I see them fairy often. I think one was getting on the freeway with me. It looked like absolute crap though. It was wearing a screwed up body kit and it was all primered. Also, it was not doing 0-60 in the 6's anymore.. The driver was revving the absolute shit out of it apparently trying to pass me..LOL
The 2000's were pretty good too. TL's still offered in stick, the TSX was BULLETPROOF, the RSX Type-S introducing us to the K engines, and the 8th Gen Si taking the reigns from there. Honda is a great company that has barely lost a step, people just get stuck in the past

6.4 seconds 0-60mph in a 1994 4 cyl sedan is VERY IMPRESSIVE! But, more is the 14.9 1/4! A friend of mine had one of these back when they were new. It was quick. There are turbo cars these days that don't match these numbers!
hey still throw out a gem here and there. I got hold of a 2013 Crz 6MT when someone stole my 95 Civic ex 2 years ago. Nobody has heard of it, but it is SO much fun to drive. It was a last minute discovery when I had been looking at the new civics or taking my mom's 95 Integra GS-R coupe - If it wasn't Milano Red, it would have been the best option, but I can't see myself in a red car. Just not my thing. The Crz saved me from being commonplace and let my mom keep her integra. She ended up getting a Fit, which she looked at when I might have been taking her car, but she drives the Integra because it's more fun. She's 75. I had to fight her over who got to keep the Crz. It's SO fun to be in it, I actually sit in my driveway when I come home for another 20 minutes or more, just because I hate getting out of that car. I love it.
carl basbas I mean they were sold until 2002, then the RsX was put into production, which literally was just a redesigned and renamed integra. But I get what you mean, even the early year models are still on the road lol.
yeah cause 90s Japanese cars were built with tons of R&D into them but in the case of the Integra, were simple enough to work on them easily if things actually went wrong. I cant say the same for the tech laden cars to day
LOL! 14.9 is what my bone stock 89 Mustang 5.0 GT ran in the 1/4. These cars were fast for what they were. Pretty cool they put in projector headlights back in 94. They sure don't build them like this anymore that's for sure.
That was/is the greatest thing about Honda's VTEC cars. Pussy foot them and you could easily score 30+ mpg.... Hit that VTEC crossover and it was truly like driving a different car. The ultimate Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde cars. Whereas my Civic Si is much more "docile" in terms of it's VTEC crossover, it still really is like having two different cars.
Side note, if I saw someone wearing the same gloves as the guy in the video I would swear he was gonna kill someone. I wanted this as my first car so bad when I first started driving.
Whoever did the Pontiac ads in the 80's/90's had a fetish for the leather jacket and gloves look. Especially when combined with neon splash paint lettering.
Those are absolutely extraordinary numbers for a car produced over 20 years ago. Only now have small cars finally caught up in terms of power, but no compact today drives quite like an old Integra. Wish mine was a GS-R. Anyone selling their DB8 rn? lol

