Justice League: War is a 2014 American animated superhero film featuring the DC Comics superhero team the Justice League. It is the 18th film of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies and the second film in the DC Animated Movie Universe.
The film depicts an invasion of Earth by the alien and demon "New God", Darkseid, and the subsequent formation of the titular superhero team to counter it, which includes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Cyborg and Shazam.
Plot
A series of abductions have occurred in Gotham City; Batman is implicated due to video footage. Green Lantern stops a kidnapping before attacking the kidnapper, a Parademon, and is almost defeated when Batman appears. The Parademon attacks them both; Batman and Green Lantern chase it into the sewers, where it charges a Mother Box and explodes. They examine the box, deduce it is of extraterrestrial origin, and decide to ask Superman for an answer. Another Mother Box, supplied by Flash is being studied at S.T.A.R. Labs by Silas Stone, father of Victor Stone.
Superman, who fought with a Parademon previously and believes Batman and Green Lantern are working with it, fights the both of them; the two are hopelessly outmatched, with the battle only stopping when Batman calls him "Clark" and Superman discovers Batman is Bruce Wayne. The trio begin to work together against the Parademons. On the planet Apokolips, Darkseid orders Desaad to begin an invasion of Earth in response to the superheroes' discovery of his plans. Victor and Silas argue over Silas' belief that metahumans are more important than football. Superman, Batman and Green Lantern realize an invasion has begun when the box activates and several Boom Tubes appear throughout the world.
The Box in S.T.A.R. Labs explodes and creates a Boom Tube when Victor is holding it. The explosion fuses the technology inside the Box to Victor's wounded, mutilated body. As several Parademons attack, Silas takes Victor to a technologically advanced medical bed and uses experimental technologies on him. Countless Parademons appear and attack around the world. The Box's technology spliced with Victor's body fuses itself with the various technologies around the room. Victor is transformed into Cyborg, with a body capable of transforming and adapting itself, including obtaining new features. Just as the Flash saves the scientists, Cyborg discovers details of Apokolips, Darkseid, and the invasion plan. He learns that the Parademons are actually inhabitants of worlds conquered by Darkseid, spliced with his technology, allowing him to mind-control them into serving as an army for conquering other planets. Billy Batson sees a Parademon outside and mystically turns into the superhero Shazam. Air Force One is attacked in the air, but is saved by the Amazon princess Wonder Woman and Superman. After the heroes gather, Cyborg reveals that the invasion is a prelude to the terraforming of Earth. Darkseid arrives and proves to be an extremely powerful opponent and the entire Justice League is hopelessly outmatched.
Darkseid uses his Omega Beams to fight Flash and Superman, who is incapacitated and captured by a Parademon. Batman prevents Green Lantern from going after them on his own with a broken arm. He tells Green Lantern to think about the lives at stake rather than his own image as a hero, and after unmasking himself, reveals that his parents' murders are what motivated him to fight evil. Bruce allows himself to be captured to save Superman. Green Lantern has the idea to strip Darkseid of his Omega Beams by destroying his eyes. Bruce goes through a portal to Apokolips, where he escapes the Parademon and stops DeSaad from turning Superman into a Parademon. Superman is left unstable and highly aggressive because of the brainwashing process, resulting in him strangling DeSaad to death and attacking Parademons and Batman. Batman reasons with him, and helps him reassert his own personality. On Earth, after Darkseid's eyes are destroyed by the Justice League, Cyborg reopens the Boom Tubes to send Darkseid and his army back to Apokolips. Darkseid fights back, and with Superman and Batman's assistance, the group eventually force him through the portal. With the world saved, the superheroes gain the public's trust and are honored at the White House.
In a post-credits scene, an Atlantean ship emerges from the ocean and Ocean Master appears carrying the dead body of his king. He believes that the surface dwellers on Earth are responsible, calling it an act of war from the surface, for which he swears revenge.

