    Shouldn't the heater tap be switched on during the flushing period to remove all of the old coolant?

  • @user-uc5bf8rr8k
    @user-uc5bf8rr8k 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    The cooling system can only be flushed with distilled / deionized water. tap water contains salts and alkalis!

    Hey mate, I'm not sure where the heater hose is of my hilux 99 but I remember flushing before straight through the radiator cap. I guess that's the same thing?

    • @driftcarsjp
      @driftcarsjp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You want to remove a heater hose so the whole system gets flushed.

    Does the coolant level need to be on the B line? Or if its between the other two lines its fine?

    Hi mate correct me it's slow bleed sucking in coolant the car doesn't over heat?

    • @driftcarsjp
      @driftcarsjp  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can bleed for about 20mins before the car will get too hot. As it's not under load it won't overheat.

    You only got half the coolant out? If it’s worth doing it’s worth doing right.
    Firstly the heater should have been on Hot before you flushed.
    There’s a drain bung on the block to drain the most of the remaining coolant.
    There’s also a 3/8 bleed screw on the top of the radiator that will allow you to fill most of the system from the beginning.
    Kind of a waste buying 12lts of coolant and only using half..?

    • @driftcarsjp
      @driftcarsjp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      This is done as a dealer would do it. No dealer mechanics drain the block. This is to help a diy-er change there coolant without making it difficult for them..
      Thanks for watching...

    • @charlied3732
      @charlied3732 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd love to know how the hell you get that block drain bung out without taking a heap of parts off the suspension or from the side of the engine. I assume dealers use a similar method to this. I was also considering this method but include a couple of run and circulate cycles also, to keep diluting and draining out the old coolant.

    • @malcolmyoungacdc
      @malcolmyoungacdc 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@driftcarsjp doubt very much there are many Toyota dealerships that don't have a coolant exchange machine. No point doing it this way if you end up with 6 liters of tap water in the system = 1930's style corrosion! True.

  • @Mac-bn
    @Mac-bn 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Nice content and easy to follow. I have seen others doing a different way. First they fill the white bottle with coolant and also next to the small hose if you look at the number 45382 on top there is a square and they unscrew it and with a small funnel they fill up there till it reaches the top. Start engine and continue filling it till it overflow and close it. What is your opinon on that? Thanks.. Watch this video th-cam.com/video/T8OZzFD_XBA/w-d-xo.html
