  • Interview with Michael Replogle, former Deputy Commissioner for Policy of the New York City Department of Transportation (1/3)
Michael Replogle was Deputy Commissioner for Policy of the New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) from 2015 to 2021. He helped determine the long-range strategy for NYC DOT and advance new initiatives.
In Part 1 of the interview, Michael Replogle talks about the range of new projects he helped to launch - from the expansion of the bike share system and the e-cargo bike initiative to programs for more delivery zones as well as charging infrastructure. In particular, Michael Replogle highlights the Open Restaurants Program, which made public space available to restaurants citywide without red tape during the Covid pandemic. The program made streets more livable and saved over 100,000 jobs.
