I don’t know if you are aware or not but you can do the same as an employee as long as your company allows the mega back door Roth. Most do not but you can get a match and put the max in at work then get a side business and do the rest thru a solo401k which will lower what your business needs to make in order to qualify if maybe you don’t make enough in your business yet
