    omg thank you! This little torch has been nothing but a problem since I got it and your video helped me solve all the issues I was having with it.

    This is a brilliant solution that worked well for me. I used a 5mm silicone hose from the fuel cylinder and a short section of 8mm tubing to connect the primary tubing to the 13mm torch body. Friction fit was all that was required. Also, I did not need to chop off the inlet valve on the torch, just unsrewed it using a jewellers screw driver. Koodos to the author.

      I think sacrificing a blade screwdriver will work too. Put the screwdriver in a vise and with a hacksaw cut a notch down the center deep enough to clear the nipple. Widen the notch as wide as the nipple with a hobbyist's file.

    I've lost the disc while trying to clean it. Years after, I've managed to make a new one out of soft drink aluminium can. I measured the hole in the torch, then I took a belt hole puncher (pliers) got the appropriate size and made a small disk, took a needle and made a very small hole in the disk, works perfect.

    Thanks for the info, i took my jet lighter and heated the tip. Only for 5 seconds or so, maybe twice and it cleared the tip really well.

    dude, that's fantastic! I had those problems immediately with the little torch. I don't always want to fire up my Oxy-Acetelene setup and it seems that my map/oxy setup is always out of O2. threw away the one of those little torches I had purchased, but now I'm confident it can be worked with the next time. thanks

    Fantastic idea, I was wondering if I should struggle with the tiny torches, the chefs brulee torches or invest in an oxy mixer set. This idea seems to be the best of all worlds giving the highly controllable mini touch a much needed extended flame life.

    The jet can be blown out with compressed air backwards without any disassembly apart from removing the locking screw and unscrewing the whole front end, valve, neck and burner. the other problem with bubbles of liquid is easily solved by preheating the burner and neck before lighting. Contaminants also get into the one way filling valve resulting in leaks, again you can remove the front and blow it out. A very small o ring from a disposable cigarette lighter can be put on the one way filling valve stem and helps to minimise leakage when filling.

    I have one identical to these, I bought it in the early 90's and it has never clogged or leaked, I bought a gem.
    Ive always used brand name fuel with so so results, I decided to try some china brand fuel and it worked better than any brand name Ive ever used and half the price.

    When you remove the flame tip from the tube, there is a tiny round metal piece that has an invisibly fine hole in it.... This tiny flat circular insert is the Jet Hole & is what needs to be cleaned and unblocked... IT MAY NOT COME OUT.. But if u didn't know to look out for it, the chances of it being lost is fenominally high indeed .. Soaking the whole tip in a solvent is the best option, if jet disk does not come free of it's own accord, I would check if the blockage has cleared, before attempting to dislodge it, as delicately as you possibly can.. (I shaved a match stick down, leaving the end blunt, to carefully poke it out)..
    DO NOT attempt to clear a blocked 'Jet Hole' with a needle or anything that's Sharp, as the hole needs to be microscopic and if you widen it, the flame will be more like a candle than a Jet.... Soak it in a solvent agitating it regularly, then wipe it & carefully reinsert it into the hole in the Center of Jet Tip, then screw the pipe snugly up to it, thus holding it in place.... Good luck... 🤘😁👍

  • @zeroumashi2947
    @zeroumashi2947 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    you'd be better off using a compact propane tank, a regulator valve, some braided vinyl rated @ 200psi, and some ear clamps.
    the gas going through the hose won't go higher than 80 psi but the hose should last a while since it's rated for gas at higher pressures.

I detached the burner like in your video and cleaned it like showed (using acetone) but there was no inprovment afterwards....Could it be because acetone is maybe a wrong solvent ?

    Well done presentation, Quin! Easily understood.
    Wouldn't it be faster and stronger to solder the neck to the knurled adjuster rather than using epoxy? Or with a small vise grip carefully grip the neck while releasing the lock tight connection to the nozzle?

    • @davidbell4986
      @davidbell4986 ปีที่แล้ว

      Propane is much higher pressure than Butane. I use Propane in mine because it has a metal body. I just bought an adapter to screw on the propane bottle and fill it just like butane. I think propane is a dirtier fuel so may have to clean the orifice a little more often. People that go camping in the winter often use propane in their butane lighters as long as the lighter body can take the pressure.
