I was wondering when you would start some Bushcraft in your woodland. I know it is not the primary or sole purpose of your purchase of the land, but it is such a part of what your channel is about that I knew it would be part of your woodland life. Thanks for taking us along.
As my Mother used to say, don't worry about the rain. You're neither sugar nor salt, you shan't melt.

I absolutely love that quote! Never heard it so thank you to you and your mother:). One I use a lot is “some people feel the rain, others just get wet- Bob Marley”
Feel I need to use it nearly everyday living in Scotland😂!

I'm glad you're finally getting a bushcraft camp started, your last one was the reason I subscribed to your channel. I watch everything that you do but the camp building videos are what it is all about. My brother has just purchased a bit of woodlands near me and has asked me to manage it for him. I am going to use so many of the skills that I have learned from you in the months and years to come! I am even considering filming my journey and putting it on youtube thanks to you.

@@wouldulikesomescons I have got a couple of go pro cameras and have started planning things so I am nearly ready to start filming. I am not so sure I could make it as interesting as TA does, he seems to very good at talking to the camera. The woodlands that I am gonna be managing is beautiful though, it has a stream and has a load of dears and other wildlife living there. I am so excited and have so many plans for it. I think if I can get the presenting part down, I could make a really good series. Watch this space!!

    • @gayahithwen
      @gayahithwen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@markjust86 TA is a former teacher, so he's actually studied how to present information to an audience in an interesting and engaging way. So yeah, he's really good at this, haha.
That being said, if you find presenting to camera a challenge, and something you want to get better at - one way to deal with that to some extent is if you can bring a friend/family member with you to film. Put them behind the camera, and then explain what you're doing to that person, rather than the abstract idea of your audience. Tell them to ask follow-up questions if you're being unclear. Easy to be a good host to someone you already like, you know? :-)

I don’t want to sound like a weird patriotic guy but you should try camping in the us’s Rocky Mountains. It is truly a wonderful experience. You could also do Canada, but it might be a little too cold. Also you don’t have to do that but different locations would be very cool.

Whenever I go camping I never seem to have enough time to put up even a fire reflector for example. The light always beats me by the time I gather wood, build a shelter (inc. when I bring tent) and make a fire. You are able to smash out a small camp before a hospital appointment, how you do it so quickly, and so well, baffles me!

There is a small chance that I may be able to do something similar in a friend's woodland in a year or so. I just love your pot hangers! I've been making a few of these to use as hangers around the garden. I would suggest a 3 sided lean to if you only plan to use it as a summer camp,, that you can build upon later when it gets cooler for winter. But only if the prevailing winds favor such a layout. Such a plan will give plenty of air flow while it is warm, shade, and modest protection from the wind. Give yourself a bit of an overhang in the front for rain, and elevate the back so you can use your home made bed. And add a wood storage bin to the side.

Little tip for you with the Aeropress - Put the plunger in about 1cm, turn it upside down and add the coffee and water, screw the top on and let it brew then put the cup on (upside down) and flip it. You get all the water in the brew rather than it dripping out. Great video as always.

  • @PaleGhost69

  • @Cassiterit3

I don't know if it would be more work, but could you roof the two sides separately, with a space right down the middle for the fire and the ash stump? Rather than covering it. That way it can grow all sorts of lovely things on it through the summer.

  • @SoldierDemps

With the rain falling and running off your Tarp, why not think about making a water collector. You might be able to make something useful like an organic garden with irrigation from rain water.

    As always, another relaxing video.
If you don't already own one, you should definitely consider purchasing a hookaroon. You will not regret it.
A cheap hand tool that will help you in so many ways and certainly prevent back and shoulder strain.
    I recommend the long-handle version.
Ryan will know where to buy one.

I love how tiny the dog is, makes me really want to take my Pomeranian camping and see how he likes it.

I take it this is your own private woodland, very lucky to have this.

For the roof it would be cool if it was like a milsurp cargo parachute canopy type roof the are pretty rugged and waterproof and not too expensive
