I don't think the problem with Georgia joining is that they don't have borders with the EU.

@@dhfconst Well the thing is that the memberships of Romania and Bulgaria were rushed because not having a land connection with Greece was a major economic hurdle for both Greece and the EU, as well as basically rending null some of the key aspects of the EU's Maastricht Accords, freedom of circulation for instance. The presence of Romania and Bulgaria in the EU still poses problems today; although to be fair they both got better now than what they were in 2007. But still EU officials do not want a repeat.

I'm from Moldova, and most people support EU accession. I don't know where you got the 38% from, it's more around 65%.
Also, EU officials have repeatedly said that Moldova can join without solving the Transnistrian issue.
If you followed actual EU discussions about Moldova and Ukraine, you'd know that Moldova has much more support than Ukraine from member states.
There's also no way Serbia has more chance of joining than Moldova, knowing how eurosceptic they are.
I was excited when I saw this video, but really disappointed by such a wrong appreciation of Moldova.
The main problem is not the wrong and extremely outdated data, but that it supports Russian propaganda in Moldova. Russian forces are trying to convince some segments of society that "the people don't want EU integration because the EU is scary, only the government does" which is a blatant lie.
Would be really useful if you could upload an edited version with the right data and review of Moldova.

Regarding Turkey, I felt like the actual reason(not talking about the process) was EU not wanting it. I think from EU point of view Turkey would immediately become a big player in the EU: Turkey has the 2nd largest army in NATO, so it will become the largest in the EU, the GDP is in top 20 in the World, so in EU it would stand #6 below Netherlands and above Poland, would be the largest by area in the EU(if we don't count Greenland), but the most of all - the largest population in the EU(which will raise Muslim population 4 times in the EU) and also the long border with the countries in the Middle East.
Regarding the official process, in the video it's stated that Montenegro will become part of EU by 2028, so it's possible to close all 30+ chapters in the negotiation phase in 4 years, if both parties want it. So I wouldn't thin that the closing all the 35 chapters in negotiation phase was the real blocker.

Same, if european union would have wanted an ally it would and it could act in favor of Turkey's development in areas such as defending the country's sovereignity. Turkey never wanted to buy the s400 or never wanted to develop their ties with russia/china/iran etc, instead was left alone in most cases by those who claim to be its allies. However, Turkish youth is way more secular than their parent and the religious influence is going down day by day if you take a closer look at the metropolitan regions of the country which includes more or less half of the total population. Europe will eventually need younger/more dinamic population in the coming decades, and Turkey could theoretically enter the union in the coming century if the union still exists then. However the current instability in the country blocks it from the entrance. In my opinion, there will be a huge swift in the public opinion in the coming decades when the current government loses its power and the new government with the secular ideology will estabish in the coming 5 years. Then the negotiations will reopen. If the EU was sincere on taking the country into the Union, they also should help their ally to get a Win-Win Deal out of the situation. They need to have Turkey on their sides because they wouldnt prefer it to be on the enemy's lanes. So they will eventually come to terms with making good deals with Turkey, instead of supporting any terrorist organizations that wants to instabilize the country furthermore.

@@ikramyagdran4492 Well, what you've said is too optimistic in my opinion. First of all, while it is true that Türkiye indeed has a younger generation and a higher birth rate compared to EU countries, in the last decade it has decreased rapidly. Now, even though the statistics seem to remain unaffected, it is highly likely a result of the refugees' birth rate, which most of them have gained Turkish residency.
While you are right about Europe needs Türkiye, we need EU more than they need us. Especially economically, since our imports depend on European countries, with an astonishing rate of 50%, while their trade with us is only 2%.
Even though I said I am against joining them, it doesn't mean that I am against building up relationships with them. Yes, they clearly want to sabotage us with baseless claims, and in my opinion it will not change any sooner, but it is far more beneficial for us to get closer to them instead of waiting for them to begging us to join them, which is hardly likely to happen.

