Hi Tom, Re: the cased, Naval dagger. Again, IMHO, that is a funeral dagger to honor the death of Ltn. Z. S. Belz. The Yr Rune, when inverted, becomes the Todesrune (Death Rune). Therefore it indicates that he was KIA in February 1943, hence also the black grip. 👍

What kind of person would get rid of a nazi flag with the signatures of all the soldiers of that unit? The exact kind of person who would support the removal of historic statues in public squares. A person complete ignorant of thing with historical value. I know several people like this.

895 AAA is the 895th Anti Aircraft Artillery Batallion, B battery. They served in all the theaters listed on that flag. Great historical flag!

I believe that is a death rune on the naval dagger, a life rune should be pointing upwards. It could have been presented in memoriam to the fallen officer which could also makes sense given the black grip. (just speculating, I am no expert)

Tom, Oblt Z,S Karl Robert Belz was a U-Boat officer. He was killed when the U-87 was sunk with all hands on 4 March 1943.
