I agree with with everything you listed! I think sneakers are for working out and I would never buy the Chanel dad sandals, because they look like Birkenstock sandals that probably offer more support and are cheaper. What you said about the plastic shoes is how I feel about dad sandals, which most people would disagree, I know. Sis, thanks for the K comment, because a lot of influencers of color support them.
I can confirm that birkenstocks are comfortable, offer great foot support and are cheaper. I always wondered why people didn't just buy Birks. Also that $500-$600 Teva looking sandal? Why not just buy Tevas for $80?
All of this. When I saw everybody getting LV and Chanel Dad Sandals, I just looked at my Birkenstocks for 125 that to me look better and I just shake my head. And the Skims shoutout on black women just make me sick.

For me, it’s Balenciaga. I’m IMO, the way they brand their items cheapens the aesthetic. I don’t like it when luxury brands print their name/logo all over the piece. It makes it seems like the person wearing it tried too hard. 🤷🏽♀️

I noticed some of these TH-camrs purchased all these overly expensive items and the items do not look appealing on them hence the Bottega Veneta Wire Stretch High Heel. Let me just say Thank You for being so SOLID and not selling the hype dream of all this unnecessary overpriced tacky luxury that more than most of the influencers are gassing. I love luxury but I love classic luxury Fendi has always been my favorite of all brands but they stretched it with those collabs. You are so right about everything in this video I’m the small fish in this TH-cam sea and I say all the time these brands are just slapping their names on anything just to see who’s going to buy it. Most of the celebrities with long long money aren’t even pressed to wear this stuff but we (black girl/women) are spending our last to “Look Rich” just for a IG pic or YT video just because an influencer is saying so chile I can go straight to Shein, Citi Trends and It’s Fashion Metro and find a dupe to all that stuff they’re wearing for under $50 and that’s about all it’s worth anyways not these thousands. That’s why I love the message you bring to this community -You can have luxury but make it make sense! Thanks for listening to my Ted talk lol ❤️

I'll admit that part of what drives prices is quality and quality being associated with the brand/designer name. That being said, at what point does a bag, shoe or article of clothing that cost a tiny fraction of the price to make, become so enticing that you're willing to pay $25k for an item that probably only cost about $500 to make (yall know who I'm talking about). They really do play to the psychology of "keeping up with the Jones'" just to say you have something that the rich or elite have. I can't say they don't get me as well, but it's just amazing how some of our self worth and esteem can be caught up in the fact that we didn't spend light bill money on a designer that most likely couldn't care less about you as a person.