they were too good, thus word got round, and now everyone wants one, and hence it is now the everydayman's compact car... and therefore boring, much like the Corollas from Toyota were back when I bought a 5 speed 95 civic ex coupe brand new. Some jerk stole it off the mechanic just 2 years ago when I brought it in to get a tune up to drive from los angeles to the bay area... they found it about a week later, gutted - the entire (manual) transmission was gone. It was an excellent car for 20+ years, never failed to start, never leaked a drop of oil even after getting nearly totaled in an accident. I had full coverage, so I had them rebuild it and put a trunk spoiler on the back. Loved that car, and she did NOT deserve to go out like that, just a shell in a tow yard =( Never forgave my mechanic for that. I was disappointed with the newer breed of civic, though, as they are bigger and more like the accord of the 5th gen era. And they are UBIQUITOUS, literally one or more in every direction you look. The one I had before was not nearly as common, and suited me perfectly in style and drive and everything. Replacing it was heartbreaking, but I did find a treasure that helped me heal in the 2013 Cr-z that nobody has heard of, even some of the dealerships! It's got the same power as my old Civic Ex which makes it very comfy and familiar. Plus it's adorable and stylish and one of the only cars I could find that still had a manual transmission - and the only HYBRID with that option. If I had not found that car, I would have adopted my mom's integra gs-r coupe instead, and she would have gotten a new car, but I didn't like the idea of driving something that sporty in milano red. Just a ticket waiting to happen, in my mind... But so true about the charm thing. Civics today are so commonplace. Even though they are more powerful cars than my Cr-z, I like having one that not everyone else is driving. A car is a personal choice -what you choose to drive says a little about who you are. I noticed that people actually slow down when driving past my Crz to get a good look at it - so much so that I that thought at first people might have been casing the house to rob until I realized that it was the Z out front they were actually looking at. I had a 1996 GSR British racing green, one of the best cars I have ever owned. It was great to drive and very comfortable. It was the golden age of Japanese cars 1990's
The funny thing is BMW/Toyota/Mazda are now producing high compression, high revving naturally aspirated engines again because they so efficient fuel and performance wise. We have literally gone full circle in engineering terms!
David C you’re so right. Didn’t think of those cars. But they don’t seem to have quite the cachet as the vtecs of the early 90s. These engines really revved almost like a motorcycle.
I test drove one of these with a built N/A motor about 15 year's ago. Probably had around 200 to 220 ponies to the wheel's. Even with 3 heavy guy's in the car it lit the front tires up when I snatched 3rd gear at full throttle around 8500 rpm's. Honda had amazing four bangers back then. I regret not buying that car. It sure was a blast to drive.
Love these retro reviews! 94 GSR was my first “new” car bought at my first “real” job out of school… blast today drive and my first track car. Put 170k mikes on it with zero issues. Excellent quality build and so fun to drive with that tight 5 speed. Just bought a Type R with the same DNA and track/daily driver versatility. Thank you Honda for keeping that spirit alive…
I had a 94 GSR sedan in white. Miss it every day. I remember all I ever did was change the tires and rear speakers on that car. I whooped on it for three years and all it ever needed was oil changes. Miss it all the time, one of my favorite cars of all time. Did yeomans duty on the NYC to Buffalo trips back and forth. Once in a blizzard so cold the wipers froze to the windshield and I had to hold a jug of fluid out the window. Topped out at 135 on the queens highway in Ontario. Somehow never got pulled over in this car once.
Around the time of the 3.5RL they decided to become Japanese Mercedes. Not a bad thing to offer, but they overemphasized luxury comfort and not enough fun road car.
my old neighbor had one of these with a 1-inch drop, an exhaust, and a nice deck, so basically stock. had that perfect balance of sportiness and simplicity! Something not many new cars have today.
I had a white 94 GS-R 4 door from 1997 to 2000. Loved that car. Engine just ripped and revved. Handled beautifully due to the double wishbone suspension. VTec and a Comptech header really cleared the lungs. Miss that car to this day.

The TLX is NOT the Integra replacement. The replacement for the Integra was the RSX DC5 (still called Integra in Japan), then the CSX (in Canada, which was a differently-styled Civic that Japan adopted as the JDM Civic), and currently the ILX.
This is my exact car, down to the Isle Green Pearl paint, beige cloth interior, and fat spoke 15" wheels. Bought bone stock from its original owner with 205k miles and a stack of maintenance records here in Houston about a year ago. Runs like a new car.
Does yours burn oil? I just bought one that looks just like this except it has snowflake wheels, But it burns oil and is currently running on 3 cylinders. Picked it up for $1500 so I thought it was a fair deal. I do plan on fixing it up. Car has 260k miles and is also a 94’.
@@Bseriesforthewin actually it does, quite a bit. I think it is the rings unfortunately. You might want to try replacing the pcv valve. Cheap and can cause oil burning
@@verdict1163 I figured it out, someone put a garbage Bosch spark plug in place of a spark plug that was fouled up by oil. I put NGK R spark plugs in and it fired right up. So glad it was simple.
I bought one of these new and it was the best car I've ever owned. So much fun, solid mileage, a smooth shifting 5 speed, and roomy enough for 4 normal size folks.
I have a '95 GSR coupe with 107k miles on the clock. The clear coat failed so I wrapped it in 3M gloss black metallic instead of repainting in Granada Black Pearl for 1/5th the price.
Rarely saw one of these in 4 door guise. But there were a couple around my town. I had a 95 Prelude VTEC at the time (still own a 94 Si), and always preferred the Prelude myself, but if I were to choose another, I always wanted one of these 4 door GSRs, possibly with an R swap and R Spoiler. Always thought that would've been a cool, unique car. Honda is still great, went thru a few years of mediocrity after this in the mid 2ks, but man I miss this era. Turbos are stupid fun, but there's just something about these old screamer VTEC models. Cheers!

