What about lens hoods? Would love to know why nearly all variable ND manufacturers refuse to put a thread on the filter. I use Cokin because they do and it really does at times make a difference having a hood on, to the contrast. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
These filters do have threaded front elements. You can add a lightweight lens hood. Or there is always a system like the tilta mirage that combines a matte box with a VND.
Months late, but I noticed your video talk about shooting on iPhone too. What ISO settings do you use-base and max? I ask because I couldn't get any decent results with my shutter at 180 degrees and using a VND filter. The footage was noisy, with an X pattern visible, and too dark like in the 2:35 frame in your video. I know my VND is a cheaper K&F option, but any tips or insights would be helpful.
Absolutely. I’d honestly recommend my most recent video. I spend most of it breaking down this exact question and a couple other iPhone related issues. X pattern is unfortunately part of the game unless you have hard stops.

@@WRNFILM Yeah, I didn’t even know about the X pattern until I saw that my footage was trash.
Thanks!
Es bueno para comprarlo ?
