Thank you. You summed my own feelings nicely. It'll sell well for folks that want a street scrambler with a bit more of everything without losing what made the street scrambler so enjoyable.
I tested a 1200x after riding my current '22 1200 speed twin to the dealer through the cambridgeshire fenland A & B roads and came to the conclusion that the 1200x is a damned good fit for british roads as they are today and definately better than my beloved ST12 on the types of road I haunt most of the time.
I often wonder if there are still bits of the UK with roads that make sense for hypernakeds and sportsbikes.
The 1200x suspension seems 'bob on' for my 12.5 stone [175lb, 79Kg] ..plush but controlled so I can live without the gold hangers extra adjustments.
A bit of farm twin track at speeds that won't draw negative attention will be the limit of my offroad aspirations so losing ground clearance is no biggie.
The IMU cornering ABS & TC is a nice road orientated upgrade too [over the outgoing slightly more dirt focused XC] so I am expecting that with the addition of a legend gear pannier, it will make a decent go of two up 'day rides' with my missus. Mines on order...roll on balmy summer picnics 😊

    Agree.
I'm surprised Triumph don't do a version in the same vein as the original R80gs. The bike that arguably started it all.
    Small screen, panniers. Go.
Definitely needs a longer front mudguard. That radiator was covered in a muddy stripe!
But yes, it's a lovely bike.
    Ride safe 👍

Great video Tony. Sat on one at MCL and my 5,7" frame could easily own one in contrast to my friend's XE which makes me feel like a child on it.

A bought a Street Scrambler in 2020 and absolutely loved it, so much so that when it was stolen and written off I bought another without hesitation. I often thought though that a "perfect" SS for me would be a 1200 version. Then the 1200 X came along so I bought one and I'm dead chuffed with it. The XE/XC bikes were always a bit of a conundrum to me, high spec componentry with supposedly off road focus yet they're way too heavy for anything I would call off road work. I dunno, maybe I'm just spoilt with owning an Enduro bike so why would I buy a bike, setup for off road use, purely for on road riding? As far as the 1200 X goes, less braking and suspension bling maybe but they're more than up to the job. Seat height was never an issue for me, it's the look of the X that first drew my attention and so far I'm lovin' it!😃👍

I recently tested the X, but found the downgraded suspension was quite jarring on our potholed roads. I was also not impressed with the instrument panel that you liked and the colours available are boring to say the least. I didn't want the XE as it is too tall and I'll never go off-road, so I went for a low mileage second-hand XC instead. All of your points are valid, but so are all of mine; it would be boring if we all liked the same things!

I m torn between getting a bonneville T120 or a scrambler 1200x. I love the size of 1200x tank. What about the bonneville t120 tank? I m a big guy. Would I look like a circus clown if I pick the t120? I m also afraid that the exhaust of the 1200x would be too hot for me long term. BTW I live in Malaysia, a hot country. Pls advice. I do love the 1200x. The t120 would be my second choice. Thks.

It's good they've gone back to normal keys, but the X should have kept the Brembos, after all Marzocchi supply the suspension for the Tiger 900 and that has Stylema brakes.

The X has a different tune, with a little more power and torque than the T120

First when I entered in a local motorcycle shop, I saw this bike, and thought it was the XE (not knowing that there is an X and the XE with the upgraded suspensions). When I sat on it for the first time I was like "Waaaait a minute. This isn't as tall as I thought." Then I found out that there is another model with a seat height of 870 mm (holy moly). This model will definitely sell better than the XE. Heck, even I want one now.

@ruahinesrider I can't see that the stealth paint is available on the 1200x. Black is standard or Ash grey and carnival red, which are +£200. I personally think the grey is dull.

@@mancavemoto Yeah, I've got lots of highway to do before I get to the good stuff. I simply don't understand deleting it, and not even making it an option. I was interested in it because of the lower seat and I don't need the high-speed suspension. But not making cruise control available on the exact same motor just makes me look harder at the Scrambler 900. All the best!

      @phils2180 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@malikknows3510 I know what you're saying, it would have cost virtually nothing to include it, plus the 1200X is supposed to be more road focused so in that respect would benefit more from CC than the XE. It's not even an option so that doesn't make sense either but I think Triumph have excluded it to widen the gap between the X and the XE. I've never had CC on a bike so personally it doesn't bother me, it's certainly not a deal breaker but I was just wondering why the lack of it would make you look closer at a 900?

Nice review. I had an 1200XE that I sold within a few months, it was one of the first to arrive in Canada in the first year of production and based on the comments on my review, some agreed and some didn't (some were saying it was the BEST suspensions they've ever had and that it soaked up everything like it was nothing...) so I'm still not sure if it was a batch of XE that were like that (though when I called Triumphs' customer service for a BO part I asked out of curiosity if they had received complaints about the Xe's suspension and he was very transparent that they received quite a few calls about it), but in the over 150 bikes I tried, it had the worse suspensions I've ever experienced.
The ride from the dealer to my place was about an hour, and when I arrived I had back pain...(which I've never had before or since). I brought it to 2 suspension shops, had them resprung and revalved, but still wasn't by any means a comfortable ride on rough pavement. Many people are impressed by the Ohlins sticker, but the fact that this bike doesn't have Ohlins shocks would actually be a positive for me and would be curious to try this new X version. I had two 900 Scramblers that were 100 times more comfortable than the XE, I could ride 800km on them in a day, and ride the next day. On the XE 400km was a heck of a ride and the next day I wouldn't have gone on another 400km trip. Always been a fan of Triumph bikes, but the day I sold my XE was one of the best days of my life hehe I would buy another Scrambler, but I would never in my life do it again without trying it first (and in my area, you're lucky if dealers have 1 demo of any of their bikes) and since Covid it's been even worse, since they didn't have enough stock for the demand, they had even less incentive to let you try before you buy.