@Sandy Lee I think you the only one that hated GSR. I have 2000 GSR coupe that gets 27 mpg. I dont mind the noise since that how it was meant to be sound not the synthetic noise you have in today turbo. People always asked me if I want to sell it.
This car had to be underrated,With only 170hp from the factory there is no way it would post a 97 MPH quarter mile.I get the feeling that they already put the 190-195 HP type r engine in and didn't tell us.

I had a 92 and 96 RS. Loved them both! It's true I wasn't sure about the look back then, but it grew on me! By the way , I love those old school driving gloves when he was shifting lol!
This would be a dream daily driver for me, I love 90's to early 2000's Japanese sedans. This is definitely one of the coolest out there, I think I prefer it over the coupe. I saw one for sale once but I forget why I didn't look at it, either it was far away or I had already bought a car by then and was looking for fun. Either way if I need to replace my 2001 Maxima one day and found a nice one of these, you bet I'd buy it!
Best car for a teen or young adult. Could haul a ton of stuff or just cruise. Dead simple to work on and always fun to drive. Miss mine a little every day!
Good lord. People are talking as Honda’s lost its soul. Honda has brought us the Type R, and has a great new Accord and Civic (though I dislike the CVT). Acura lost its way for a couple years but hell, the new RDX is amazing, the Type S is coming back, and we have a NSX!
yes but its not the way many would have wanted it tbh Honda isnt going to invest in high revving NA VTEC engines anymore, as they are focused on making efficient turbo engines to comply with ever stringent regulations as the rest of the competition is doing and Acura doesnt have any cars with a manual (though Im hyped for the RDX and TLX type S, and the return of the Legend this year too) that being said, id love to have the new CTR or even a manual Accord 2.0t
These were a RIOT to drive if you bought one with the manual. That rush of power all in the top of the rev range, the sound, an uncanny smoothness for a 4 cylinder, Honda made THE BEST 4 cylinder engines in the industry during the 80's/90's/00's IMO. Not even mentioning the chassis/suspension was pretty great stuff for its time, even in base Civic trim you still got the special Honda sauce.
My girlfriend was given a new 2 door integra as gift in 94 when she turned 16. Few months back she hit a deer and the car was totaled. Now she drives a 2019 BMW X6M and wishes it was an integra lol
here in Miami entegra owners were told to leave one of their back doors unlocked so that thieves could just get in and out without having to break windows. it's not uncommon if you come across one of these Acura integra's that are still on the road to check the Carfax history report and see that it had been reported stolen at least once maybe twice in its life LOL

This car was ahead of it's time during the 90s. Specially the specs for this car.

The Integra was sold in the USA as an Acura RSX. So we did get one, for marketing reasons it was renamed.
I was driven around in the backseat of a 4 door ls as a kid, we STILL have the car and now I drive it.
Why would they bring it back when we all know that if they did it would now be the size of a dam speedboat 🚤 ?
My first car was a 1994 Integra LS. Got it for $700 with 190K miles. A few years and 75K+ miles later, sold it for $500 lol.

my old neighbor had one of these with a 1-inch drop, an exhaust, and a nice deck, so basically stock. had that perfect balance of sportiness and simplicity! Something not many new cars have today.
This car helped define an era with such simplicity.
Back when Hondas were absolutely brilliant.
Back then sports cars didn't have to look intimidating or ridiculous to roll heads, they were just elegant and modest looking.

I had an Integra Coupe in the green color. Beautiful car!
I had a white 94 GS-R 4 door from 1997 to 2000. Loved that car. Engine just ripped and revved. Handled beautifully due to the double wishbone suspension. VTec and a Comptech header really cleared the lungs. Miss that car to this day.

The TLX is NOT the Integra replacement. The replacement for the Integra was the RSX DC5 (still called Integra in Japan), then the CSX (in Canada, which was a differently-styled Civic that Japan adopted as the JDM Civic), and currently the ILX.