A lot of the hero's are dead, those that were captured by Darkseid were transformed and brainwashed into working for Darkseid but were later saved.
There are other hero's, earlier in this scene, that are even worse off than Starfire and Wonder Woman.
Raven is all in white because she released her father Trigon from his prison in the gem she wears on her head to fight Darkseid.

Its just lazy writing by DC. Everytime they have a worldwide crisis, they use Flash to reboot the timeline. At least Marvel wrote their stories around the events that happened, like the Infinity Gauntlet, Secret Invasion, Rise of Onslaught, House of M, Secret Wars, Civil War 1, World War Hulk, Avengers Vs X-Men, Fear Itself, Civil War 2 etc etc. Even when superheroes die, they chose to continue the stories

This animation style is the best I seen from DC. I love how gritty and “adult” these movies were too! They should have kept it going!

Every animated film after this, was due to flash and Constantine resetting the board.
That's why Constantine was a herald of warning and the flash was to be the catalyst for the crisis on infinite earths.

Constantine is one of my favorite DC characters. He is pretty good about not letting his emotions control his decisions, but at the same time manipulating others emotions to get the most desired outcome.
We did not get to see enough of Damian and Ravens relationship 😢

I knew going into this movie that it would be sad, but actually seeing the League and what happened to them made me cry. Shazam torn apart, Diana being a half cyborg…. It was brutal. I’m glad they didn’t sugar coat the movie
Finally. Someone who enjoyed the movie. Others called it shit. Personally I love it and it was a sad ending.
Its a good shit, because it feels realistic.
Shazams death hits the hardest, knowing that he turns back into a kid with his final "Shazam" only to get mauled by paradooms

Also a fair bit of time has passed, but Damian is still clearly a teenager, as is Raven, so i'd say Billy is around 15 at best

What hurts the most, and you can see it on Barry's face while he's running, is that he has to leave them all behind. He is going to restart everything, and all those choices, all those sacrifices, all that was done, means nothing.
But he will remember it.
Whenever the Flash goes back in time to change the past his memories of the old timeline slowly get overwritten by the new timeline he created. So luckily for him he’ll eventually forget how things used to be, even to the point of forgetting that he changed the timeline in the first place. It’s most likely the case that the Flash/Barry from the Tomorrowverse movies is the same one we see here from the DCAMU, he’s just forgotten it. If that’s the case then the Tomorrowverse itself isn’t a different/parallel universe per se, but actually the new timeline he created.
Any of the differences it has from the DCAMU prior to the point he went back in time to can be explained the same way it was in Flashpoint: when Barry goes back to a point in time to change something it doesn’t necessarily only affect everything that took place afterwards, rather it can send ripples through the speed force that even change events that took place before it as well. For example, saving his mom somehow made it so Bruce Wayne was killed instead of his parents and Superman/Kal-El’s ship landed in Metropolis instead of the Kent Farm, despite both of those events having occurred before his mother’s murder etc.
Though it’s actually much worse this time around than when he created/undid Flashpoint. In the DC showcase animation ‘John Constantine: House of Mysteries’ (which was implied to take place immediately after this scene from Apokolips War) the Spectre explains to Constantine that when the Flash went back in time again he caused more than just “ripples” this time around, rather caused a whole “tidal wave” through the universe/multiverse. In the most recent film ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 1’ we see the result of it, the destruction of parallel universes throughout the multiverse

His crime was using magic to show flash what needed to change, and guiding him to shape the Flashpoint rather then letting it take its course.
They pulled no punches making this movie and I’m honestly glad they went beyond dark with all their characters and how they did this movie, and seeing that Flash is basically hitting the reset button hopefully next time they’ll be ready

White Raven is essentially a demigod.
This is a very rare act of selflessness from Constantine who usually chooses his own life over the lives of others. they did him good in Thai movie and in JL dark. Both 10/10 movies highly recommend

