thank you very much for this video. my wife’s phone fell in the ocean for about 3-5 minutes, but it worked after it dried out. a few days later, the screen shut off, but it was still vibrating and responding to screen touches. we went to a bunch of different stores, all of whom either wanted almost $300 to fix the screen or to just charge her for a whole new phone. i bought a $50 screen off amazon and followed this video, and it works like a charm now. a few notes: 1. i think because of the water damage, i didn’t need the heat gun for anything 2. when you unplug the battery and plug it back in, after turning back on, the phone makes you wait for 5 minutes before trying your password. 3. the selfie camera did not work for the first few hours after it came back to life, but when i gave it to my wife, it started working again. try a hard reset on the phone if your front-facing camera doesn’t work after replacing the screen (on iphone 11 pro, hard reset = press the up volume button once , press the down volume button once, then hold the screen lock button on the right of the phone until the apple logo appears. this will not erase your data). 4. contrary to what another commenter said, face recognition will work without the original greenish plastic bracket. my replacement screen came with its own bracket, and face id works perfectly on the phone. thanks again for such a detailed video!

first you should always remove the power/battery connection to a short or jump. once i was installing an iphone 6s screen and when i connected the digitizer/lcd cable smoke came out and i burnt the back light ic chip. the flex connections are so close to each other that during installation they can land on the wrong terminal for a moment and if there is power in the system it could short the unit. so best practice now for me is always remove power as soon as you open it. after you put all other cables back then you should connect power and test it. second the bottom screws are the same as iphone 6-8-xs it the pentalobe screwcriver.

I think you can still do it the latest one i did was the iphone 8 but yeah the update was for the battery stats 3rd party batteries still work however you'll get a warning just like when you change the touch id on older iPhones

Thats actually cheap trust me from experience its not all done the.same and this video is missing very importamt details the cheaper repair shops are cheap for a reason . You have to be very careful around the ear piece im not a pro but after having many shops replace probably 15 screens ive learned enough . From one shop stripping my oarts, to not putting all the parts in , frying my ohone , cheaper screens that pop off and line busts at the slightest drop ,face id no longer working because then sensor was slightly moved , and they should be transferring the data from the.old screen to the new . Just go to a apple store ans get it done right they are the only ones with the certified screens . These little shops dont have access to them and will have a bad quality screen , not saying it wont look good their is just to much room for error and you will pay 100 to have it fixed and then have to pay 100 to have it fixed again or evem more when they mess something up . Do it right or dont do it at all 1. Use cheaper screens

Loud speaker needs to be lifted with the plastic frame else, face recognition won't work.

That’s always the case if they have to replace your screen. Only apple approved repair shops can remove that message with a iPhone 11 or above
