This is an amazing tribute but killing Carl remains one of the worst decisions in TV history.

I just caught up with the show today and watched that episode a couple of days ago and loved it. I thought his death was so beautifully done that I cried and I think him dying at that point in the story was the perfect time for 3 reasons:
1: Because if he hadn't have died and his letters asking for peace hadn't been his legacy, Rick's decision to let Negan and The Saviors live would have been out of character.
2: Carl's character development had him become the most compassionate character on the show in Season 8. His dreams bought on the new world of peace. If he stayed alive, they would still have to do character development, because that's how screenwriting works, so they would have just devolved him again. He died at the peak of his character.
And 3: In the latter seasons, the walkers haven't been a threat to the major cast at all. The characters focusing entirely on Negan and the Saviors, only to be suddenly hit with the realisation they need to take the walkers more seriously is narrativley significant and impactful. He was in the original Atlanta gang, went through so much, then died so anti-climatically doing something he's done a hundred times. It reinvents the walkers as a threat from here on and reminds the characters that they have to take things more seriously.

i don't think so actually, i feel like, if caracteres are here too long , we lack interest in them, it's like in real life when a good man die, we all start to see how much we miss them and regrets to not do certain things, when carl died we see his true value

Man, when Carl blasted that kid for no reason, and Hershel was trying to tell Rick about it, but he wouldn't believe it. One of the best moments from the entire series for me.

Carl wasn't always my favorite character, I never hated him. But never really thought he would leave such an impact on the show. Now that Carl is gone. We lost one more season 1 character, of a already small cast of them. Rick now has nothing to really push him forward, course he has Judith, but Carl was something else to him. Rest in peace, Carl.

I don't think I will ever get over his death. Carl was really important to me. He was my favorite character on the show and my second favorite character of all time. I cried the whole episode of his death and a good hour after that alone in my room. I still can't help myself crying when they mention him in the other episodes after. He did beat this world💔

Well, it's about timeline and scenario. You see in the arch of Negan and saviors Carl was only 12-13, 14 is max. While the actor who played Carl was about 19-20. He just couldn't play Carl without a timeskip or smt. So creaters decided to kill Carl in the show, while in comics he lived until the very end, and he grown up as 30-40 years family man.
Not a lot of youtube videos hit me hard but this one was amazing, bravo to you sir

He didn't deserve to die, he was his sisters role model he was Edens partner, he was Michonne's son, he was ricks other half and ricks world. He should have lived he should still be in the show, the show writers where stupid to kill him off. he was there for every one he helped people, he protected people. He had been through so much, when he was younger he saw his friend as a walker he had to watch his mom die then kill her, he was tourched by Negan and other people. He watched his friends die (Glenn, aberham,Olivia,Spenser,lori,shane and much more). he got shot twice once in the chest and once in the eye. He didn’t deserve to die he was strong, mentally and physically. He just had been through so much and then he died he was finally strong then he had to die from a walker. RIP Carl Grimes I will always miss him ❤️ ❤️