Kinda love what Constantine is saying here, cos he's not just talking about the current movie. It's meta, but the writers here are talking about the DC animated universe as a whole. They're essentially saying that this universe, this story, has run its course, and it's time to start over again. "We may make the same mistakes" bit is the writers saying "look, maybe we'll mess some stuff up, but we can't dwell on the same continuity forever, stories end, so new stories can be told."
And they were right, they made some fuckin mistakes with Tomorrowverse lol but it's still a cool sentiment

I watched this damn movie and just now noticed starfire and nightwing. That's so sad. He was berserk because of te Lazarus pit, but starfire gave him enough peace to sleep.
The way they handled the time reset this time is so heart wrenching it's actually interesting. Diana's flesh had been rended so much she had to be turned into another cyborg, the world was so damaged that it could not be saved, and there was only one way... But Barry knew changing the timeline would be a bad idea, but this time, John knew that given everything right now it was worth a try. But it must have still been hard for Barry to leave behind his friends as he knew them. And all things considered, Damian and Rachael were kinda a cute couple. All that would be erased once again, but the history of Earth would end either way, this was just a chance to correct this doomed one with a potentially imperfect yet more hopeful one.
Bring back that Damian! He was the best part of this, and him with Raven

I love how everyone agreed in silence. Superman could had spoke, Batman could had look angry or shock, raven and Damian could sad hug goodbye. No, either a redo and fix this hell. Superman is a symbol of hope and will always try to be happy and boost everyone up but even he didn’t believe they could fix this timeline.
DCAU was a great string of movies. Really fun having them all part of the same universe. I appreciated how they were made for a mature audience. Apokalipse War was a fantastic way to end it. Loved this move. Loved pretty much all the DCAU movies.

This movie really disturbed me inside. Seeing so many deaths. Shazam hit me the hardest knowing he was a child. Made me think of my son. I had nightmares for weeks 😢. I don't care what anyone says, the DCAU was soooo good!!

It’s the same universe but an alternate timeline. There probably are universes that are probably like this exactly but the tomorrowverse takes place in the same universe as DCAMU just a change in the timeline.

Unless flashpoints can restart universes entirely causing it to be classified as a new Earth and we know that Flash didn’t just teleport to a different Earth as Constantine tells Flash to change the timeline altering the course of history and it’s characters.

I'mma be honest, Gar never seemed to be the type who's into goth girls. I've never seen a continuity where Gar and Terra live happily ever after, but there should at least be one continuity with that pairing.

I love this universe! I really wish we could have more movies with these versions of the characters (especially Damian).
Time Travel to fix something has always been something I could never wrap my head around, no matter what TV show. Always saw it as not just a case of a person losing their memories, but that person dying, blinking out of existing and something else taking it's place, sorta like Transporters from Star Trek.
Can't Flash just run back in time to warn them about Darkseid spying on them through Cyborg.

Binge-watching the DCAMU with my girlfriend was one wild ride. So many emotions; so many thrills. I'm grateful for the time I could spend with this iteration of these amazing legendary characters.

this scene kind of defeat the points of darkside conquering the earth in the first place. i mean why would he even need earth molten core when there's a sun in the solar system. practically less harder to be defended since it's in space and he'll kill justice league when he's done harvesting their sun. other than being evil, logistically speaking it's one heck of a hassle of operations. and that's why people like thanos more than darksides since at least thanos do the math and kill half of the population instead of increasing the resources. because with half of the demand is more sustainable than increasing the number of resources that will increase the number of population and demands in the first place.
Darkseid does what he does because he can. Only High Father has been able to flatout deny him. These big climatic battles with the Heroes of Earth is just Darksied going out getting some exercise.

Have you not met Darkseid he will do anything to hurt Klark in any way. If he can't give Klark as a son, he will hurt him for all eternity as his enemy.
Darkseid, although he already won, isn't dumb. He knew his reign wasn't going to last forever, so he made sure Earth would end up beyond repair if ,by any miracle, Superman and League managed to beat him.
