and I follow this team closely. This is an experiment that Luka signed off on, and I promise you he'll be glad to have someone else share the load of scoring. What the current roster wasn't going to win long term, because when Luka was out the Mavs were 1-6. If Kyrie walks, then he walks, but it will give the Mavs the information they need.
For Dallas this trade is not about acquisition of Kyrie or loss of 2 good players, it's about keeping Luka happy and trying to build around him. If Cuban perceives him as franchise player as he thought of Dirk, he'll do everything possible to bring necessary force around Luka to make the Mavs champions again. Now he's young and they continue figuring out what tipe of co-star could fit him. In my opinion good center who can score and defend like Jared Jackson or PF like Zion could be a good fit but they are impossible to get by now. Kyrie for certain will not fit well, Skip got good point here regarding their usage and dribbles.
Hm, maybe but it is the wrong move. Both Dallas and Luka should be more patient, teams are not build like that. Takes time, there are levels to this... You need to build a solid, focussed team to win the chip. Kyrie brings very little to the table and almost certainly will wreak havoc to the locker room as soon as he comes under some sort of strain. Anyway, we'll see... I feel for Luka, but he surely was involved one way or another so this is his choice as well.
Completely wrong on all levels. Last season showed the Mavs exactly the type of co star Luka needs and that’s a guy who can score and facilitate to help him get more off ball touches and easier buckets and not exhaust himself doing everything. Luka doesn’t need a all star big man he can make an average center look good he just needs them to defend and catch lobs.
As a mavericks fan I am not sure how to feel, this could easily not work out (kind of expecting it not to tbh) but a big thing for me is that if kyrie does end up leaving in the off season anyway the mavs freed up a lot of money which theyve needed to do for a couple years now.
Luka put them on notice this year he wasn’t above leaving if they failed to attract talent along side him they had to gamble a bit to show him they were devoted to him, they aren’t worried about signing Kyrie as they should be for what they have because their main purpose is to secure Luka in Dallas
They trade a guy like that. You get a King's ransom and move on. It next to impossible building a team around a guy with his style which is being a HoF ball hog. It's hard to get 4 guys happy watching him dribble out the 24 second clock play after play. That's pretty much Dallas's whole offense.
@@larrylindgren9484 any GM who would fire Luka should be fired, and Joel Embiid has a higher usage percentage than Luka and he’s about to be MVP and consistently reach the playoffs, so it’s not about heaving a player with a high usage rate every superstar team does, he needs a talented 2nd he can give the ball to, him and Bronson got to the WCF and lost to the finals champs, which is nothing to sneeze at
@@larrylindgren9484 yeah I agree, he’s fun but very overrated imho tough to win at a high level with a ball dominant wing with poor defense, I think kyrie will just make them worse
Who want to come and play with Luka the ball is in his hands 20 seconds of the shot clock, Dallas will never win a title if there offense is run like that.
shannon and skip really are a dynamic duo in the media. They gel so well together even when they argue. It makes for some good commentary and a lot of times one of them brings up a point or perspective that I had yet to consider.
Kyrie is still the most exciting player i've ever watched in the NBA. Shannon does bring up a good point though: Why do 3 superstars ask for a trade, away from the same team in less than 2 yrs? Things within the Brooklyn Nets organization don't seem to be going well on all levels.
Kyrie has been playing like Basketball is his priority his play has been excellent, he’s an All star an d a Champion. The offer the nets gave him was ridiculous, but no one is talking about that. I definitely would have asked for a trade.
Kyrie hasn't played a full season under their contract. They simply asked him to play a whole season and we'll talk. But he has already said he doesn't wanna play more than 75% of the season AND he doesn't wanna play back-to-back games. What employer is gonna pay an employee the MAX for 3/4 production?
I think Dallas made this move to have cap space this summer, they can either keep Kyrie if it works or have cap space to get someone better with Luka Doncic.
win win lose lose, works or it doesnt man, not contract shackled, if it works genius, if not goodbye, picks meh, they just got 2 first rounders after deadline, would have had 4 now have 3, is money, and could work or not. If it does not wont matter, main thing show Luka you will try.
Exactly! More than likely Kyrie will bolt next season because no way Mark Cuban is giving him a big contract based on less than half a season of play combined with kyrie’s precious history on three other teams… It will be interesting to see how Luka and Kyrie can work for the rest of this season… but will they win games? Kyrie cannot run an offense, he’s just a pure scorer and a head case… but he’ll be on his best behavior because this is a contract year 🥸
Ain’t no way mark Cuban and the front office gave up two players and a couple of future picks kyrie just for him leave in free agency. Mavs should go ahead and give him a contract extension
Idk why some people don't understand that this was the Mavs' only shot at trading for a superstar because nobody with Kyrie's caliber would actually come to Dallas as a free agent. They reached the highest they could, I just hope it works out for them just like it did with Toronto when they traded for 1 year of Kawhi because I don't think Kyrie would resign with Mavs if they don't win the chip this year.
Don't forget the Mavs will have close to the max in cap space if they lose Kyrie this summer. I believe they will make something happen. They won't have another Dirk Nowitzki era
But if Kyrie would never come here in free agency, then why would he sign with Dallas once he's a free agent at the end of the season? I'll answer my own question... Kyrie will value the fact that Dallas wanted him enough to give up assets for him, and I think he'll re-sign with the Mavericks.
They wont be sayin how ball dominant Lebron is…. It doesnt matter when Kyrie can roam for 3 quarters and get 20 in the 4th… Kyrie just isnt a team player. He’s a Kyrie player. Nothing wrong with that… but you cant trust him to no believe in his own Uncle Drewness… out of all the bird fed, baby food NBA players, Kyrie wants even more pampering and back rub… more days off, more media time to say dumb kaka like “we dont need a coach”… if you’re brooklyn, try to go grab bol bol or mo bamba, orlando has “too much” talent… make a play now that the headache is gone
Stars wanna team up but it only works if the players are compatible with each other's character and game style along with coaching staff. Wanting 2-3 superstars on the same team ain't always certain to work.
Agreed it's a copycat League I think when Golden State first started to come around and won their first championship the rest of the league try to emulate what the have Warriors done. But this is what they've forgot the Warriors built through the draft the only Superstar they added was Kevin Durant then other teams tried to build big threes to combat the Warriors. But it doesn't work like that you have to have chemistry, you have to have the right type of players, you have to have the right fit, and you have to play a certain way. The Warriors shared the ball check their pride at the door didn't care who was the leading scorer if you're open you're getting the ball. The same with the Spurs with Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Tim Duncan there was a system in place and everybody accepted and played their role. I knew the moment James, kyrie, and KD together not gonna work you can't just assume oh I have Superstar players on one team. Championship I'm going to have success like the Warriors doesn't work like that it takes a special group of players.
But I don't know tho lebron and dwade work and they both was in there prime and THey both work I feel like it will work o ly if kyrie or luka us willing to step down like dwade