This is my exact car, down to the Isle Green Pearl paint, beige cloth interior, and fat spoke 15" wheels. Bought bone stock from its original owner with 205k miles and a stack of maintenance records here in Houston about a year ago. Runs like a new car.
Does yours burn oil? I just bought one that looks just like this except it has snowflake wheels, But it burns oil and is currently running on 3 cylinders. Picked it up for $1500 so I thought it was a fair deal. I do plan on fixing it up. Car has 260k miles and is also a 94’.
@@Bseriesforthewin actually it does, quite a bit. I think it is the rings unfortunately. You might want to try replacing the pcv valve. Cheap and can cause oil burning

@@verdict1163 I figured it out, someone put a garbage Bosch spark plug in place of a spark plug that was fouled up by oil. I put NGK R spark plugs in and it fired right up. So glad it was simple.
I bought one of these new and it was the best car I've ever owned. So much fun, solid mileage, a smooth shifting 5 speed, and roomy enough for 4 normal size folks.
I loved my ‘94 GS-R. It was Jackson Racing supercharged and was a rocket! Miss it so much!

I have a '95 GSR coupe with 107k miles on the clock. The clear coat failed so I wrapped it in 3M gloss black metallic instead of repainting in Granada Black Pearl for 1/5th the price.

Rarely saw one of these in 4 door guise. But there were a couple around my town. I had a 95 Prelude VTEC at the time (still own a 94 Si), and always preferred the Prelude myself, but if I were to choose another, I always wanted one of these 4 door GSRs, possibly with an R swap and R Spoiler. Always thought that would've been a cool, unique car. Honda is still great, went thru a few years of mediocrity after this in the mid 2ks, but man I miss this era. Turbos are stupid fun, but there's just something about these old screamer VTEC models. Cheers!

Honda's engines were the pinnacle then. Also, they were tuned for high-end power and not lower-end torque like your Elantra likely is.
Ok, and your Elantra is tuned as a commuter. Hyundai could get more than 200hp out of it if they wanted. What a silly comment. On top of that, power ratings changed in 2007.
You can run on regular gas, this thing needs high octane :)

@Sandy Lee I think you the only one that hated GSR. I have 2000 GSR coupe that gets 27 mpg. I dont mind the noise since that how it was meant to be sound not the synthetic noise you have in today turbo. People always asked me if I want to sell it.

This car had to be underrated,With only 170hp from the factory there is no way it would post a 97 MPH quarter mile.I get the feeling that they already put the 190-195 HP type r engine in and didn't tell us.

I had a 92 and 96 RS. Loved them both! It's true I wasn't sure about the look back then, but it grew on me! By the way , I love those old school driving gloves when he was shifting lol!

Had a 2001 gsr coupe in black. Last model year for the DC2. Biggest regret selling that little car..was an absolute blast to drive.

14.9 second 1/4 mile time was really good for the early 90’s. That would run, if not beat the Mustang GT’s and Z28’s of the time. Very nice.
This would be a dream daily driver for me, I love 90's to early 2000's Japanese sedans. This is definitely one of the coolest out there, I think I prefer it over the coupe. I saw one for sale once but I forget why I didn't look at it, either it was far away or I had already bought a car by then and was looking for fun. Either way if I need to replace my 2001 Maxima one day and found a nice one of these, you bet I'd buy it!

Good lord. People are talking as Honda’s lost its soul. Honda has brought us the Type R, and has a great new Accord and Civic (though I dislike the CVT). Acura lost its way for a couple years but hell, the new RDX is amazing, the Type S is coming back, and we have a NSX!

Honda isnt going to invest in high revving NA VTEC engines anymore, as they are focused on making efficient turbo engines to comply with ever stringent regulations as the rest of the competition is doing
and Acura doesnt have any cars with a manual (though Im hyped for the RDX and TLX type S, and the return of the Legend this year too)
that being said, id love to have the new CTR or even a manual Accord 2.0t

These were a RIOT to drive if you bought one with the manual. That rush of power all in the top of the rev range, the sound, an uncanny smoothness for a 4 cylinder, Honda made THE BEST 4 cylinder engines in the industry during the 80's/90's/00's IMO. Not even mentioning the chassis/suspension was pretty great stuff for its time, even in base Civic trim you still got the special Honda sauce.
I loved owning this car. Very fun and very reliable.
My girlfriend was given a new 2 door integra as gift in 94 when she turned 16. Few months back she hit a deer and the car was totaled. Now she drives a 2019 BMW X6M and wishes it was an integra lol

here in Miami entegra owners were told to leave one of their back doors unlocked so that thieves could just get in and out without having to break windows. it's not uncommon if you come across one of these Acura integra's that are still on the road to check the Carfax history report and see that it had been reported stolen at least once maybe twice in its life LOL
I'm not surprise. The first month I own this car. It got broken into , the only reason why the thief didn't take it because it was manual.