I don't think any country will be allowed to join until there are reforms done to the EU it's self, especially on its veto rules.
But as for who could join, Ukraine is likely the least likely country to join any time soon because of the current war but also because of it's size, there are also a lot of work and reforms that will be needed in Ukraine before they are ready to join, but because of the war, it could actually speed up the process by having less opposition from the public and politicians, which could speed up the process of doing the reforms needed to join the EU sooner rather than later, but there are zero chance of that happening whiles the war is going on and until the reforms are done to the EU, which I think need to be done before 2030, so for me, Ukraine is a bit of an unknown, the war doesn't allow them to join, but the war has also made the people and political parties very pro EU, that could do wonders when it comes to doing the reforms needed to join the EU, in other words, say the war was to end today in Ukraine, the country might have far less of an issue implementing the reforms needed to join the EU, so that could speed up the process a lot compared to many other countries that drag there feet on reforms.
As for the rest of the countries that want to join, it's really up to them, the sooner they do the reforms needed, reduce corruption, stabilise the political and economic system, the sooner these countries can join, if they meet all the conditions needed to join, it will put pressure on the EU and it's members to reform the EU sooner rather than later.
In any case, the more of these countries that join the EU, the better for the EU and for the country in question over the long run, it will help to create political and economic stability, as well as economic growth, it will help to reduce the risk of Russia and their political games of meddling, but most importantly, the EU will in time help to develop these countries into rich countries, that's a powerful message the EU has that Russia can't counter because they can't even develop their own country into being a rich-developed country, and they can't afford to splash the cash on these countries to keep them onside whereas the EU is a lot richer and can afford to do so, not to mention all the other incentives on why countries would rather be in the EU then to side with Russia which uses countries like pawns for their own ends.
So, get a move on EU, you've got till 2028 to reform the EU lol.

a successful ukraine would make russians way more aware of their dire political situation and demand changes and that would take power from current ruling oligarchs.
russians and ukranians have extended families within both, ukranians speak russian, the country is big enough and close enough, and so on.

Oh also, Turkey has a ethic seperation in itself too, there are Kurds, Zaza's and other ethnicities that refuse to accept Turkey's common way of living, and government does nothing about it. These are the reasons why Turkey will never get in EU, even if they wanted to. As a Turkish citizen I would absolutely love the benefits EU provides and all the rights i would've had. I guess we are people of two different worlds.

As a secular and western values bounded Türkish 🇹🇷 girl, I don’t want my country to join EU.
If it were up to me, I would withdraw the application right away.
I’m fed up with EU’s insincerity, hypocrisy and double standard towards Türkiye. It’s not about criteria at all. There are a lot of member countries which are miserable both financially and politically. However because they are Christian and culturally European, EU took them no matter what. So criteria are BS 😂.
EU had no intention of making Türkiye a full member right from the start. First of all, majority of Türkiye is Muslim and even if they don’t say it out loud, EU is a Christian Union. Second reason is Türkiye is a huge country with 85 million people. EU would not want a member bigger than Germany. Third reason, they can’t influence Türkiye in any way as they do with other tiny countries 😂. So why did they accept our application in the first place? Because they don’t want us inside of EU but they don’t want us too far either.
We 🇹🇷 deserve better, we have so much value, power and an impeccable geographical location. I’m sure there are a lot of powerful countries who would appreciate that. We should take our leave from this disfunctional membership asap.

Interesting but at least for the moment, it should be irrelevant because the eu itself needs urgent structural reform first. Even if all those countries did everything the eu application process demanded, once a country is in the eu, there is no current mechanism to ensure it doesn’t backtrack and the few levers the eu does possess have been shown to be inadequate due to basic blackmail from the unanimity requirement.
Secondly, and this is going to sound so heartless, but all current candidate countries will be net recipients, so are the current members ok with the pool of funds being significantly less than what they currently get and a few of the current eastern members will have a new relationship with the eu as members paying in, not out for the first time.
Being the the eu shouldn’t just being about gaining the most money as a country can from the older wealthier members, but still, it’s a new type of eu if it truly grows to encompass many of these countries (i personally think Türkiye membership is dead in the water at this point). The EU is totally unrecognizable today compared to what it was at the beginning of the century- whether that is a good thing or not is a loaded question.

3:44 How "common border with any EU nation" is defined? I may say you can go from Georgia to Romania without entering to any other country's territory. Just like any island nation of the EU.
If you make a case that island nations' maritime boundaries border another EU maritime border, then look at Iceland.
If the territorial occupation is a problem, look at Cyprus.
So I would treat Gerogia as a partially occupied island, in that sense it's more like Cyprus, also with a geographic location, if anyone would say that Georgia is not Europe.

