    I have one coming up on August 6 2023. I'm bringing a boatload of my Xanax with me. I've had the upright MRI which is FANTASTIC , you just sit in a chair but it's a huge MRI machine, you're squeezed in a bit on the side, they get you in tightly but there's no walls and you can watch TV on a wall across the room. But the travel time is an issue to the one near me.
    GET SHITFACED ON something lol, and get a ride home. But i have to get my neck done too, I hope that doesn't mean a helmet. This is insane in 2023 that we must go through this.

    I am traumatised just listening to your story. 🙂 I commented on your first MRI video as I experienced the same thing. I hate that helmet thing and I refused to have the MRI. Sedation next time and even then, I might still run out of the machine. To me it's a torture device.

      I actually feel it’s worse than a regular MRI. Sure there are no sides but it is WAY closer to your face than a regular MRI. I won’t be doing it again

      I panicked, I couldn’t do it at all!! I’m going to see if I can do the sit down or stand up MRI. Simply because I can’t do the open or closed MRI

    Agree 100 %. I freaked out on closed MRI after the nurse started to walk out. I took the Open MRI yesterday and it was so peaceful. Could not believe it. The Ativan really helped but it takes 3 days to get out of your system. I had a mask and a blanket and was so comfortable. It took 30 minutes and I felt great.

    Hi were the images sufficient in the end? I’m having one next week for my brain and I’m scared about them still making me go into a tunnel due to the pictures not being good. Were yours good for the doctor?

    I’m getting an open mri on Monday 12/6. I was supposed to have one in October but it was a closed mri and I ended up having a full panic attack. So I am hoping the open mri will be an easier experience. My dr also gave me a RX to help calm my nerves. Thank you for sharing your experience.

      Yeah, I can't do a closed one. Not going to happen. I tried a long time ago and I get claustrophobic. Fortunately there's one about a half hour away in the city I can go to that does open ones. I'm not thrilled about the idea of having to sit there for an hour though.

      Open MRI’s are not worth it. The image quality is so much lower :( it’s sad that the incredible magical machine is so small for acquisition purposes.

    I agree with everything you said. I requested a wide bore machine for my prostate MRI. I am extremely claustrophobic. Any experience with wide bores ?

    • @Goodbye_Megaton
      @Goodbye_Megaton ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wide bores are typically about 4 inches wider in diameter than traditional bores. How big are you? I've had wide bores 3 times. In 2017, and twice in 2019. I'm a male, 6 ft, and about 185 lbs at the time of those MRI's. Didn't really have an issue with them, because they weren't pushing me on my sides. Today, I had an all out anxiety attack when I had to do a Brain MRI in a traditional bore 3.0T MRI device, which is only 23.6 inches in diameter. I couldn't do it. They put these pads on my sides between my arms and the tube, so that my arms wouldn't burn. As soon as they slid me in, I felt the squeeze. I had a folded black bandana covering my eyes, but I didn't last more than 20 seconds in the tube. Way too constricting. I think wide bores would be tolerable for most, but after todays experience I'm looking to try and get away with either a 0.6T stand up MRI device, or a 1.0T, possibly 1.2T high field MRI device. Really comes down to how big you are honestly, and if you will feel the squeeze from the sides. If you don't feel the sides, and you keep your eyes closed, you could be fine. If they have music, have them start it before you go in. That might have helped today for me, but I don't think so. I was shoved into that thing so fast. Sounded like the tech was 50+ft away when I went in. Hope you get through it.

    Do you get dizzy when your going in the mri?

  • @DarlingNikki2
    @DarlingNikki2 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I've had three MRIs, 2 open and 1 in a place that had what they called wide bore for people up to 550lbs. I'm plus size but nowhere near 550lbs and that machine had me panicking! It was squeezing me around my arms and shoulders and even though I logically knew I wouldn't get stuck in it, I still felt like I might get trapped. Add to the fact that pillow clinics use tend to be too fluffy and offer no head and neck support and I didn't last ten minutes in that thing. I was so embarrassed and pissed (300 bucks on my end for that torture) and will never trust that wide bore bullsh-- label again! The 2 open ones were ok, but took 45 minutes of laying on my back, which is my problem area, so I almost couldn't get through it but I held on. I don't recall it being close to my face, I guess it was, but the sides were open, cool air was being gently blown in, and I didn't feel panicked. Really would think with all the crazy technology we have that MRIs would be less panic inducing!

    I've had 2 open mri but the quality apparantly isn't that great (at least not where I live) so I'm stuck with the tube. Going in tomorrow. Don't know how it'll go. I have severe claustrophobia. And have had panic attacks before. If I'm able to crawl out this thing myself I might be able to handle it. I'll be getting an abdominal mri so hopefully no head cage. An abdominal cage would be Just as bad though

    HI THERE BETTIE! I HAD AN OPEN MRI 23 YRS AGO AND IT WAS A SOMETHING THAT DID NOT BOTHER ME AT ALL EXCEPT FOR THE METAL SURFACE OF THE EQUIPMENT BUT OTHER THAN THAT IT WAS FINE. I WAS ASSIGNED TO AN OPEN MRI BECASE AT THE TIME I HAD A HERNIATED DISC IN MY LOWER SPINE AND I COULD NOT BE PLACED IN A CLOSED MRI FOR COMFORTABILITY REASONS. BUT OTHER THAN THAT, PATIENTS SHOULD NOT BE FEARFUL OF AN OPEN MRI. MY NEXT MRI WILL DEFINITELY BE A CLOSED MRI FOR CLARITY REASONS BECAUSE IT HAS TO DO WITH MY PROSTATE . BUT I AM NOT CLUSTER PHOBIC SO I WILL BE MORE THAN CONFIDENT TO TAKE IT. THIS WILL BE MY SECOND MRI EXPERIENCE IN 2 WEEKS FROM TODAY. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MY UPCOMING EXPERIENCE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND I WILL SHARE THE INFORMATION. HOPEFULLY NOTHING NEGATIVE WILL COME OUT OF MY NEXT MRI. TAKE CARE AND THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THE REST OF THE WORLD.

    If it’s not at least a 1.5T strength magnet it’s basically a gamble with your health. It’s not a strong enough magnet to really get the best results. I would not do a .3T open.
