I don't think they know how successful it would be if they had good writing, I'd watch it instantly and enthusiastically
as a queer fan i really love how you notice the steps mickey's taking to accepting himself, even if there's outside pressure (like when he was asked if he and ian were together) or when you cheered in the gay club kiss scene - that scene always makes me emotional

i don’t think mickey felt forced to kiss him or say they were together, he just read the room in both situations & knew it was a safer environment where he felt he could be more open & no one would judge him or give af

this part always confused me because in season one Mickey and his brothers were so quick to go and beat up Ian because Madi said Ian miss treated her
but in this episode where Mickey saw the bruises it confused me that they didn’t do anything about it until I saw a deleted scene where Mandy stopped a Mickey from going after the guy
and then later on there’s another deleted scene where her boyfriends is about to hit her and Mickey grabs a bottle ready to fight for Mandy
I think (and yes it's a weak excuse but the shameless writers are not consistent) is because Mandy didn't tell them to do that. She told them a lie about Ian but never told them anything about this man.
I was always a little confused about Carl especially when it gets into the later seasons. But when you combine the early years with where he ends up, it’s pretty obvious that he’s was acting out for attention but also playing the part of whatever father figure was in his immediate view. For the early years I think he was emulating a combo of Frank and lip. The scamming and using of people like Frank and the tough guy thing from lip.
And so starts Carl’s love life lol
idk im more on mickeys side. or at least i understand completely why hes not wanting to be around svet. he was technically raped because he's gay, forced to marry her and be a dad to a kid that is from his rape. he's more the victim than anyone in that situation imo.
let’s not forget though, svetlana was a victim and was r’ped aswell in that situation. both of them are not wrong at all
Mickey has way more choice than Svetlana in all of this. Terry is the Devil in all this and I’m sure Mickeys fear spawns from him. But Mickey has the freedom to leave, kick Terrys ass, even just shoot the guy, get him thrown in jail, a bunch of things really.
Svetlana on the other hand has no choice whatsoever. And the baby makes that more a reality. No one looks at her as a person at all. She’s just a whore and even just saying that makes me mad.
This is at least my best guess coming from my experience. They both are in such a shitty shitty spot and it’s not really worth to compare in the end.
@@7DeadlyBananas true. i def agree with you. i think my comment was more towards the people who have an expectation that mickey should raise the baby and really be around and put that effort in. i think he has every right to drift off somewhere else and not be around. and i wish she had the same chance to do that.
@@7DeadlyBananasI wouldn’t say Mickey has choice, the way you put it at all. Being physically able to do something isn’t the same as having mental freedom to make that choice. Physically, Svetlana could have killed her own baby, but you wouldn’t exactly count that as a true choice, would you?

As a queer person forced to be in closet because of my circumstances, me and Mikey are like two opposites of the same coin. His storyline and character growth hits home. I absolutely love the the actor who plays him as well, he’s doing such an amazing job.
34:45 this is so interesting, i knew what was going on with Ian from the start, but seeing the confusion and questioning here really puts a lot of characters reactions into perspective

It just makes me mad when people who were born yuppies with a silver spoon judge people who are born into the system and get caught up in it. Everyone is responsible for their own choices, but a yuppie is gonna have a much easier time of being a good person than someone born addicted to drugs who grows up surrounded by them. People in the system deserve respect, empathy and rehabilitation. Instead, the system does everything it can to keep people down. Thank god someone gave me a break or I 100% would have died from meth or oxy. All it takes it 1 person.
You'll find out what's up with Ian, it's a great storyline.
(This isn't a diss at you danny, you ar esurprisingly understanding of svetlana which is rare and very awesome!!) I find it interesting how when Mickey was saying terrible things to svetlana and she was being called a whore and insulted and treated as just a sex worker, no one was saying anything because it was "funny", but when she retaliates then fans are up in arms about how rude she is...? And the child is a product of rape on both sides, she had no choice in that situation, and we know it was Terry's idea for marriage not her's, so if Mickey feels sick looking at the child how do you think Svetlana must feel, she's an immigrant she can't even find a legal way to provide for that child, she just gave birth and she's already selling herself again. She was sold into prostitution by her father, no doubt was beat by her pimps, now she has to have this kid with a man who hates her in a house where her voice doesn't matter. Mickey's allowed to be upset but she definitely is too, the ONLY villain here is Terry.
I’m coming from a place a little closer to what all these folks are going through. The situation is shitty all the way around, and Terry is absolutely most definitely the true evil one in all of this.

@@a.1184 did we watch the same show? The only way it was reactionary was reacting to his absence. He was ‘hostile’ before, though not nearly to the point of threats, because one, that’s just how he, and everyone is, growing up on the south side, and two, because she’s a major source of trauma for him (and yes, I know that goes both ways, though she is more used to it, so that one moment didn’t stick out as much for her.) And of course Mickey’s threat was in response to hers. If she had told, Ian and Mickey would likely both have been killed by Terry. How else could he respond to the threat of getting him killed other than throwing it back at her?

Fun fact: Isabelle Fuhrman worked out with her personal trainer at the gym I worked at in downtown Santa Monica. I did front desk and I used to see her twice a week, when she came in for her training appointments. She looked just like she did in this movie and she wasn’t self centered; which, was nice to experience. I worked at that gym from 2017-2019. 😊

@@jj60879 the hair is nothing like Mickey, true. But compare their faces, their features. Svetlana could be originally blonde, babies can also be born blonde and later, as they grow up, their hair could darken. The baby actor in season 6 is like Noel's twin.
I don't blame Mike's sister for being protective. All she sees is that Fiona wrecked her brother. And She hurt the family they invited her into their home, and she fucked his brother. So, I can see why she's angry and yelled at Fiona to go away.
And Season 4 will always go down as one of best seasons of Shameless in my opinion. It really broke free of the similar formula of Seasons 1-3 and really amped up the drama and making for a darker season. Ranging from Fiona becoming careless with Liam and the coke, and being in jail, Lip away at college and trying to support the family amidst Fiona’s struggles, Ian and his BPD etc. It all just made for an excellent season and I can’t express than enough

Debby needed a parental figure ASAP, but we all know she's not going to get it. And sadly, I still know what's to come and why she did it. I pretty much understand what's going on through her head. Her teenage mind and body right now is about to embark on a huge journey and hormone are a bitch to deal with, I remember that much being a teenager, now I never slept with anyone until I was 18 but I remember those feelings and the desires and how easily it is to give into them.

I think Lip is just disappointed he's expect that behavior from Frank and Monic but not his sister, and for once he feels he had to step up and take charge and right now I don't think he trust her right now with Liam and because he almost died, Lip is taking it seriously and he is being protective. Fiona is being very reckless and not paying attention. She got drunk and nearly burn the house down. I don't know, I lost faith in Fiona.

They are both victims in this but Svetlana is practically a slave to all this. She can’t leave, she has no choices, she has practically nothing.
she is just as much of a victim as mickey is. she was sex trafficked to a country she’s never been to away from everything she’s ever known with no support, no resources and no options. her ONLY hope of having any stability is mickey. she obviously feels bad about what happened but for her, this is just what life is like and life must go on.