Players tend to love Mark Cuban, as he has a way of understanding and delivering things in a way that other NBA franchise owners could never. No one is talking about that. Ky may have found his place that makes him happy. And thank God I live in Dallas and get to see him play every home game now.

Kyrie played well with Harden and KD , such as Luka played well with Brunson. Luka is a ball dominant because he has to in this Mavs team. The real point here is that they don’t have any defense , but if you watch Mavs’ games you already know that they didn’t even have defense before . It’s a win win for the Mavs because you give Luka a chance to compete and make more trades to balance this team in defense or if Kyrie leaves you open up 40M in cap space to build a real team around Luka .
Somehow I feel that KD and the NETS will be fine moving forward. Now the NETS have a leader in their corner i.e., Jacques Vaughn and Kevin Durant. Now they have a team.
If Kyrie doesn’t pan out, they can let him walk and have room for a max spot. AND Luka is happy because there’s no way they make this move without him signing off so in his eyes they got Porzingis in 2019 and Kyrie in 2023 so he can’t say they haven’t been trying. I think this was smart for Dallas (all things considered and being relative). Maybe JKidd can get through to him 🤷🏿♂️ And if nothing else i love content so this will be a good show lol
Smart move by the Mavericks. Mavs management mainly Mark Cuban knew if the Lakers landed Kyrie Lakers would assuredly went to the WCF. Also having a coach like Jason Kidd will be good for Kyrie.

CLEARLY Kyrie and Tsai and Sean Marks were DONE with eachother. .Luka x Kyrie will be amazing offensive power but defense wise without Finney Smith and Dimwindee...hmmm it's gonna be very tough. West Conference or bust for them this season 🫡🫡
@WeWantTheTruth yes, the Mavs are definitely going to miss them on the defensive end. Mavs got worse defensively because of this trade but got better offensively.
He has been a problem in the locker room everywhere he has gone. Talking behind peoples backs and then going to the media instead of being honest about how he feels about guys both in the way he behaves and the words he says outside of the personal conversations. Not saying he still does this but if you are going to be indirect and act as though you are a woman in a locker full of men then you are going to get a reputation of being weak and untrustworthy on and off the court.
It’s not about him being a monster or even a terrible person. But the fact of the matter is ever since he left Cleveland he’s been more recognized for off the court issues that clearly serve as distractions to his team in organization, wither justified or unjustified. And for all these things to take place, with no championship to show for it, Is what ultimately makes him as a player, perhaps not worth all the trouble.
I’m sure plenty of teams in the East inquired about Kyrie and I’m sure had better packages but it’s hard for a team to trade in conference and teams like LA and PHX probably aren’t willing to deal the little assets they had for him and sent bad packages. A 20ppg type player is very good value for Kyrie when you know you can’t get a star from anyone.
I feel so bad for Brooklyn fans .. I’m a Knicks fan and I couldn’t imagine having KD Harden Kyrie iso joe pierce KG D will and some other guys and yet still not getting past the 2nd round in the playoffs sad to see that for an organization

