He is dancing with his eye closed, he would rather be in a mediocre relationship than not at all because he either loves her too much, or he is too insecure to be independent. So why when he sits back down, she barely acknowledges him because she wants out but he is not meeting her halfway.

And a spade is a tool used for digging/cutting. Seeing as there are only these two cards (ace of hearts and ace of spades) on Olly's table I would think they are opposites. One is promise of love and the other is promise of conflict. With both couples, Olly shows each partner first a heart and the next one a spade. Half love, half conflict. Which is a recipe for passionate disaster. Once a card has been dealt the partners accept his/her individual fate and leave. But unlike the other three, the lead guy just keeps on dancing, refuses to show his eyes and ignores everyone else's presence. I think he was feeling frustrated and bored in the beginning of the clip. But by the end he lets go of himself, feeling only the music and doesn't want to accept a change of heart. It could have all just been thoughts in his head; trying to figure out if she even likes him or if he'll let her go. I love all Y&Y songs, but this one remains my favorite. Olly's voice + that awesome electro/synth music, and soft beats, it's amazing. Not to mention the surrealism, I am yet to fully understand the video.
Sometimes you hear a song or band and know they will have a hit or two. Then there are a few times however when you hear and see a band and feel that this may be the sound of a monumental shift in the musical spectrum. I may be going overboard in saying this but this band may be that shift. This is more than just good music this is groundbreaking in my opinion.