The longer the war in Ukraine continues, the more their candidacy will be boosted, so they would indeed likely be higher on the list, I would expect ahead of Serbia. Moldova is in the same accession group as Ukraine, but I would put it ahead because they get Ukraine's boost, but without the war, and they have very heavy support from Romania. It also wouldn't be the first time an incomplete country joined (Cyprus, and even West-Germany, if you want to count that). Bosnia, Serbia, and Kosovo are also a group, so they should be next to each other, with Bosnia up front because their issue is the least significant and Serbia last because they're also hostile to the EU.
Imo the ranking would be: Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Moldova, Ukraine, Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia, Georgia, Turkey.

And Ukraine likely to stuck with the Turkey in this list as Ukraine isn't manageable at all, will have long years of territorial negotiations and overall is burned out in terms of everything.
BiH is actually two countries in one, and Republika Srpska shares the views with Serbia in everything and tries to join Serbia in every newspaper. BiH can't join the EU without Serbia. Montenegro is also a Serbian backyard, with almost all financial resources bound to Serbia.
Albania has low chances of joining the EU, like Turkey, as they are a completely Islamic country supporting Kosovo's separatists. The conflict between Kosovo and Serbia is an occupation conflict and an example of double standards when Albanians took the historical heart of Serbia, but that's not like this for Abkhazia, Pridnestrovye, N. Osetia and other "Russia-occupied". Anyway, Kosovo is just a handle for Serbia.

They don't want Turkiye in the EU, but they need Turkiye in NATO, not just because of its military power but also its geographical location. Turkiye is also a muslim country, which could be a factor. Since the start of the Ukraine war, Turkiye has increased its power and influence. I believe they are the only country in NATO that has good relationships with Russia. Recently, Turkiye has announced its interest in joining BRICS. As someone said it before, "Turkiye is seen as a frenemy in Europe." Turkiye controls the Bosporus Strait, a critical checkpoint for maritime traffic between the black sea and the Mediterranean. Due to its unique position, Turkiye acts as a mediator in regional conflicts.

I think the chances of Ukraine and Turkey joining are close to zero. Those are two very big countries and would require A LOT of preparation and changes in how the EU works. Especially on agricultural issues for Ukraine. And Turkey being a Muslim country is a big issue. There probably isn't a lot of appetite in the EU for that, neither from society nor from the political class. And let's not forget that Ukraine was the most corrupt country before the war. We should for sure support them, but joining the EU is a whole different beast.
Also, North Macedonian president said they wanna renegotiate the trilateral agreement between them, Bulgaria and France. Where N. Macedonia was obligated to change their constitution to account for their Bulgarian minority and wanna go back on that agreement, to which Bulgaria strongly objected. So I don't see them joining any time soon as well.
Serbia will never settle their disagreement with Kosovo, unless they are forced to do it. Militarily or economically.
Unless Russia is defeated in Ukraine, Georgia will also be in a limbo for a long time. Since Russia will never pull out of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Hell, they even wanna build a naval base in Abkhazia.
In my opinion, Albania and Montenegro are the only countries who will (and should) join the EU by 2030.

I hope the countries with high public support will join. It's important to have support from the people and they want to see changes towards more democracy, less corruption and so on.
With Ukraine, it will be logical for them to join. EU will invest heavily in Ukraine in the future and it would be a lot easier and more secure with investments if they are in the EU.
Turkey will not join as long as Erdogan is in charge, the people in Turkey had their chance in the last presidential election to take a step closer to EU and be more open and free. But despite all the problems Erdogan caused them from the bad economy, the earthquake funds that were lost in corruption and the laws Erdogan put in place to build unsafe houses and a lot more they still vote for him again... But that's ok, it's their country and if they like the situation they are in they did the right thing voting for him again.
Moldova... I guess the Russian propaganda and influence are strong since the Moldovan government is more or less doing nothing to remove them from their country.
Georgia, I like seeing the people of Georgia fighting for their land and rights. They are really the opposite of Moldova in that aspect. I really hope the people of Georgia get control over the situation in the next election and turn their country on the right path. We can really see that the people are fed up with the governmental problems and I hope they will be solved.