I doubt he regrets leaving the Warriors... What I think he does regret is who he chose to move with. He had to get out of GS if he ever wanted the chance to build any type of legacy. Just turns out he made the move with someone who seems to play less than he actually plays. Then pushing for Harden which I never seen working in the first place. I honestly think KD pushed for Harden in hopes that Kyrie would be moved and it would leave KD and Harden together. Kyrie wasn't moved which made Harden want out... Then with everything that happened earlier this year with Kyrie there was no way the Nets were extending him so he wanted out. Wouldn't surprise me if the Nets don't actually have a decent season though. KD played well any time that it was him and the role players on the floor together.
@@ChaoticMisfit The moment he joined a 73 win team that reverse swept his Thunder team coming back from 3-1, his legacy was already tarnished/dead.

Can't fault Cuban man but a long term I don't know. Ky the man worth 50 a year damn sure 1+1
“Kyrie for certain will not fit well” is so damn wrong it hurts. Stop buying into Skip’s casual analysis man.
kyrie will not make anyone he plays with happy
As a mavericks fan I am not sure how to feel, this could easily not work out (kind of expecting it not to tbh) but a big thing for me is that if kyrie does end up leaving in the off season anyway the mavs freed up a lot of money which theyve needed to do for a couple years now.

They trade a guy like that. You get a King's ransom and move on. It next to impossible building a team around a guy with his style which is being a HoF ball hog. It's hard to get 4 guys happy watching him dribble out the 24 second clock play after play. That's pretty much Dallas's whole offense.

@@MWAclanGaming i mean with the team the lakers wouldnt be any different in my eyes with kyrie not playin, even while losing russ reaves and/or do I’ll say yeah.. I mean its lebron…
Shannon's there bad mounting Kyrie, knowing damn well he'd happily welcome him to LA with LeBron & the Lakers quicker than a New York minute 🙄🤦
Brooklyn Management is SUS... check out that owner
If Kyrie was traded to the lakers, these two will have a different conversation lol
Because they are in LA and its good for show if lakers are in the mix do to the Fact they talk about Lebron so much his name should be in title of show.
The only difference would be that the Lakers would have a better chance to win the championship... That's all! They been saying even if kyrie came to the Lakers, they don't know if the Lakers would do a long term cause he's so unreliable!
@@ronaldpatterson1701 the lakers would give him 2-3 years for sure but they wouldn’t talk like this.
Facts they talk like he’s done nothing but every media person wants him on the lakers?? But since he’s not they gonna try to tear down his career and act like he’s done nothing when he’s has accomplishments and accolades.
@Kenyon McKee That's your opinion and maybe they would give him 2, but that's not what he wants... he's looking for the max contract and the max contract is 3+years... I don't see it cause of his unpredictable behavior unless there would've been stipulations in his contract! And they're not bashing kyrie, they're saying everything that he's done to himself... they aren't making these things up, he did everything that they're saying, so how are they trying to ruin his reputation?! Shouldn't you be saying kyrie tried to ruin his own reputation cause kyrie did these things without anyone else's help?!
I'm beyond excited for my Mavs, long as Kyrie comes in focused and ready to help the team win games then this will be a W for Mavs Nation.
That’s what KD, and Harden thought 3 years ago. 😆
good luck with that. Maybe having Luka may have some impact but then look at what Nets had when he was on the team and that didn't help any
That's not going to happen
Just hope you get two full seasons out of him before you have to move him
His problem is not not being focused. His problem is people making him a problem. Mfs get hurt 🤷🏾♂️ and the Nets office is racist that was his problem
@@whattheysayk9558 quit playing feel sorry for the overrated African fella 🚬😳
It was not Anti-Semitic. The truth is not Anti-Semitic.
Lost it when Shannon pulled out the “cataclysmic”
If Dallas trust Kyrie's word they are crazy 🤣🤣🤣
TRADE LEBRON!!!!! If your not competing!
It will give Luka more help for sure. Although there will be problems off the court. This also doesn’t help defense.
I believe it will be a match made in heaven. Let’s go Mavs. 🏀
It’s not gonna work
Nah. Kyrie isn't that dude
... And Kyrie believes the world is flat I believe I've said enough
I'm loving how everyone who gets Kyrie thinks somehow hes going to be different than he was on his previous team
We have two ball dominant players who are ONLY most effective with the ball in their hands and who play little to no defense as your backcourt... and to add insult to injury one of em only plays half the time. Only a 12 yr fan with his head in the clouds sees them getting past the 2nd Round
