What I like to do to get more frontlining out of frontline units, its to not form them into walls or squares, but instead form them into long and narrow poles that are pointing towards the incoming enemies. This way often the enemy just clumps around the tip of that frontline unit, so less models in total are engaged. This means the frontline unit dies slower and as a side effect you get better sightlines and fire lines from the gun or archer units behind and less friendly fire. The pole shape also reduces the distance a frontline unit gets pushed back by the initial charge since their line is like 30 models deep (since the unit only stands 3-5 units wide). Forming a V shape with gunpowder or flamer units at the bottom of the V also works well since often flankers don't go around far enough for their flanking and get stuck on the 2 frontline units at the front/flank that are forming the bars of the V.
Yeah, they changed the spellcasting from WH2. If I recall correctly, you only used to get revealed from missile spells. Now any casting reveals you. Sadly, no more stealth nuking the enemy army.

The only way I could see the second part going better is if you brought the dragons over to breath attack the mobbed infantry. 16:52 just looks so delicious... Delaying healing would have left the dragons pretty low at that point, but in hindsight the battle went on for long enough that there'd be plenty of time to heal them after the infantry routed.
That, and rear charge the slaves with dragon prince once the skaven melee infantry was routing archers, I think could have been possible. But I don't play on legendary, so it's easier to pull off this kind of stuff when you can pause.
@@arthanor9631 idk, I personally agree with him not doing that. @Uncertainty2 definitely not a foolproof maneuver, but if it works, it would definitely speed up things. Legend borrowing Bretonian battle tactics „sac the plebs win with cav“ as well as playing the Skaven against each other with an elvish army, lovely indeed!
Funny how a silly unit almost nobody uses can be so problematic, especially for the dragons. Skavenslave slingers have a lot of models, are in very loose formation and even more loose when moving or disrupted, so just a pain to kill with single entities. Ridiculous how much trouble they were giving those poor dragons.
