Not as much as modules by Impressive & Innovative Inc. but those are very rare. As a matter of fact. I just made it up, so they are super are. I want to buy all of the Schlappi modules. All these manufacturers, conspiring to keep me from saving up for a Serge. system
This is by far my favorite filter. It's got tons of character and can get totally crazy with lots of chaos. Picking up AM radio on it is a neat trick too.
@@jvedra9041 Guys get a guitar pedal like fuzz factory or dwarfcraft great destroyer, clones as kits available for about 50 buckazoids, very similar sounds, and some more.
The resonance gain compensation is the best I have ever heard in a module, its the opposite of the moog resonance, which is shrill and sharp and hella fucking annoying ... just uncompensated. The build quality is also the best I have ever seen in a module. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the bees knees when it comes to distortion. Revisiting your top notch video of the “utter filth” module … After seeing the 100 GRIT again at Superbooth I finally got one. One of the most fun modules ever right from the start. With some drum/perc sounds patched in and one of the Versios (currently as Electus) as back-end I could play with this for hours on end. Just amazing!
Man. I’m going to record tonight and wasn’t sure if I was going to use the grit. You have me an idea though, thanks Ben. Glad this video came out today.
the module looks very versatile and the sound is also fantastic ... a nice approach ... and as always very interesting patches from you, maximum respect and thanks for all the creative musical videos ..... have a nice christmas
Nasty!! I love it. Schlappi make some bonkers modules. I was close to pulling the trigger on an Interstellar Radio. I emailed the company to ask about shipping to Australia. He said he did it but advied against it in current climate as US postal service totally borked!! Missed out on a well pried used module about a month ago. Was gutted. But it got snapped up almost immediately after being listed. Bonkers module. I love it.
Living in the US I’ve not had problems, but I don’t know about shipping out to other countries, I imagine it’s more rumors than truth. Propaganda reins supreme in America these days sadly. I would trust the USPS to get your package, it costs like a buck to insure it and most come with it free if it’s above ground mail.
looking for something to replace my Dwarfcraft Great Destroyer for high frequency audio dropouts (a small amount of what it does, but most of what I love) and filtering as I switch to Eurorack. this is ... exactly it. thank you for demoing it. can't wait to play that noise set.
Just wanted to say: Pairs well with All Flesh by Landscape. Most modules do, but this thing is extra special when doing that kind of patching. Hey. Anyone try this with the jumper removed, that makes it a "normal" filter, that is similar to that one filter? I haven't done it yet. I'm doubting the touch points will do much in that configuration.
Another great video Ben :) I've watched a lot of your vids, and always love your drum parts when you demo modules. What sequencers do you use to programme your drums? I'm sure it's varied, but any go-tos?
You probably already heard this question, but are you gonna continue making DivKid music like Mumbai or Tailwhip, or are you completely done with that kind of music style?
I cannot believe I just came across this. Do you still use this "filter"? Is there any way to choose between linear or exponential on the VCA? Also, do you still want to use a dedicated VCA module with this filter/distortion/VCA module?
I tend to use lots of VCAs so I can adjust the behaviour and sound/response of things around a patch. For example having a VCA before and after a filter (especially a filter with a nice drive/saturation input stage) then the first VCA can very saturation levels and the final VCA can be used with an envelope for the overall shape of the notes. I do still use the 100 grit yeah.
@@DivKidOh ok, cool. So you tend to use two VCA's in a patch, one before the filter and one after being modulated by an envelope generator? I might have to give that a go. Thank you! Loved this filter by the way. Also, would love to see what kind of filter you created yourself, style wise.
Not always, but yeah I'd say that's a regular patch. VCOs, into a mixer, mixer output into a VCA, use a sequenced stepped voltage, then into a filter, then into the final VCA modulated by the envelope. Envelope modulation typically for the filter cut off but often a mixer for that too so I can mix, an envelope and LFO, or envelope and stepped random onto the filter cut off. Bonus points (this is where say a quad VCA that mixes is really handy) if you have more VCAs as you can do things like patch into different VCAs with a saw wave, sub square, noise and maybe a second oscillator and use different modulates to change the level of each other time. Then mix all that together before the filter rand you can have a really dynamic shifting or repetitive sort of 'riff' of wave shape changes.
@@DivKidLove this! Thank you! I will definitely give this a go, sounds incredible. I have two audio+CV mixers, a two channel VCA and a quad VCA, so I can definitely make this work! Speaking of quad VCAs, do you have a preference between Mutable Instruments Veils (or any of its clones) versus say the Intellijel Quad VCA? Thank you for your continued help and any additional info you can provide! About to join your Patreon.
This is really unique, i love mine. I wish there was an oscillator/sound source that is like that, puts out different weird unpredictable sounds with every small turn of a knob and everything interactive. Was not as impressed with the Angle Grinder as with this.
Two as a complex oscillator with AM/FM on the filters/oscillator and VCA will be killer. Lots of range in it, I'm impressed as you are with it and still really enjoy it.
bigger or smaller module? Filter with distortion or just distortion? Like the touch points? Want more CV? ... not the easiest things to compare although there's of course some feature/sound overlap. Both good modules.
